    LIVE IN HIS REST

“But now, after that, ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?”

    Galatians 4:9  (KJV)

One of the key things you must understand is that, when you came into Christ, you were brought into a life of Rest and not under another yoke of religion.

Jesus is not a religious leader. He is God who became flesh to bring us into the reality of life. (1 Timothy 3:16)

God’s intention for man has always been to make His Life germinate in man, that man will be His expression.

When you cultivate the Life of God in you, you will live in REST.

The REST I am talking about here is not how you cease from work or movement in order to relax or sleep.

When you come into Christ, you are brought into Rest.

This rest is living according to the divine essence in you. It is living above the anxiety, burden, fear and condemnation of the Old Covenant law and the demands you place upon yourself through other worthless religious principles and philosophies.

In the opening verse, Galatians 4:9, Paul spoke of weak and beggarly elements; the question is what are these weak and beggarly elements Paul was speaking of?

These weak and beggarly elements are the worthless principles of religion and philosophies.

These include paganism, the bondage of Jewish rituals and ordinances, and also baseless or empty scientific philosophies designed by men to oppose the reality of God.

If you are reading this and you are not born again, understand Jesus came not to introduce you to a new religion called “Christianity”. This is how most people see Christianity. They assume it’s one of the religious groups. They are not to be blamed, some ecclesiastical caucus have made religion out of what should be the dispensing of life.

Jesus came to translate you into the reality of the Kingdom life of God.

Read what He said and He is saying the same thing to you now:

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (Message)

Jesus came to bring you rest from all your efforts to be righteous or justified. He came to take off the burdens or entrapments of superstitions, taboos and regulations of religion.

Jesus came to usher you into a new – living way of peace and fulfilment of life.

If you are reading this and you are born again, rejoice and remain confident in the reality of Jesus. He has brought you into true rest.

Don’t be lured to think living by grace is not enough. Don’t place any yoke of religious duties upon yourself.

Just as Paul said to the brethren in Colosse:

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception [pseudo-intellectual babble], according to the tradition [and musings] of mere men, following the elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth—the teachings of] Christ.” Colossians 2:8 (Amplified)

Remain resolute in the teachings of Christ. Set your mind and affection on the revelation of Jesus. Refused to be swayed by some pseudo-intellectual babble.

Enjoy your true and intimate relationship with the Father, which is founded on His unconditional love and not religious regulations and deceptive philosophies.

    Hallelujah!

HE HAS GIVEN YOU HIS REST

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

    Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

From previous episodes,  we’ve been discussing BE HELPFUL and yesterday we looked at EDIFY YOURSELF.

Which have been a refreshing daily feast.

Today I want your heart to be fully settled on this reality that:

The victory that Christ has brought us is rich with His rest!

You don’t have to feel pressured and overwhelmed to help others.

    Glory to God!

Whenever people get to think about their relationship with God, they first think of what they have to do for the Lord, or what they think the Lord has to do for them.

Most believers are work-oriented and self-oriented.

Jesus who is God manifested in the flesh, came to show us the delight of God.

God is not essentially interested in what you want to do for Him or what you want. Through Christ Jesus, we see that God wants you to ENJOY HIM!

To enjoy God is to focus on what He SUPPLIES to you.

    Read the opening verse again:

Jesus said, “… I will GIVE you REST”.

Jesus didn’t invite you to Himself primarily because of what you will do for Him, but what He will give to you.

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear” Matthew 11:28-30 (TPT)

You cannot genuinely share in the delight of the Father when you have not enjoyed what He SUPPLIES to you.

His glory is expressed through you when you enjoy His gifts.

When Jesus said, “I WILL GIVE YOU REST”. He meant it!

The reality is this, as you have already come to Christ, HE HAS GIVEN YOU REST.

When you came into Christ, He didn’t only give you rest; YOU ENTERED HIS REST.

“For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from [those labors uniquely] His own.” Hebrews 4:10 (Amplified)

Whatever you do with the Lord and how you daily live must be rooted and established in the reality of the REST which CHRIST has given to you.

Are you running or waging war in anxiety or the REST OF JESUS?

We are in the rest of Jesus, therefore enjoy His rest!

His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He is not difficult to please.

Whatever He tells you to do, He is in it with you. He is the loving Father who bears your burdens.

