    DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS

“There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes from God”.

    2 Corinthians 3:5 (GNT)

There is no divine assignment which doesn’t require divine capacity, no matter how little it may seem.

If it is of God, then it is great!

See what David said when he was preparing materials for building the temple.

“And King David said to all the assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is still young and inexperienced and the work is great; for the temple is not for man but for the Lord God.“ 1 Chronicles 29:1 (Amplified)

Now, after all the materials needed were supplied for the building, David now unveiled how:

“Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name. “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You… O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy Name, it is from Your hand, and is all Your own.” 1 Chronicles 29:13-14,16. (Amplified).

It will always take God Himself to partner with you to do what He inspires or assigns you to do.

To have Christ in you is to have God’s partnership for any good work.

The spiritual capacity of God in you transcends your physical abilities.

The spiritual capacity is not only the ability to contain, but also God’s supply of ability within you to produce.

The Apostles acknowledged that all that they did was according to certain capacities. However, those capacities were supplied by God. (2 Corinthians 3:5 (GNT).

The Greek word for Capacity is “hikanotés”, it also means sufficiency, competence, ability, power, qualification, or fitness.

Though the capacity to do great things for God is supplied by the unlimited power of God, we have the responsibility to consistently increase in the capacity of God’s supplies.

Until you decide to take advantage of the unlimited supply of God within you to increase your spiritual capacity, you will not see unlimited results.

Every Kingdom’s achievement is greatly backed by divine capacity.

    Greatness responds to great capacity.

Your level of capacity will determine the size of the city or sphere you can take.

To increase Spiritual capacity is to be a consistent follower of Jesus.

The Lord teaches and trains you through certain men He has set in the Church. These men equip the saints for the work of the ministry. (Ephesians 4:11-12)

You also build capacity through intense focus on God’s work and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

Focus gives direction to divine energies. Whatever has your attention attracts the resources of God within you.

    Don’t scatter divine resources, FOCUS!

And the more you fellowship with the Lord, the more you submit to Him for great help and supply.

You must also have the habit of praying in the Holy Spirit. As you pray in the spirit and meditate on the Word, you also build up yourself in faith and increase your inner capacity (Jude 1:20).

God has made you for big things; don’t settle for less, therefore, increase in capacity.

    Are you imbuing focus?

Are you meditating on the word?

Are you fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit?

How consistently do you speak in tongues?

Beloved, enlarge your tents, lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. The season of great results and harvest is here!

    FRUIT OF GENEROSITY 2

“I mention this not because I’m requesting a gift, but so that the fruit of your generosity may bring you an abundant reward”

    Philippians 4:17 (TPT)

The generosity of the saints or giving of the saints towards God’s Kingdom mission is an opportunity God gives to the saints to demonstrate their love towards His Kingdom.

Giving into the spread of the Gospel or the work of the ministry imparts your heart and gives you the opportunity to participate in the impact of the gospel.

Whatever the Lord inspires you to do for the advancement of His Kingdom, builds and enrich your heart.

There is a reward or profit which abounds for you because of your generosity.

This is part of the reasons your giving is an opportunity or privilege.

In this series, we will look into some of the benefits of giving (or the generosity of the saints), without following any order of importance.

Your Generosity Leads to the Increase of Resources.

Read Philippians 4:17 from the GOOD WORD Translation:

“It’s not that I’m looking for a gift. The opposite is true. I’m looking for your resources to increase.”

Though your generosity blesses lives, it is also to your advantage. The fruit of your generosity brings reward to you.

Whenever you are asked to give or whenever there is a conversation about your generosity, don’t just think it’s because your gift is needed.

See the opportunity to receive a bountiful supply.

This was the situation with the Church in Philippi. They saw their giving to the ministry of Paul as an opportunity.

Paul didn’t just appreciate their giving; his heart was filled with joy and was greatly satisfied by their giving.

My heart overflows with joy when I think of how you showed your love to me by your financial support of my ministry. For even though you have so little, you still continue to help me at every opportunity. I’m not telling you this because I’m in need, for I have learned to be satisfied in any circumstance” Philippians 4:10-11 (TPT)

These saints didn’t give just because they had an abundance of resources. But even with the little they had, they were determined to give bountifully.

