When Peter decided to look at the storm instead of Jesus, he began to sink (Matthew 14:30). Don’t make decisions because of challenges. Make choices which are consistent with the revelation of Jesus.

It is a trap to think you have to withdraw from your engagements with the Lord, so that you can focus on a family challenge, employment situation or a financial concern.

The adversary is luring you away from your mandate. He doesn’t want you to take and be consistent with what the Lord has begun in you.

He may even use family members, a fellow believer or a close friend to distract you. Always pay attention to the voice of the Lord.

Stay alert, maintain and imbue focus.

    HE WILL SHOW YOU MYSTERIES

“God’s wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface. It’s not the latest message, but more like the oldest—what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene.”

     1 Corinthians 2:8 (MSG)

Are you here for the first time?

I have shared a lot on this platform; take the time to read other episodes and meditate on them.

Making time to pray and ministering unto the Lord cannot be overemphasised.

There are divine depths of wisdom which may not be understood by reading books. You only come to the understanding of it by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Am I denying the relevance of books? Certainly not.

Daniel understood by books (Daniel 9:2).

Jesus read, and the apostles also did.

We behold the Wisdom of God through the scriptures and the epistles as well.

However, through your communion with the Holy Spirit, you contact the life and the Spirit of the words spoken.

Through communion with the Spirit, the Lord speaks to you person to person.

There are secrets and insights the Lord brings to you by revelation.

Daniel the Prophet, understood by books, however, when he had to tell and interpret the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar, he and his companions decided to pray to God.

“Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation. Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:
That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.”
     Daniel 2:16-19 (KJV)

When you make time to speak to God, He will show you things you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3).

And also concerning Moses, who spent 40 days and 40 nights with God; he returned with a heavenly pattern of the Tabernacle, priesthood designs and ordinances.

Beyond the introduction of the “Old Covenant”, Moses received instructions on healthy living, health methods, food management, etc. No wonder, he saw the commandments of the Lord as life and not legalistic codes. (Deuteronomy 32:44-47)

He received insight into the beginning of time. It will only take divine revelation and inspiration to have such hindsight into God’s creation work.

The events in the book of Genesis took place many centuries before Moses was born. The details of Genesis transcend his exposure to historical materials in Egypt and Oral history from learned men (as others claim).

Certain details in Genesis will only be by revelation.

Elihu said, “I thought age should speak, and a multitude of years should teach wisdom. “But there is [a vital force and] a spirit [of intelligence] in man,
And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.”
    Job 32:7-8 (Amplified)

Beloved, you have the Holy Spirit in you and with you; be immersed in Him through prayer and fellowship; your heart will be inspired with understanding into unsearchable verities.

TURN TO GOD — AND BEHOLD HIS HELP

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”

    Hebrews 12:2 (Berean Standard Bible)

God’s heart towards His people is never to destroy them but to bring them to His Salvation.

That is the focus of the entire Bible. He desires that all men shall be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3-4).

However, God doesn’t force His provision of Grace or Salvation on mankind. He only supplies His grace. But it is only by His supply of Grace that men shall be saved.

To reject God’s Salvation is to reject your deliverance from destruction.

What this means is that, to enjoy what the Lord supplies, one has to turn to Him by faith.

That is exactly what Noah did.

Noah built an ark because He had faith in God. If the people believed the testimony of Noah, they would have also been delivered from the flood.
When you turn to God, you receive and enjoy His supply of Grace by faith.

The Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt ultimately began after their first passover experience.

Read here to understand the revelation of the Passover.

Their obedience to the instruction of Moses concerning the passover was an action of faith towards God’s provision. This act of faith delivered them from death. Their journey through the wilderness was also to be a continuous demonstration of faith towards God.

And that was what God kept teaching them all through their journey in the wilderness.

In our journey through this perverse, corrupt and evil world, God wants us to set our gaze on Him. No matter the wrongs you make, your way out is to turn to the Lord and to behold Him.

When the Israelites were attacked by fierce serpents in the wilderness (because of their disobedience), God’s answer was for them to behold the revelation of His Salvation.

“And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”

Serpent is also a symbol of deception and corruption in the scriptures.(Matthew 12:4; Revelation 12:9)

Brass (or bronze) is a symbol of judgement. The brazen altar (of the temple, see Exodus 27:1-8; Exodus 29:38) was a typology of the cross of Jesus, where the judgement of sin was executed.

The brazen serpent was a typology of God’s salvation for mankind through Jesus.

