Beloved, as the blessed of the Lord, you are lavished by the Lord with super-abundance. You have the capacity and ability to generate resources. Refuse to think POOR! Selah!
    Apostle Bennie
    Author

And instead of being drunk, Paul admonishes the brethren not to be like the others who are in the night, and under the influence of darkness. He charges them to be sober. As I explained the meaning of being sober (“nēphō”), it is to be wineless or totally free from mental and spiritual intoxication.

    Paul gave another similar illustration to the brethren in Ephesus;

“And don’t get drunk with wine, which is rebellion; instead be filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18 (TPT)

To the Thessalonians he admonished them not to be as others who sleep and get drunk at night. But they should be sober-minded because they are of the light. Then he admonished the Ephesians to not be drunk with wine (to be wineless, sober and self-control); and to be continuously filled and saturated with the Holy Spirit.

    Did you get it?

Let’s go over it briefly again:

To be sober-minded is literally to be wineless or free from intoxication. However, this sobriety is not being empty headed, but fully saturated with the Holy Spirit.

Thus, as you behold the coming of the Lord you must be fully saturated by the Holy Spirit. Moreover, understand that the Holy Spirit is given as the guarantee that we are the Lord’s.

This is then the testimony that when the Lord comes, He is coming for you because you are His.

Don’t be distracted and dominated by the deception of the adversary. Live daily under the influence of the Holy Spirit and you shall graciously demonstrate sobriety

    Hallelujah!

APPRECIATE AND HONOR YOUR LEADERS 1

“And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you”

    1 Thessalonians 5:12 (KJV)

Whiles Paul the apostle was admonishing the saints concerning how they are to cooperate and conduct themselves as they behold the coming fo the Lord, he included the need for the saints to have a deep appreciation for their leaders who labour in ministry for them.

It may seem as though the discussion from verses 1 to 11 and verse 12 (of 1 Thessalonians 5) have no logical connection.

There is a lot of deep practical connection between being watchful, sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and hope and honoring your leaders.

Remember your watchfulness and sobriety are matters of spiritual warfare as well. And if we are asked to put on the breastplate of faith and hope, then we are being reminded that our walk of faith is a military service.

As soldiers of our Lord Jesus we don’t fight disorderly for the interest of Christ. Within every military system honor or respect is a strong code, which must not be broken.

No army can succeed when they don’t honor their leaders. As we behold the coming of the Lord we must be a people who honor and appreciate our Leaders.

The Lord’s army will not be able to fight the fight of faith properly when they have no respect, for the Kingdom officers or the leaders appointed by the Lord Jesus (who is our Chief Commander).

As you are in the Lord’s army, you must first learn to respect your leaders in order to fight well.

At the new believers’ class, they must be taught to respect, honor, and appreciate their Leaders.

In this disorderly generation who have no regard for order and authority, believers are tempted to think and live without honor. Most believers act like people of the world and abuse or disrespect their leaders just because of “freedom of speech”.

Kingdom Leadership is deeply rooted in God’s love and has nothing to do with selfishness.

Anyone appointed to lead God’s people has a primary responsibility to serve the purpose of the Lord Jesus for His people.

It is a journey of impact and transformation, characterized by the labour of God’s unconditional love, relentless selfless sacrifices, pursuit of God’s will and purpose for His people.

For one to fulfill his assignment as a true Kingdom Leader, there is a kind of mindset and understanding that such a person must possess and demonstrate:

    – A True Kingdom leader does not live for himself but for the Lord and those the Lord has sent him to serve.

“So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8 (ESV)

The life of every true Kingdom leader is spent for God’s people.

    – A true Kingdom Leader has sacrificed his life on the altar of service. He doesn’t esteem his life above any other, his joy is that others are transformed and blessed. And that is the example our Lord Jesus, whom we follow, came to show us.

“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” Acts 20:24 (NLT)

    – The labour of a true Kingdom Leader is as the pain of parturition until the lives of the people they lead becomes as Christ.

“You are my dear children, but I agonize in spiritual ‘labor pains’ once again, until the Anointed One will be fully formed in your hearts!” Galatians 4:19 (TPT)

Beloved, such a person who agonizes for your spiritual growth must be appreciated and honored.

Some people don’t honor or appreciate their leaders because they don’t see the importance of their spiritual life. They belittle and refuse to acknowledge the spiritual investment their leaders make in them.

    Be different!

Be a true New Testament believer who appreciates and honors his or her leaders as they behold the coming of the Lord.

    Selah!

As a Steward of God, you must be faithful and committed to utilizing God’s blessings or resources to bring honor and glory to Him. Don’t just be a steward of God’s resources, be a faithful steward of God’s resources. Selah.

    YOU ARE NOT POOR

“There must be no poor people among you because God is going to bless you lavishly in this land…”

    Deuteronomy 15:4 (MSG)

If your answer is “YES!” then you don’t have to think poor, be poor, or remain poor!