Paul again wrote on this to the Church in Corinth concerning the Churches in Macedonia (which includes Phillipi, Thessalonica, Berea and etc). Philippi is a prominent city in Macedonia. This means, when Paul wrote about the generosity of the saints in Macedonia, he was also talking about the Philippians.

“Beloved ones, we must tell you about the grace God poured out upon the churches of Macedonia. For even during a season of severe difficulty and tremendous suffering, they became even more filled with joy. From the depths of their extreme poverty, super-abundant joy overflowed into an act of extravagant generosity. For I can verify that they spontaneously gave, not only according to their means but far beyond what they could afford.” 2 Corinthians 8:1-3 (Amplified Bible).

These Macedonians love the Lord so much that they were not hindered by the outward limitations but took advantage of the grace of God to give by conviction.

No wonder Paul the apostle desired for their resources to increase. It is not just Paul who had this desire; it is a Kingdom principle:

“He that is faithful in little, is faithful in much” (Luke 16:10)

You are entrusted with more when you demonstrate faithful stewardship in the little things.

When you receive more, you increase your giving capacity. And the more you give, the more you enjoy the increase of generosity.

“Now [remember] this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to others] will also reap generously [and be blessed].” 2 Corinthians 9:6 (Amplified Bible)

There are some who conclude that the increase of resources or the fruit of generosity is only in the supply of grace.

However, it is important to know that the supply of grace is not only an inward capacity; it is also:

    – Every favour and earthly blessing.
Earthly blessing is the outward manifestation (material resources produced) of the inward blessings. Though ministry is spiritual, it requires material resources to execute its workings.

“And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (Amplified Bible)

    – More enrichment to have more to give.
You will be enriched in every way so that you may be generous, and this [generosity, administered] through us is producing thanksgiving to God [from those who benefit” 2 Corinthians 9:11 (Amplified Bible)

Learn to take advantage of every giving opportunity to demonstrate love towards the Lord and to increase in more and more grace.

Every giving is a demonstration of your faithfulness towards the spread and advancement of the gospel.

Don’t receive the grace of God in vain. Be like the Macedonians who took advantage of the giving-grace to support the ministry of Paul.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE THAT GOD DID NOT GIVE YOU?

The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts”

    Haggai 2:8 (NKJV)

It is an opportunity or privilege to be a financial partner of the gospel. Giving towards the advancement of the gospel and the Kingdom isn’t for everyone.

And that is why you don’t listen or pay attention to anyone who vehemently speaks against giving in to the gospel.

Giving into the Kingdom is for those who have:

    1. Set their affection on the Lord and have given themselves to the Lord

    2. Consciously increased in the giving grace, and give with joy and willingness.

    3. Recognised themselves as stewards of God’s finances.

As a steward of God’s finances, you acknowledge that whatever you give is not from you but of God.

You acknowledge God as your supply.
That was exactly the mindset of Abraham.

When God asked Abraham to offer his son Isaac, Abraham didn’t see himself as the provider of the sacrifice.

When Isaac asked where the lamb for the sacrifice was, Abraham told him, God will provide for Himself a lamb for the sacrifice.
Now the question is, did God really make provision for the sacrifice? Of course! (See Genesis 22:1-18)

This is for you to understand that, whatever God tells you to do, He supplies you with the resources to do.

When God tells you to go out there to preach, teach and heal the sick, He supplies you with the grace to do.

God doesn’t place demands on you. He supplies you with the grace and resources you need to do what He wants you to do.

When it comes to financing Kingdom assignment, the first thing to do is to look to God, not your pocket nor bank account.

Your bank balance will always be too small for the great things God wants you to do.

David said, “…I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, my own special treasure of gold and silver: 1 Chronicles 29:3 (NKJV)

Which means he gave beyond what he had saved (prepared).
At this level of giving, you are operating on the frequency of God’s supply.

Giving by faith is giving with the mindset that the Lord is your supply, and that is stewardship.

On the matter of stewardship, you acknowledge that all that you have is from God and it belongs to Him.

When that becomes your consciousness, you don’t struggle to give greatly towards the advancement of His Kingdom.

Remember, whatever we do for God must be great.

It was this mindset David had. He saw himself as a steward of God’s resources. And that was how he trained his people to think.

“Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great. And to give strength to all. “Now therefore, our God, We thank You
And praise Your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people,  that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You. For we are aliens and pilgrims before You, As were all our fathers; Our days on earth are as a shadow, And without hope. “O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own.” 1 Chronicles 29:12-16 (NKJV).

