    SHOD YOUR FEET WITH THE

    PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL 2

“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace”

    Ephesians 6:15

We ended yesterday’s discussion on the note that, to get your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace, includes your going forth with the testimony of our oneness with God in Christ.

Biblically, the usage of “feet” has different intriguing meanings.

The feet could be a symbol of exerting strength and authority, a walk or relationship with God, a believer’s pilgrimage, a demonstration of character, the journey of a messenger, readiness of mind, taking a responsibility or an assignment and a person’s mission.

To “shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace” is mainly to get ready for action in the light of the gospel of peace.

It is to take a stand against the rulers of darkness in the knowledge of the peace or oneness we have with God.

Let’s look at the verse in the Amplified:

“and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news].” Ephesians 6:15 (Amplified Bible)

Here, you see that, the Goodnews of the Gospel produces firm-footed stability and readiness to face the enemy.

The Gospel also denotes a good news which is too good to be true. The reality of being at peace and in oneness with God transcends every imagination.

The feet in this context don’t speak of your physical feet but the readiness of your mind, the character of your heart and your poise to stand up and take action with the gospel.

It speaks of how you journey through life ready in and out of season to demonstrate and enforce the goodnews of peace in your sphere.

When people see you, they must know you as a bearer of the gospel of peace; or as one who is always poised with the gospel of peace.

How you live must be a practical evidence and announcement of our oneness with God.

    SHOD YOUR FEET WITH THE

    PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL 1

It’s been an exciting journey of growing in the knowledge of Christ through this Treasure chest — Machaira with Apostle Bennie.

Today we get back to studying the armor of God. In case you are now joining the discussion on the armor of God, you can read previous rich verities from here. (Just a click and you are opened to a world of deep revelations).

Now let’s get into today’s discussion.

“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace” Ephesians 6:15

To have this verse start with an end means something was being discussed before what we have here. Do well to read previous episodes on the armor of God to understand our journey so far.

The above verse reveals one of the two items in the armor which focuses on the readiness of a soldier.

    1. The Belt of Truth
    2. Shoding your feet.

However, to go into the readiness of a soldier, we have to look at the instrument involved, which is the Gospel of Peace.

    In the armor there is:

The belt of Truth — it focuses on the Word of God, which is the Logos of God. The Logos of God is the expression of God’s thought. It is both the generic sense of the written and spoken word of God. It is the Word of God given to us as Truth.

The Gospel of Peace may also be seen as the Word of God or the Word of Truth. However, there is a precise view of the Word Paul the apostle is referring to in this chapter.

The Gospel of Peace is not necessarily pointing to the Word of God as Truth.

The Gospel of Peace unveils the achievement of the Word of Truth. It is about what Truth has accomplished.

The Gospel of Peace means the Goodnews of Peace. The Goodnews of Peace is not the same as the peace which men seem to find in this world. The true peace which men long for cannot be found in the world. The true peace which men seek can only be found in Christ and as Christ.

Jesus came to bring us Peace.

The Peace which we received in Christ is Christ Himself.

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.” Ephesians 2:14 (NKJV)

This peace transcends life without opposition. The peace which we have in Christ and as Christ is the reality of our oneness with God. It is Christ in us as LIFE.

This Goodnews says, there is no enmity with God. There is no distance nor is there a dividing wall between us and God. There are no divided classes of people in God. We have all been brought into oneness with God as one family.

This is the glorious news you must carry to the nations of the world.

To get your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace, includes your going forth with the testimony of our oneness with God in Christ.

This is how you also enforce your victory in Christ amidst the opposition or deceptive schemes of the rulers of darkness.

    Shalom!

    ADVANCE IN GLORY 1

“And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.”

    2 Cor. 3:18 (Amplified)

Most people look forward to a life of glory.
Such desire and expectation, move some people to eagerly pray for the glory of God.

    – Should the born again pray for the glory of God?

    – Will God share His glory with another?

    – What is glory?

These are three interesting questions we need to look into this week.

The glory of God has a multi-faceted meaning through the scriptures.

The Hebrew word “kâbôd” is derived from the word “kâbêd”. Kâbêd is a verb that means being heavy or weighty. It also means having importance, being prestigious, being honored, and being glorious.

As a noun, kâbôd has two sides, which means:

    a. Ability, power, weight, and strength.

    b. Splendor, dignity, honour, glory, magnificence.

In Greek, the word for GLORY is “doxa”. Its meaning is not too far from the Hebrew, with just some little differences.

“Doxa” interestingly, means opinion, judgment, and view or estimate.

