STRENGTHEN YOURSELF IN THE LORD
“And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”
1 Samuel 30:6 (English Standard Version)
Your first reaction to challenges determines your manifestation.
The assumption that you will not face challenges when you become born again is wrong.
Challenges will come, but you don’t have to allow it to dominate your life. Your duty is to sail through those challenges by the grace of God.
Your level of faith or confidence in God is exposed by the challenges you face.
Challenges though are orchestrations of the adversary and wickedness, none of them has enough ability to break you. If a challenge breaks you then you are weak in strength.
“If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small” Proverbs 24:10 (NKJV)
Beloved God is not expecting you to fall or faint when you are under pressure or confronted by adversity.
He has given you all that you need to live above challenges.
Paul the apostle said, “In every way we’re troubled, but we aren’t crushed by our troubles. We’re frustrated, but we don’t give up.” 2 Corinthians 4:8 (GOD’S WORD Translation)
David, while he was out with his men to join the Philistines in battle, the Amalekites made a raid against Ziklag, the city (where the families of David and his men live). The Amalekites had overcome Ziklag and burned it with fire and taken captive the women and all who were in it, both small and great. They killed no one but carried them off and went their way.
When David and his men came to the city, they found it burned with fire, and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him raised their voices and wept until they had no more strength to weep. (See 1 Samuel 30:1-5)
The situation in which David and his men found themselves was discouraging. Now it was so intense that his people thought of stoning him. That was even worse.
Because it wasn’t just the people who lost their family members. David’s wives and children were also taken. Now these people turn to blame David.
That is the burden of leadership. Everyone may blame you.
Beloved, you may feel disappointed or distressed, but pick yourself up in faith. Always remember whom you have believed. In the day of adversity strengthen yourself in the Lord. Don’t rely on your strength.
That was what David did:
“And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6 (ESV).
He went on to inquire of the Lord as to what He should do next.
Beloved you gain more strength in the place of prayer.
You must always practice the Pauline prayers.
“May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality]” Ephesians 3:16 (Amplified Bible)
No matter the situation you find yourself in, strengthen yourself in the Lord. And don’t wait for challenges before you strengthen yourself, be ready in the strength of the Lord at all times!