David and His people gave greatly towards the Lord’s work because they recognised that the work of God is great and must be greatly financed.

And above all, they gave cheerfully and willingly because they knew all that they had was from God. And also, it was God who enabled them to give.

They saw their walk with God as greater than their earthly engagements.

Beloved, whatever you have is of God, therefore, you are only a steward of God’s resources. Your giving into God’s work is God sponsoring and advancing His Kingdom mandate through you.
What can you give into God’s assignment that He didn’t give to you?

Refusing to be a radical giver is failing to be a faithful steward. This is the secret of giving willingly.

    LAVISHNESS OF GOD 5

“And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.

    2 Corinthians 9:8 (Amplified Bible)

It is not consistent with the revelation of scriptures to think God’s lavishness is not demonstrated through material blessings.

The “earthly blessing” you read in the opening verse also means material blessing. And God causes grace to lavishly abound.

And just as God lavished His love and grace through the redemptive and life-dispensing work in Christ, He also makes grace overflow abundantly so that there will be more than enough favor and material blessing for His good works.

God never withholds good things from His people.
This is who He has always been. He is a good God.

“God will lavish you with good things: children from your womb, offspring from your animals, and crops from your land, the land that God promised your ancestors that he would give you. God will throw open the doors of his sky vaults and pour rain on your land on schedule and bless the work you take in hand. You will lend to many nations but you yourself won’t have to take out a loan.” Deuteronomy 28:11-12 (Message Bible)

God doesn’t take any pleasure in making life hard. You have to take advantage of His supply to bear great fruits.

The overflowing ability of God is within us as believers.

“Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness” 2 Peter 1:3 (TPT)

You don’t have to wait for God to supply you with overflowing grace. He has already lavished you with the superabundance of grace.

The more you intimately commune with Him in knowledge, the more you overflow with His grace. This overflowing grace cannot be limited by lack. Even in the wilderness, God’s lavishness was demonstrated through our Lord Jesus.

The disciples of Jesus said, “It’s going to be dark soon and the people are hungry, but there’s nothing to eat here in this desolate place. You should send the crowds away to the nearby villages to buy themselves some food.”
Jesus responded, “They don’t need to leave, You can give them something to eat.”

Jesus’ response was to make them look beyond the situation and think according to the lavishness of God. Yet His disciples were still scarcity conscious. They answered, “But all we have is five barley loaves and two fish.”

Jesus replied “Let me have them,” Then He had everyone sit down on the grass as he took the five loaves and two fish. He looked up into heaven, gave thanks to God, and broke the bread into pieces. He then gave it to His disciples, who in turn gave it to the crowds. And everyone ate until they were satisfied, for the food was multiplied in front of their eyes! They picked up the leftovers and filled up twelve baskets full! There were about five thousand men who were fed, in addition to many women and children!” (See Matthew 14:15-21, TPT).

Jesus proved God’s lavishness of provision, as the multitudes ate till they were satisfied and yet there were leftovers.
    Say this loud to yourself:
    I don’t experience scarcity.
I enjoy God’s unlimited and immeasurable lavishness of Grace.

    LAVISHNESS OF GOD 4

Look with wonder at the depth of the Father’s marvelous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children. The reason the world doesn’t recognize who we are is that they didn’t recognize him.”

    1 John 3:1 (TPT)

There was a story about a lady traveling with her boss (it was her first time travelling on an aircraft). And in the flight, they sat at separate seats with some distance between them. When they got to their destination, her boss got to know the lady was feeling hungry. The boss was a bit surprised considering how they were served on the flight. So she asked the lady if what was served on the flight wasn’t enough for her.

The lady replied to her boss, “Ma, I didn’t accept any of the food they tried serving because I was nearing enough money and didn’t want to bother you. I didn’t even visit the washroom because I didn’t want you to incur other costs”

“What?” The boss exclaimed, “Your flight ticket covered all the bills! Your way to enjoy everything”. She continued.

Is this not the situation with most believers in Christ?

The ignorance of what God has lavished on them makes them live like beggars.

They judge what they have and what they can do through their natural strength.

Don’t judge the supply of God with the limitation of your natural ability.

God is rich in wisdom and blessings; He lavishly and richly pours out His blessings in large measure.

