STEWARDS OF GOD’S RESOURCES 4
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
1 Corinthians 4:2 (KJV)
Holman Bible Dictionary explains that a Steward is one who has the responsibility “to utilize and manage all resources God provides for His glory and the betterment of His creation.”
We have already seen in previous episodes that:
– God is the source of all creation.
– The created things are God’s investments for His Kingdom mission.
– To acknowledge God as the source of all resources you have, is the beginning of good stewardship.
A steward is one trusted with the resources of his Master.
Joseph in the house of Potiphar was a steward over his master’s resources and affairs. The success of Joseph wasn’t his personal gains. His success was the prosperity of Potiphar’s household.
The moment you are trusted with God’s resources, your success is not in your personal gains. Your success is in how faithful you utilize God’s resources for His glory.
When God blessed man, He practically entrusted His resources to man. However, men began to use God’s resources for their own pleasures, instead of using them to bring glory to God.
The new creation in Christ is to live as Christ. To live as Christ is to bring glory to God and not to satisfy your own interests.
A faithful Steward doesn’t use God’s resources for His personal gains. A faithful Steward uses God’s resources for God’s glory. Your true success is not in what you possess. Your true success is how you use the possessions given to you by God to serve God’s Kingdom mission.
Which means to be faithful is crucial, for stewards of God.
To be faithful is to be trustworthy. The Greek word is “pistos”; which means “trustful, true and sure”.
A faithful person is disciplined and diligent with tasks entrusted to him or her. A faithful Steward doesn’t only fulfill responsibility when it is convenient. A faithful person remains diligent even when it is inconvenient. He or she is driven by conviction.
To be a faithful steward of God’s resources is also to be committed and loyal to God. It is to remain firm and consistent with your commitment or promise to God.
“When you make a vow or a pledge to God, do not put off paying it; for God takes no pleasure in fools [who thoughtlessly mock Him]. Pay what you vow” Ecclesiastes 5:4 (Amplified Bible)
A faithful Steward doesn’t break promises or commitments made to God.
God channels resources to you based on the commitment you make to Him.
The vision of God never lacks provision. Thus, God entrusts His kingdom business and resources to anyone who makes a decision or a vow or commitment to make the vision of God their focus.
As a Steward of God, you must be faithful and committed to utilizing God’s blessings or resources to bring honor and glory to Him.
Don’t just be a steward of God’s resources, be a faithful steward of God’s resources.
Selah.
