Until you focus on the Lord as your inward satisfaction, you will be easily distracted when confronted by challenges.

    EXPECT OPPOSITIONS

“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries”

    1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV)

Beloved, you should not be surprised when you are confronted by challenges because of the gospel.

Men whose eyes have been blinded by the adversary will always oppose God’s Kingdom plan.

The more you see darkness in a place, the greater the need to spread the gospel wherever you go or move to, and identify opportunities to share the gospel.
This was something Jesus and the early saints frequently utilised. And even in our day, those who are doing well with the gospel have sharpened their skills to identify doors of opportunity, to spread the gospel.

    Look at this:
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few” Matthew 9:35-37 (KJV)

Do you see it? The moment our Lord Jesus saw the multitudes, He saw the opportunity or the need to get souls saved.

When you see people, you must identify the need and the opportunity to spread the gospel. Wherever you go or find yourself, there are opportunities to get many saved.

Don’t be threatened by an impending opposition when you identify a door of opportunity.
Be determined to make the most of such opportunities, as the Holy Spirit inspires you.
You will see from the opening verse that Paul did not fret; he was ready to stay in order to utilise the great door which was opened unto him.

“Regardless, I will remain in Ephesus until the feast of Pentecost. There’s an amazing door of opportunity standing wide open for me to minister here, even though there are many who oppose and stand against me.” 1 Corinthians 16:8-9 (TPT).

He decided to stay for more days in Ephesus, to minister there, even though there were many who opposed and stood against him.
We will later find out that the gospel grew so much in the city of Ephesus and prevailed. (See Acts 19:1-20)

    Always have this in mind:

DARKNESS CANNOT PUT OUT THE BLAZING LIFE-LIGHT! (John 1:5, Message Bible).

Light doesn’t automatically shine in dark places; you must intentionally cause it to shine.

Jesus said, “Let your light so shine” (Matthew 5:16).

The purpose of light is to shine in the darkness. Greater lights are needed to shine in the darkest places.

The dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty; thus, we must invade and saturate such places with the blazing life-light.

We don’t crawl backwards just because of the violence of darkness. The life-light is the love-light, and it is the greatest force of victory.

Beloved, take advantage of every opportunity to spread the gospel without fear of opposition, for the Lord is with you.

    Shalom!

    MY SHEPHERD AND MY HOST

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over”

    Psalm 23:5 (NKJV)

Our discussion on this Psalm has revealed the tender care and protective heart of our Shepherd (who is the Lord).

We saw Jesus as the good shepherd, who supplies your needs bountifully.

He causes you to enjoy Him as your diet and rest through His luxurious love.

He refreshes your heart and brings you to a life above distress.

As the good shepherd, He is your righteousness; thus, leads you not by rules and regulations. You live right by His organic life within you.

He is the Shepherd who lives in you and with you irrespective of the chaotic conditions which may confront you.

He is not just with you, He defends and protects you. He selected and separated you unto Himself to be His forever.

He also guides and restrains you in the way you should go.

Let me just draw your attention to this interesting thought. I believe some who don’t want to submit to God will make an assertion that:

The shepherds, tend, feed and protect their sheep for the interest of their own business.

However, Psalm 23:5 reveals the beautiful character of the Good Shepherd (the Lord Jesus) which is contrary to the shepherds of this world. They protect their sheep from the prey, so that they will comfortably feast on their own sheep or trade them.

Instead of the sheep to be prepared as meal for the table, the Good shepherd prepares a table for the sheep.

There is a shift in the metaphor used by David in this Psalm. In the verse 5, you will see that, the Shepherd has now become a Host whiles the sheep has become His guest.

However, the feast is hosted in the presence of the sheep’s enemies. As you are designated, selected and separated unto the Lord, you will have enemies. Having enemies is also an evidence that you are on the Lord’s side. As a sheep you will always attract the enemies of your Shepherd.

Usually a person may eat fast before his enemies and quickly get into defensive or attacking position. But that is not the case of the Good Shepherd’s guest. The shepherd creates an environment for His guest to have a quietude in the face of his adversity.

The calm bravery of the guest is dependent on the consciousness of who his host is and the quality of security he enjoys.

David already said, “…though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me…” verse 4, Psalm 23.

And then points out the bravest act of feasting, even when he has his enemies before him or around him. Right through verses 4 and 5, David illustrated the unwavering confidence he has in the Lord; who is his Shepherd and Host.

The Lord is not just guiding and guarding you, He is also your HOST.

And as your HOST, He is not interested in wiping out your enemies. He rather takes delight to make you enjoy His comfort and be abundantly satisfied even when you are faced with opposition.

Such an AUDACITY of life can only be experienced when the Lord is truly your SHEPHERD and HOST.

    Selah.