As long as the people beheld the brazen serpent, they were healed. The brazen serpent was a testimony to them that the penalty of their transgression had been paid, so they must be healed and live.

Jesus on the cross was made sin (2 Corinthians 5:21), and took upon Himself the judgement of sin.
    He said concerning His death,

“And just as Moses in the desert lifted up the brass replica of a snake on a pole for all the people to see and be healed, so the Son of Man is ready to be lifted up, so that those who truly believe in him will not perish but be given eternal life” John 3:13-14 (TPT)

This is the goodnews to all mankind.

Jesus has paid for your sins; look away from your weaknesses and failures. Turn to God and behold His Salvation.

    UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL 3 –
THE GOSPEL IS THE REVELATION OF JESUS

“For the gospel is all about God’s Son…”

    Romans 1:3 (TPT)

As I have explained in previous posts, the gospel is Jesus and all that He attained for the saints.

God’s present message or news to the world is revealed through Jesus.

All of God’s glorious message is fully fulfilled and expressed through our Lord Jesus.

The appearing of Jesus, is the fulfilment of the scriptures concerning God’s saving plan and the expression of His Kingdom inheritance.

All that God declared through the scriptures were testimonies of Jesus. They all pointed to His appearing (John 5:39). Now in God’s eternal plan there is nothing which will manifest without being founded on the revelation of Jesus.

Whiles Paul and Barnabas were ministering to the Jews and non-Jews in Antioch, they patiently pointed out God’s prophetic dealings with the Israelites, and how that now Jesus is the fulfilment of the Prophecies of the scriptures.

“So here we are to share with you some wonderful news! The promise God made to our forefathers has now been fulfilled for us, their children. For God has raised Jesus from the dead, as it says in Psalms: ‘Today I reveal you as my Son, and I as your Father.” Acts 13:32-33 (TPT)

There is no good news above God’s news. And our Lord Jesus is the goodnews of God to the world.

This is exactly what the Angel who announced the birth of our Lord Jesus, said to the shepherds.

“In that country there were shepherds lying in the open fields, taking their turns to watch the stock in the night; when all of a sudden an angel of the Lord appear’d to them, and a heavenly light shone about them, at which they were greatly affrighted. but the angel said to them, be not afraid, I am only come to bring you great news, which will be matter of joy to you and to the whole world. for the Lord Messiah your saviour is this day born, in the city of David” Luke 2:8-11 (Mace New Testament)

The birth of Jesus was a proclamation of great joy to the whole universe (see Aramaic Bible in Plain English).

It was a goodnews or good tidings to all people everywhere.

The gospel of our Lord is a news of hope and joy. The gospel of our Lord Jesus is not a message of doom and destruction. It is the news of God’s deliverance and salvation to those who believe.

It is the goodnews of God’s peace, His goodness and loving kindness.

Until you grow in the knowldge of the gospel of our Lord Jesus, you will not walk in total victory.

The gospel is not a message which points to your self efforts or attempts and struggle to obey the law of Moses. The gospel is the revelation of Jesus and the salvation which He brings to mankind through Him.

The gospel does not point you to your weakness, failures and defeats. The gospel is the proclamation of Jesus and all He has accomplished for you. Whenever the gospel is preached you see Jesus in His glory.

Are you hearing the Gospel (Goodnews) of Jesus or you are hearing other news which are not consistent with the revelation of Jesus?

Set your mind on the revelation of Jesus which establishes you in the satisfaction of peace.

    THE HOPE OF SALVATION –

THE BELIEVER’S THREEFOLD CORD ARMOR 4

“But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”

    1 Thessalonians 5:8 (KJV)

Apart from putting on the breastplate of faith and love, another important armor Apostle Paul mentioned was the hope of salvation as a helmet.

To the soldier, the helmet is an amour piece that protects his head. The head has the mouth, nose, face, skull, and brain. Both the breastplate and the helmet protect the most essential organs of the human body (though all the parts of the human body are important); the heart and the head (brain, eyes, mouth, face, ear) respectively.

To delve more into the subject matter, let me help you grasp this:

Most extensive studies in cardiology and neuroscience touch on the relationship between a man’s spirituality and his brain-heart connection (or neurocardiology).

In biblical language, the word “heart” means more than the cardiac organ of the human body. However, the cardiac organ and the encephalon (or brain) are the physical seats of the constitution of the heart.

The heart consists of the soul (mind, will, and emotions) and the spirit. These essential parts of man cannot be physically touched. However, their activities or functions can be felt through the brain-heart connection of the human body. Through neurocardiology, we can identify the influences of the innerman on the body.