    BREAK OUT

“For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.”

    Isaiah 54:3 (KJV)

God didn’t create limitations for man. He brought man forth to a place where everything was good.

The goodness of God revealed in His creation is not just about how perfect the created things are, but how they are to be perfect for the benefit of man.

Everything God made was good to serve man. Nothing was to be a disadvantage to man. Everything made by God was to serve man and be beneficial to man’s living.

God did not create the earth to be desolate.

God blessed man with the ability to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion over all created things.

God entrusted the flourishing of the earth to man. He gave man the governing right to determine what happens here on earth.

The corruption which entered the world through man’s disobedience (unbelief), did not only affect man’s spirituality but also allowed an opposing force of limitations to invade creation.

The fall made it possible for man to experience struggle. The root of man’s fall is unbelief, which causes one to live out of God’s satisfaction and restfulness.

This explains why even the Israelites could not enter their rest.

“So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest], because of their unwillingness to adhere to and trust in and rely on God [unbelief had shut them out].” Hebrews 3:19 (AMPC)

The moment you receive Christ by faith, you have entered His rest.

Nonetheless, as to touching the matter of your unlimited living, you have to decide to take advantage of Christ’s accomplishment in you.

Christ has brought you into His rest positionally; and transfused His life, nature and power into you for your daily living. You will continue to live in limitation until you exude the rich items of Christ within you in a practical way.

The accomplishment of Christ did not mean we would automatically live limitlessly. What Christ did give us was the power to determine the unlimited living of His life in us.

What does this say to you?

Beloved, the limitations in your life today are a result of how you have not taken advantage of the reality of Christ which is in you.

You can expand, you can grow, you can multiply, you can achieve glorious things according to His power which works in you.

Take advantage of all that Christ has accomplished to break out from every limitation you are experiencing.

Refuse to remain where you are.

    Advance! March on! Achieve Greatness.

You have to break out from every limitation you see around you.

    FOLLOW THE LORD

“My own sheep will hear my voice and I know each one, and they will follow me”

    John 10:27 (TPT)

Have you ever looked around and into your future and all you saw was chaos and distress?

Have you found yourself in a situation where everything seems to be crushing on you, and there is no way out?

Do you feel lost and confused with overwhelming thoughts of uncertainty?

Do you feel like a total failure and don’t know how to make your way to a successful destination?

There is good news for you. Stop the struggle and turn to the Lord.

You may ask how do I stop the struggle? I am already caught up in the struggle.

Let me help you understand this:

Challenges or the negative situations you find yourself in are not the struggle. The struggle is your reaction to the challenge or the negative situation.

No challenge has the power to break you until you are weak. Challenges must become stepping stones for your next level of success.

It only takes a few seconds for a person to drown in water. Mostly, these people ignorantly get into struggling mode or fight-and-flight mode when they feel they can’t easily inhale or exhale. The flight or struggle mode doesn’t give them the opportunity to work on holding their breath for some seconds in the water.

Most people who escape from being submerged in water, don’t respond to drowning by struggling. They relax the body into a floating position so that they can breathe.

When the vicissitudes seem to submerge or suffocate you, don’t respond with a struggle, train your mind and heart to trust in the Lord. That is how you refuse to struggle.

To trust in the Lord is to be in a position of rest. In this position, you float on the challenges of life.

As a child of God, take matters into your hands by first following the Lord. You follow the Lord because you are of His sheepfold. He is your shepherd. The Lord as your shepherd is your greatest advantage in this dark world.

In David’s poetic praise, he said:

“The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss.” Psalm 23:1-2 (TPT).

    Oh, glory to God!

It is not possible to follow the Lord and be controlled by challenges. The beautiful thing is that your walk with the Lord makes you bold. To follow the Lord is to be conquered by the presence and power of the Lord. No matter where you find yourself fear will not conquer you. You just know the Lord is with you.

Live each day of your life following the Lord’s steps and leading.

You are His workmanship created unto good works which He has foreordained that you walk in them (Ephesians 2:10).

Therefore He knows where you should be per time. The script of your life is written in His eternal scrolls. They are His thoughts in expression. Whenever you react with struggle and choose your own path, you act contrary to His original script for your life.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

As you follow the Lord’s leading, you walk and enjoy His perfect plan for your life.