The gospel is free but not cheap. Spreading it to the nations of the world requires a lot of resources.

Understand that being poor will limit you from achieving the dreams of God in your heart.
You cannot spread the gospel and become a giant in the expansion of the Kingdom with poverty.

This is not to demean any poor person, but to establish you in the consciousness that GOD DOESN’T WANT YOU TO BE POOR, therefore STOP THINKING POOR!

Did you read the opening verse?

“There must be no poor people among you  because God is going to bless you lavishly in this land…” Deuteronomy 15:4 (MSG)

Why must there not be poor people among them?

    Because poverty is an error!
    Poverty is not of God!
Poverty is not a blessing from God!

Anything that is not of God must not be part of your life.
The blessing of the Lord makes rich. (Proverbs 10:22).

    You may ask,

“Why then am I poor because I know I am blessed of the Lord, through Christ Jesus?”

Get this, you can carry the Lord’s blessing and still live poor. The reality is that anyone blessed by the Lord is not poor but can live poor.

Poverty is not first the absence of money. However, when you live poor, you will walk in lack.

Poverty is essentially a mindset problem. Until you correct your mindset, you may have all the resources in the universe and still live poorly. Your thought is what define how you demonstrate abundance.

You have to stop thinking of yourself as poor because you are not. Not having a physical currency note or a good bank balance doesn’t mean you are poor.

You are blessed of the Lord, therefore you are rich!
Don’t think poor, don’t live poor, don’t respond to life situations as a poor person.

Don’t speak the language of the poor. Refuse to declare lack.

The poor think he or she doesn’t have enough. But the blessed of the Lord knows whatever he or she has can be multiplied.

One with a poverty mindset thinks of impossibilities and sees and speaks lack. One with a poverty mindset, cannot imagine a life lavished with abundance. Such people are quick to declare how they don’t have money. To even think and say,

“My money is finished” is a poverty mentality.

Why do you think your money is finished? Why do you think you don’t have money?

Beloved, as the blessed of the Lord, you are lavished by the Lord with super-abundance.

You have the capacity and ability to generate resources.

THE MINDSET OF THE ANOINTED 5 —
    FOCUS MINDED

“Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, set your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.”

    Hebrews 3:1 (Berean Standard Bible)

Through this discussion (from previous episodes), we have looked at the anointing, the purpose of the anointing and the mission of the anointing.

Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (John 20:21).

He lived as a sent man and wants you to also live with the mindset of a sent man. He anointed you to set you also on His mission.

All that Jesus did was by the anointing and the presence of God which was with Him.

“The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. (John 3:2)

When the Lord is with a person in the fullness of the anointing, he or she doesn’t do ordinary things. Such, will do things which only the Lord’s anointed can do.

To have the Lord’s presence and anointing requires that you do the extraordinary.

The anointing is not just upon you for you; you are anointed to execute the Lord’s purpose.

As we have seen in the previous episodes, when you preach good tidings to the meek, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty for the oppressed, comfort all that mourn; give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD. And ultimately, the Father might be glorified. (See Isaiah 61:2-3)

Every mission of the anointed must ultimately bring glory to God.

Jesus said, “Your lives light up the world. Let others see your light from a distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop?
So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.
    ” Matthew 5:14,16 (TPT)

Understand that, the pursuit of God’s purpose through the anointing will definitely attract challenging times. Jesus was confronted with challenges. He was wrongly accused, and religious leaders sought to kill him on several occasions, they even called Him Beelzebub, ruler of demons Read Matthew 12:22-28). But none of those things deterred Him.

He was mission-focused and purpose-driven. When you allow challenges or situations to discourage or distract you, it will be difficult to fulfill the mandate of the Lord for your life. As the anointed of the Lord, you must have a focused-mindset.

When David’s brother Eliab attempted to talk down at him, he didn’t even flinch. He responded saying “…Is there not a cause?”

That was the mindset of the anointing. His response was mission-focused, and not centered on emotions. He wasn’t offended by whatever his brother said; he was focused on the assignment.

As the anointed of the Lord, one of the means you can maintain focus on the Lord’s purpose and mission for your life is to set your mind on the Lord Jesus.

When you look at yourself, you will be discouraged; because you may see a lot of weaknesses. When you look at others you will be discouraged; because they seem to be better than you. But when you look unto Jesus your heart will be encouraged and delighted.

The more you look unto Jesus, the more you remain focused. All that you need to fulfill your purpose is in Him and Him. When you look at Jesus you see your mission and purpose; you see your supply and grace; you see the anointing and strength; you see the true meaning of life and how to live.

As you can see in the opening verse:

“…holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, set your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess”.