If you are an avid reader of Machaira with Apostle Bennie, you can tell how countless times you will be reading an episode or listening to a teaching from our platforms, or be reading a Bible verse and your heart (cardiac organ) will literally be experiencing some sensations of joy.

What happens is that the aggregation of the divine thoughts or the ministration of the Spirit-word induces the illumination of your mind, which transmits light into your being. This transmits signals between your neuron and other bodily cells. It also sends electrical signals (impulses) which spread throughout the heart (cardiac organ) along its electrical pathways.

(NB: It is the reason one will be hearing the message and the fellow senses a vibration of power throughout the body, and may not be able to sit or stand and sometimes a person may fall with a burning sensation of fire, all through the body).

This also happens when one continuously exposes his or her mind to wrong information. It corrupts and crushes his inner being and literally affects the neurocardiac system.

Words carry spiritual influences which create some physical effects.

Your brain and heart (cardiac organ) are physical organs that also serve as the seats of your mind, will emotions, and spirit.

You don’t first find or experience the impulse of your will, emotions, and mind in your knee or leg. You experience the impulse of your emotions and thoughts, through your brain and heart (cardiac organ).

This gives a deep explanation as to why Paul the apostle will instruct the brethren to put on the breastplate of faith and love and a helmet of the hope of salvation.

The benefits of these armor pieces are not just spiritual. They are also physical. The spiritual always affects the physical (and the process recycles).

When your heart or inner man is saturated with the consciousness of faith, love, and the hope of salvation, you will walk through this world in sobriety. You will not live feeling discouraged, broken, and mentally drained. This is why a man who is fully influenced by the revelation of Jesus, will not live in anxiety, suffer from a “heart attack” or struggle with mental health.

The gospel is the dynamic ability of God which brings deliverance from darkness to light, safety, soundness of heart, wholeness of health, and eternal joy (Romans 1:16).

When the revelation of God’s salvation in Christ permeates your mind, you cannot live a sad life.

You live and look into the future with so much hope. You also enjoy the living hope in your daily life.

This is what Isaiah the Prophet declared:

“Let me tell you how happy God has made me! For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and draped about me the robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10 (TLB)

    FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE

“Whether you eat or drink, live your life in a way that glorifies and honors God.”

    1 Corinthians 10:31 (TPT)

Our Lord Jesus is the ultimate model and pattern of our Faith. Our true identity is in Christ.

Jesus came to unveil the mystery of godliness (1 Timothy 3:16). The mystery of godliness is the expression of the GOD-MAN (Jesus was revealed as fully God and fully man).

Thus the mystery of godliness is not just the revelation of God to man; it is also the revelation of man’s originality to man.
Man’s renaissance of identity and purpose can only be found in Christ Jesus.
That is why we are charged through the scriptures to continue to behold Jesus.
As you behold Jesus you begin to live and function like Him.

“…As He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17).

To function like Jesus is to live the life God has predestined you to be conformed to His image and live like He did (Romans 8:29).

When you became born again, you received His life and nature. His purpose also became your purpose.
In Salvation, we were created to be in the likeness and image of Jesus.
“…Nevertheless I live yet not I but it is Christ that lives in me. The life that I live now in the flesh  I live by the faith of the Son of God…” (Galatians 2:20).

All that Jesus did was unto the glory of God. What else must be the purpose of your living and what you do?
It must be unto the glory of God just as Jesus lived.
Jesus lived to honor the Father above Himself.

We also have to live to honor the Father above ourselves. We don’t honor God just to win favor from Him. We honor the Father for who He is.
We don’t live like ordinary men, for they have no thoughts of God and don’t live to acknowledge Him nor glorify Him.
“For since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:20-21 (NKJV).
However, as you are in Christ, the Prophecy of Isaiah is your reality.
“For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.“

The hearts of men are darkened and they walk in the futility of their thoughts because they have not acknowledged and glorified God; even though they see His attributes through creation.

But for us, our reality is different, when we beheld and received Jesus, the glorious light of the knowledge of God shone in our hearts. Therefore, we live daily to glorify and honor God.
Whatever you do, look beyond your self-interest, or satisfaction. Whatever you do must not be according to your will or desire but unto God’s glory and honor.
You don’t do things just to please yourself. You don’t do things just because it is a sin or not. The question is:

    How does it GLORIFY GOD?
How is your daily life, your speech, your conduct bringing glory to God and honoring Him?
This is how you emulate the example of Jesus.