    It also means:

    – splendour, brightness
    (of creation)

    – magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, gracious and kingly majesty of God.

    – the absolute perfection and excellence of Christ;

    – it is the outward or exterior brightness or expression of grace.

    – it is the revelation of the most exalted state of Christ in His resurrection.

    – Doxa also points to the blessedness of the excellence of God which every believer must experience in the now and that which shall be revealed at the appearing of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

From these two main words, “kabod” and “doxa”, we see that Glory is basically the honor, majesty, and excellence of God revealed or showcased.

Glory is the visible consummation of the inward work of God’s grace.

From the explanations above, it is obvious you just can’t jump to the conclusion that God doesn’t share His glory with anyone.

From the meanings of the word GLORY, you will realise it is not used in a straitjacket.

There is the glory which we bring to God only. This is not to make God better but for us to demonstrate our honour for who He is to us.

And there is a glory, the Lord has brought us into and shared with us.

Look at one of the things Jesus said in His prayer:

“And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one” John 17:22 (NKJV)

In our Lord Jesus, there is the revelation of the glory of God’s wonder, goodness, intimate and abiding presence.

Christ revealed the indwelling of the Father’s presence.

See the verse 21 of John 17:

“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.” (NLT).

Until Christ came no one knew the possibility that the LORD GOD could indwell a man.

Yet Jesus who is God made flesh, said “THE FATHER IS IN ME”. (John 14:11)

He said, ” I and My Father are One”. (John 10:30).

This was beyond every human imagination. The religious experts couldn’t comprehend the weight of this matter.

Amazingly, our Lord Jesus points out the result of the glory, He prayed to the Father to give us:

That we may be one as He is one with the Father! (See again John 27:22).

The peak of our experience of divine glory is to SHARE IN THE ONENESS OF FELLOWSHIP WITH THE FATHER AS SONS OF GOD.

The Lord didn’t just bring us salvation, He made us partakers of His glorious life and nature.

Beloved you share in the Father’s glory which is in Christ Jesus.

    Hallelujah!

    ARE YOU GROWING? 5

GOD HAS MADE PROVISIONS FOR YOUR GROWTH

“Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head.

    Ephesians 4:15 (GNT)

For some days now, we have been looking into the matter of your growth or maturity in Christ.

It is imperative to give attention to this subject because it makes all the difference in your fulfilment of purpose.

There are things you cannot achieve in Christ until you grow.
Our heavenly Father is interested in your growth and maturity, thus, He has made every provision for you to grow spiritually.
He didn’t just give you His word, He granted you access (Ephesians 2:18) for you to commune with Him (through prayer and fellowship with the Holy Spirit). He planted you in His Church for you to be nurtured and gave you gifted men to equip you.

See how the apostle puts it:

“And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], [and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church]; until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity]. So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit]. But speaking the truth in love [in all things—both our speech and our lives expressing His truth], let us grow up in all things into Him [following His example] who is the Head—Christ.”
    Ephesians 4:11-15 (Amplified)

From the above verses we see the organic assignment of the gifted men. God’s intention for these gifted men (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers) is to:

    1. Fully equip and perfect the saints for service (or the work of the ministry).

To equip and perfect the saints, furnishes them with the necessary spiritual tools and dexterous skills and mastery for service.

    2.  To build up the body of Christ [the church].

Your growth and maturity contributes to the building up of the body of Christ. Which means, your immaturity can be a deficiency in the body.

These gifted men equip and perfect the saints to build up the body until:

     3. We all reach oneness in the faith.

     4. We all reach oneness in the knowledge of the Son of God.

    5. Growing spiritually to become a mature believer.

    6. Reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness]

    7. Exercising our spiritual gifts in unity.

    8. As we step into these above reality of our growth in the spirit or maturity; WE ARE NO LONGER CHILDREN [SPIRITUALLY IMMATURE].
The spiritually immature are tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine.
When you are not maturing or growing spiritually you become a victim of:

    – every cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men.

     – deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit].

However from these verses we see  again the the matter of LOVE.

Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head. Ephesians 4:15 (GNT)

We grow up into Christ by LOVE. And the reality is, apart from love there is no other way you can genuinely grow up into Christ.
Your growth is not into your self or personal desires. Your growth is into Christ; who is the ultimate example of love.
Our Heavenly Father has made these provisions of gifted men to bring us to the place of MATURING INTO CHRIST in the perfection of His Love.

Submitting to the training of the gifted men God has given you in your “local Church” is your reception and enjoyment of God’s provision for your growth in the spirit.