Don’t look at the storm. Don’t allow the challenges to discourage you. When you fix your gaze on the sun, you don’t see shadows. Jesus is the sun of righteousness. Let Him be the focus of your mind.

THE MINDSET OF THE ANOINTED 4 —

    MISSION ORIENTED

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound”

    Isaiah 61:1 (KJV)

What are you doing with the anointing

Are you just living for yourself or taking steps to transform your society with the anointing in you?

The anointing is God’s supply to enable you to do what He has called you.

To be anointed is to be empowered for the Lord’s service and impact in people’s lives.

Every anointed person must have the mindset of a sent-man. Anyone who achieves more with the anointing has a mission-oriented mentality.

When you begin to live with the mindset of a sent-man you will know your life is not for yourself. A life lived for God is reckoned as a fruitful life in the Kingdom. A life lived for self is a fruitless life in the Kingdom.

To live for God is to live above your self-interest. You don’t use the deposits of God for self-gain.

“Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” John 20:21 (ESV)

How did the Father send the Lord Jesus?

    What was His mission?

    See this:

“God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it!” John 3:17 (TPT)

    And this:

“Moreover, we have seen with our own eyes and can testify to the truth that Father God has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.” 1 John 4:14 (TPT)

Now the Lord has appointed you to go into the world to save it. Until you go out there to preach the gospel men will not be able to believe and to be saved.

As part of the vision of the Prophet Obadiah, he saw this:

“Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion To judge the mountains of Esau, And the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.” Obadiah 1:21 (NKJV)

This was fulfilled in Christ Jesus:
“And then God will bring all of Israel to salvation! The prophecy will be fulfilled that says:
“Coming from Zion will be the Savior, and he will turn Jacob away from evil. For this is my covenant promise with them
when I forgive their sins.” Romans 11:26-27 (TPT)

Our Lord Jesus came as the Savior of the world and has given us the responsibility to carry the message of salvation to the nations of the world.

    The Psalmist declared this:

“Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind.” Psalm 67:2 (TLB)

This is the necessity of the anointing of the Spirit upon your life.

The anointing of God’s Spirit is the empowering presence of the Lord, which has made us adequate to carry out the responsibility of reconciling many to God.

Every anointed person must operate with the mindset that they are sent to the world to live as a representation of Christ and the mission to bring many into the saving grace of Jesus.33

Don’t waste the anointing on your personal gain.

THE MINDSET OF THE ANOINTED 3

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound”

    Isaiah 61:1 (KJV)

Every born again in Christ must think like Christ. Just as Jesus knew He was anointed for service, even so must you know that you are anointed for service.

In Luke 4:16-19, Jesus didn’t just read the words of the prophet Isaiah, and talk about how those words were fulfilled, to prove how He is powerful. Jesus spoke those words to announce the responsibility and the impact He’s going to make by the anointing.

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.” Isaiah 61:1-4 (KJV)

    – The operation of the anointing of the Lord through you gives evidence of the Lord’s Spirit upon you.

    – One of the key impacts you make with the anointing is preaching the glorious gospel of Jesus

    – The anointing makes you a healer, a binder of the brokenhearted, or those who are inwardly crashed in pieces.

Clearly from the verses we are looking into in Isaiah 61, you will notice that there are more items which show the impact one can make with the anointing:

    – To proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

The preaching of the gospel doesn’t only bind up the brokenhearted. It breaks every spiritual, mental and emotional slavery.

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 (NKJV).

    How can they know?

    Unless a preacher.

    See this:

“But how can people call on him for help if they’ve not yet believed? And how can they believe in one they’ve not yet heard of? And how can they hear the message of life if there is no one there to proclaim it?” Romans 10:14 (TPT).

    – To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD and the day of vengeance of our God; The acceptable year of the Lord points to the season of God’s grace and favor.

    – To comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. The impact the anointing brings when put to work, subdues sorrows and creates an unquenchable atmosphere of joy.

    – And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

Though this speaks of how the Jews shall rebuild Jerusalem. However, it also points to the work of the believer in today’s world through the anointing.

Today’s world have been dominated by deception and corruption. The mindset of the anointed doesn’t seek for “already made”. It is to build or rebuild. The anointing doesn’t escape from such responsibilities but trusts in the Lord to repair and reorganize every ruin. In Genesis 1, when the earth was void and without form, God set things in order.

This is the mindset of the anointed. The anointed seek to serve the next generation than to seek their own comfort.

We have the mandate to fulfill, and the transgenerational impact to make, because of the anointing.

This is the time to make a difference. This is the time to be the light of God to the world and every sphere of influence you find yourself.
    The anointing breaks the yoke!
    Hallelujah.

    WE PRAY
    Pray that:

    – By the anointing you shall build the old wastes, repair the waste and desolations in your cities and of many generations.

    – That many lives shall be delivered and all who are kept in bondage or yoke shall be made free through the power of God in you.
