THE MINDSET OF THE ANOINTED 5 —
FOCUS MINDED
“Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, set your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.”
Hebrews 3:1 (Berean Standard Bible)
Through this discussion (from previous episodes), we have looked at the anointing, the purpose of the anointing and the mission of the anointing.
Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (John 20:21).
All that Jesus did was by the anointing and the presence of God which was with Him.
“The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.“ (John 3:2)
When the Lord is with a person in the fullness of the anointing, he or she doesn’t do ordinary things. Such, will do things which only the Lord’s anointed can do.
To have the Lord’s presence and anointing requires that you do the extraordinary.
The anointing is not just upon you for you; you are anointed to execute the Lord’s purpose.
As we have seen in the previous episodes, when you preach good tidings to the meek, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty for the oppressed, comfort all that mourn; give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD. And ultimately, the Father might be glorified. (See Isaiah 61:2-3)
Every mission of the anointed must ultimately bring glory to God.
Jesus said, “Your lives light up the world. Let others see your light from a distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop?
So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14,16 (TPT)
Understand that, the pursuit of God’s purpose through the anointing will definitely attract challenging times. Jesus was confronted with challenges. He was wrongly accused, and religious leaders sought to kill him on several occasions, they even called Him Beelzebub, ruler of demons Read Matthew 12:22-28). But none of those things deterred Him.
He was mission-focused and purpose-driven. When you allow challenges or situations to discourage or distract you, it will be difficult to fulfill the mandate of the Lord for your life. As the anointed of the Lord, you must have a focused-mindset.
When David’s brother Eliab attempted to talk down at him, he didn’t even flinch. He responded saying “…Is there not a cause?”
That was the mindset of the anointing. His response was mission-focused, and not centered on emotions. He wasn’t offended by whatever his brother said; he was focused on the assignment.
As the anointed of the Lord, one of the means you can maintain focus on the Lord’s purpose and mission for your life is to set your mind on the Lord Jesus.
When you look at yourself, you will be discouraged; because you may see a lot of weaknesses. When you look at others you will be discouraged; because they seem to be better than you. But when you look unto Jesus your heart will be encouraged and delighted.
The more you look unto Jesus, the more you remain focused. All that you need to fulfill your purpose is in Him and Him. When you look at Jesus you see your mission and purpose; you see your supply and grace; you see the anointing and strength; you see the true meaning of life and how to live.
As you can see in the opening verse:
“…holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, set your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess”.
Don’t look at the storm. Don’t allow the challenges to discourage you. When you fix your gaze on the sun, you don’t see shadows. Jesus is the sun of righteousness. Let Him be the focus of your mind.
Hallelujah!