The lavishness of God is not just in the demonstration of His love through spiritual blessings in Salvation. God also lavishes His children with material blessings. To experience material blessing is not necessarily being materialistic.

Materialism in theology is the concept of being obsessed or preoccupied (spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically) with material things rather than the spiritual reality of God.

“Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never, never fail you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (TLB)

In the above verse, the author of Hebrews instructs his readers to stay free from the love of money and to shun financial greed.

Does that mean the child of God doesn’t experience material blessings?

Certainly not! The contrast of not being greedy or obsessed as a child of God with material things is contentment with what you have. This is transcending. The author was specific with what you need to be content with. He said “…be content with what you have”

    Amazing! (Just feel like shouting)

To be content with what you have is not in reference to the material things you have been able to amass through your struggle and sweat.

What you have in this context is not what you gained through your natural labor.

    What do you have?

    You have GOD!

Who has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]”

    Did you read that?

You cannot have God and lack support. He doesn’t just give you support, God is the support and the supply.

Most believers who love a greedy life, live as the people of the world. They are not conscious they have the greatest treasure.

Jesus said, “So then, forsake your worries! Why would you say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For that is what the unbelievers chase after. Doesn’t your heavenly Father already know the things your bodies require” Matthew 6:31-32 (TPT)

No child of God should be greedy and materialistic. No child of God should be obsessively chasing after money or material things.

You have GOD’S PRESENCE, where every blessing finds expression.

Concerning your physical needs or material blessings, take note of this:

“And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (Amplified Bible)

How much do you need to do what God has called you to do?

God is able to lavish you with every earthly blessing so that you will be sufficient enough for every good work.

Don’t doubt nor limit the wisdom of God.

Continue to behold and trust Him as your shepherd; He will make you lie down in green pastures.

    LAVISHNESS OF GOD 2

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.”

    1 John 3:1 (NIV)

The richness of God transcends the abundance of currency, silver or gold. The richness of God is not in the resources He has but in the reality of Himself.

He is superabounding in essence and expression. He is the source of what He gives and He is what He gives. Thus to have God is to have an unending satisfaction.

He is lavishing. He doesn’t dispense Himself in smaller percentages. He gives super-abundantly.

God doesn’t hold back. He generously lavishes all He has and yet doesn’t run out of what He gives.

When you have God, you have Him in all of His richness.

This is why you shouldn’t have God and then lack any good thing. God is not a Father who holds back good things from His children.

    He gives lavishly!

When men walked in unbelief, lived without Christ, were sinners, condemned because of unbelief, were like corpses, dead in sins and offenses. When they were controlled by religion, man-made customs, and selfish values of this world, dominated by the dark ruler of the earthly realm who fills the atmosphere with his authority and works diligently in the hearts of those who are disobedient to the truth of God. They lived out the rebellious and corruption of unbelief that was sown in them from birth through the deeds and desires or deadly cravings of their selfish-life.

God still loved us with such great love. Because He is so rich in compassion and mercy.
     (See Ephesians 2:1-6)

No degree of our wrongs was able to stop God from fulfilling His compassionate plan of salvation.

Though men saw themselves as God’s enemies, this didn’t stop God from being faithful. His steadfast love remains immovable, and the flow of His Mercies continues endlessly.

Are there times when you look at yourself, and feel you have made so many mistakes, disappointed God and hit the bottom of the ocean?

Always remember His mercy is unending.

Even in the Lamentation of the Prophet, he said:

“my soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what happiness is; so I say, “My endurance has perished; so has my hope from the Lord.” Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall! My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me.
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
     Lamentation 3:17-24 (ESV)

No matter how the adversary reminds you of the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes or defeat, the feeling of depression and hitting the bottom.

Set your mind on the lavishness of God’s love and Mercy. Set your hope and grip on God. His love is loyal and cannot run out, the rivers or well of his mercifulness cannot dry up. A day wouldn’t end without the unceasing flow of His mercies. He will always and at all times lavish and soak you with His compassionate love.

He doesn’t hold back His kindness and care; He abundantly overwhelms you with His mercies.

Enjoy the abundant supply of God in this new season.

    Hallelujah!

    WE PRAY
Pray that our hope will be gripped on God’s compassionate loyal love and the lavishness of His endless mercies no matter the situation we find ourselves.