Stop the struggle and start following the Lord’s leading.

YOU ARE SEATED IN GLORY 3

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus

    Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)

When God made man, the first day man saw was His rest.

The final work of God in His creation was man on the sixth day. (Genesis 1:24-31).
The beginning of man’s day after He was made was the seventh day.

God finished all His work on the seventh day and rested.

Man didn’t meet God working. Man met God in rest.

“Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.” Genesis 2:1-3 (NKJV)

Man’s work is what God has done. Which means whatever man was designed for must be done in REST. Man was to live his days in rest.

Yes, God made man to be fruitful and multiply, to fill the earth and to subdue it, to have dominion and to till the ground and tend the earth. However, all these were to be done in REST.

To come into rest is to work from what God has finished. For God to rest means He is satisfied. Thus to be in the rest of God is to dwell in God’s satisfaction.

God’s glory is seen in you when you enjoy His satisfaction.
To come into rest is to come to the place of communion, intimacy and a deep relationship with God.

God didn’t intend that His relationship with man would be based on works and religious efforts unto righteousness.

God made man to have a relationship with him (man) based on who He (God) is and not based on man’s self-generated effort.

God made man and brought him into the abundance of His provision. Man was to enjoy, care and express all that the Lord supplied.

When man fell from glory (Romans 3:23), man also fell from rest.

Man who was to enjoy communion with God in rest must now attempt to use self-effort to connect to God.

God is so loving, beloved. Even after man’s fall, God began to work His saving plan to bring man into His complete rest. (Genesis 3:15,21)

All through the scriptures, you will find God walking man through His plan.

The idea of the animal sacrifices in the Tabernacle and the temple was to teach man how He (the Lord) is ushering man into His rest.

In the old covenant, worshippers of God found peace and felt whole after they had offered a sacrifice. And most of all when the High Priest had presented the blood of an unblemished lamb on the mercy seat in the Most Holy Place.

They had to offer regular daily sacrifices (Numbers 28:1-8), weekly sacrifices during the sabbath (Numbers 28:9-10), monthly sacrifices every first day of the month (Numbers 28:11-15), then the yearly Passover celebration sacrifices, the thin bread and annual harvest sacrifices (Numbers 28:16-31).

These sacrifices were to bring them into daily, weekly, monthly and yearly rest and peace with God.

You can imagine how the High Priest and the Priests have to work daily. This isn’t a one-time thing. They offer sacrifices every day of the whole year, morning and evening.

The High Priest is daily standing to offer sacrifices.

However, that is not our testimony in the New Testament. In Christ, our High Priest is seated once and for all. To be seated means He has finished His work and has entered His rest.

“Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.” Hebrews 10:11-14 (NLT)

As we have seen previously, when Jesus sat in glory, we sat with Him in glory. Just as in the Old Covenant, the offeror stands with the Priests every day, we also who are in Christ, are seated with Him forever.

Jesus sat in honor. To be seated in honor is to be seated in glory. Furthermore, to be seated is to be at rest. The High Priest kept standing in the Old Covenant, which means they have not entered the rest. They must work daily to feel at peace with God.

But for us, we are seated in rest with Christ. To be seated in honor or glory is to be seated in rest forever in Christ.

The believer in Christ is not trying to enter rest. The man in Christ is seated in rest.

This is not the restoration of Adam experiencing rest on God’s sabbath.
This is the tangible transcendent manifestation of God’s sabbath in wholeness.

Beloved, your relationship with God is not a strive to enter rest. Your relationship with God is the eternal enjoyment of God’s rest.

“I WILL GIVE YOU REST” Says, JESUS

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

    Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

For some weeks now we’ve been discussing the Lord’s armor.

Which has been a refreshing daily feast.

However, I want your heart to be fully settled on this:

Yes, we are at war with the evil forces of darkness. However, we are not fighting for victory. We are fighting from and in victory.

Though we wrestle against principalities, powers and rulers of dark places, we are not to be threatened or burdened.

The victory which Christ has brought us is rich with HIS REST!

You don’t have to feel pressured and overwhelmed because you are instructed to put on the whole armor of God and to persevere in prayer.
The armor pieces given to us by the Lord, are evidence of His provision and care for us.
    Glory to God!
