STEWARDS OF GOD’S RESOURCES 3
“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him.”
Psalm 24:1 (NLT)
It is important to understand that God is the source of all creation. And the created things on Earth are His investments for His Kingdom mission.
To be trusted by God with His kingdom vision you must be one who acknowledges that all that you have is His and for His Kingdom glory.
Your effective stewardship begins when you acknowledge that all things belong to God and are for God.
God made all men stewards of His resources on Earth. Nevertheless, when unbelief which led to corruption germinated in the hearts of men, they chose to serve their selfish interests rather than God’s purpose for their lives.
These men even ignored the revelation of God’s existence as their source. They saw the testimony of God revealed through all the created things yet denied all the truth about Him.
However, all those who believed in God through Christ and acknowledged that all things are of God and for God are recognized as stewards of God.
Right at the integral core of God’s instruction to Man was the concept of stewardship.
God said to Man to be fruitful, subdue the earth and rule over all that has been made.
This brings out the idea of stewardship; it is to have oversight or to oversee God’s resources.
There is a description of a steward’s responsibility in Isaiah 22:15:
“Furthermore, the same Lord God of the armies of heaven has told me this: Go and say to Shebna, the palace administrator” (TLB)
Read also from the Message Translation:
“The Master, God-of-the-Angel-Armies, spoke: “Come. Go to this steward, Shebna, who is in charge of all the king’s affairs”
Shebna as a steward was responsible for the administration of all the king’s resources and that of the city. He had the authority to use these resources for the management of the whole city.
To be a steward of God is to be entrusted with the resources and the authority to administrate these resources for the purpose determined by God.
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2 (KJV)
The Greek word for Steward in this verse is, oikonomos which literally means a house distributor (that is manager) or overseer; by extension, it means fiscal agent (or treasurer); it is also the word for chamberlain governor.
As a steward, you have the responsibility to oversee, manage, administrate, direct, organize, and diligently use all of God’s resources which come to your care for His own purpose.
Are you making good use of all of God’s resources for His Kingdom mission or your selfish ambition?
This is the set time to become a faithful Steward.
Can God trust you with His resources for His mission?
Selah!
Thank you Lord Jesus for counting me worthy to serve in your house as a steward.
