    EXPECT OPPOSITIONS

“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries”

    1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV)

Beloved, you should not be surprised when you are confronted by challenges because of the gospel.

Men whose eyes have been blinded by the adversary will always oppose God’s Kingdom plan.

The more you see darkness in a place, the greater the need to spread the gospel wherever you go or move to, and identify opportunities to share the gospel.
This was something Jesus and the early saints frequently utilised. And even in our day, those who are doing well with the gospel have sharpened their skills to identify doors of opportunity, to spread the gospel.

    Look at this:
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few” Matthew 9:35-37 (KJV)

Do you see it? The moment our Lord Jesus saw the multitudes, He saw the opportunity or the need to get souls saved.

When you see people, you must identify the need and the opportunity to spread the gospel. Wherever you go or find yourself, there are opportunities to get many saved.

Don’t be threatened by an impending opposition when you identify a door of opportunity.
Be determined to make the most of such opportunities, as the Holy Spirit inspires you.
You will see from the opening verse that Paul did not fret; he was ready to stay in order to utilise the great door which was opened unto him.

“Regardless, I will remain in Ephesus until the feast of Pentecost. There’s an amazing door of opportunity standing wide open for me to minister here, even though there are many who oppose and stand against me.” 1 Corinthians 16:8-9 (TPT).

He decided to stay for more days in Ephesus, to minister there, even though there were many who opposed and stood against him.
We will later find out that the gospel grew so much in the city of Ephesus and prevailed. (See Acts 19:1-20)

    Always have this in mind:

DARKNESS CANNOT PUT OUT THE BLAZING LIFE-LIGHT! (John 1:5, Message Bible).

Light doesn’t automatically shine in dark places; you must intentionally cause it to shine.

Jesus said, “Let your light so shine” (Matthew 5:16).

The purpose of light is to shine in the darkness. Greater lights are needed to shine in the darkest places.

The dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty; thus, we must invade and saturate such places with the blazing life-light.

We don’t crawl backwards just because of the violence of darkness. The life-light is the love-light, and it is the greatest force of victory.

Beloved, take advantage of every opportunity to spread the gospel without fear of opposition, for the Lord is with you.

FRUIT OF GENEROSITY 1 — INTRODUCTION

“I mention this not because I’m requesting a gift, but so that the fruit of your generosity may bring you an abundant reward”

    Philippians 4:17 (TPT)

Some saints within the Church easily frown at every conversation which has to do with giving or generosity towards the spread of the gospel. These are untrained men.

Some don’t want any conversation about giving or the generosity of the saints because they feel they don’t have the resources to give. But that is a mere demonstration of immaturity or lack of understanding.

Others refuse to give because they assume their giving makes the Church leaders rich. These people don’t know the cost of the spread of the gospel.

Especially in today’s world, the resources needed to spread the gospel are more costly.

When a Church or a ministry desires to massively spread the gospel, they will need to massively commit their resources, because it will cost more. But what is more costly than the blood of Jesus? To reach every soul and to effectively disciple every saint, we must be willing to commit more resources.

Nothing about the spread of the gospel comes cheap; from the time needed, the cost of venue, setting up the meeting place according to the requirements of the government, dealing with harsh weather conditions, equipment, supporting the needs of the saints, paying bills and etc, will not come cheap.

The generosity of the saints or giving of the saints towards God’s Kingdom mission is an opportunity God gives to the saints to demonstrate their love towards His Kingdom.

Every saint in Christ must take advantage of such an opportunity to demonstrate their participation and love in God’s Kingdom.

The generosity of the saints is the joyful sharing of their treasures (valuable resources) for the advancement of the gospel.

The beautiful thing about God’s wisdom in this is that, as you give generously towards the Lord’s work, your love towards the success of His work is deepened.

“for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.” Matthew 6:21 (Amplified Bible)

This then means, generosity is not what God demands or wants from you. Generosity is what God wants for you.

God is not in need of money. He only wants faithful stewards. He wants men He can trust more and more with His Kingdom resources. Men who will not receive His grace in vain but will faithfully serve His purpose with His grace.

This is why, concerning the generosity of the saints, Paul the apostle doesn’t address God’s need but first points out the grace God wants to supply.

Your generosity is first for your benefit. And you must see it as a privilege whenever you have the opportunity to give.

When people think about generosity in the gospel, they first think of it as a means to “increase money” as though it’s another form of lottery.

There are fruits which abound towards you. And since there are fruits of generosity, it means there is a principle of multiplication. However, these fruits of multiplication of generosity transcend the idea of coming with little money and taking more money home.

There are greater fruits which abound towards you because of your generosity.

From the opening verse, you will find that the fruit of generosity brings you abundant reward.

These are the things we will explore further as we continue this conversation.

Your giving doesn’t make God rich. Get this: God’s blessings make you rich. The giving by God’s people is the means by which God executes His kingdom mandate and dispenses His abundance.

After David and His people had given towards His work, He said to the LORD, “But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.” 1 Chronicles 29:14 (ESV)

You don’t give into God’s work to complete God. You give into God’s work as a demonstration of faithfulness towards Him.

    Do you love the Lord?

Are you interested in the expansion of the Kingdom?
Are you interested in the growth of the saints?
Demonstrate your love through your generosity?

The LORD has given you grace.

    Shalom!

    KINGDOM REPUTATION 2

“You already know about his excellent reputation, since he has served alongside me as a loyal son in the work of ministry”

    Philippians 2:22 (TPT)

To have an excellent reputation in the Kingdom means to have a proven and tested worth.

It is not a gift; it is what you faithfully do with the gift of grace at work in you.

It is the consistent impact you make through your consistent labour.

You don’t gain this reputation through a one-time event. You are marked with an excellent reputation by the great impact you make over a period of time.

The Kingdom recognises giant steps. You cannot distinguish yourself in the Kingdom when you don’t participate in a great and distinguished Kingdom assignment.

Don’t be shy to make a visible impact. Until men see your impact, they will not glorify your Heavenly Father.

An excellent Kingdom reputation is not an attempt to please men, but the genuine act of faith to transform lives unto the glory of the Father.

We are called by God from darkness into light to show forth His excellence.

People will always see your impact. No matter how long it takes, consistent impact cannot go unnoticed.

What is your testimony in the body of Christ?

Do people praise the Lord when they hear your name?

What are you doing for the Lord that is worthy of great praise?

When your leader remembers your name or thinks of you, does he or she thank the Lord for your life?

“Give my love to Prisca and Aquila, my partners in ministry serving the Anointed One, Jesus, for they’ve risked their own lives to save mine. I’m so thankful for them, and not just I, but all the congregations among the non-Jewish people respect them for their ministry Romans 16:3-4 (TPT)

If you are truly making an impact, your reputation will be known by the Lord and by the saints.

Be interested in making a tangible impact. Be interested in being the reason the Kingdom expands and lives are transformed in all places. Don’t be selfish and don’t live for your own interest. Live for Christ.

What are you known for in the Kingdom? Will you call it an excellent reputation?

This is a testimony of a brother, Paul the apostle, sent along with Titus:

“With him we are sending the brother who is highly respected in all the churches for his work in preaching the gospel.” 2 Corinthians 8:18 (Goodnews Translation).

The scripture you just read is one of the scriptures which inspired my heart with joy.

How are you celebrated in the Churches for your work in the gospel?

Does your reputation reflect the things which interest the Lord?

As a Kingdom person, your reputation must be that you serve the purpose of the Lord.

    Don’t settle for less.

    Don’t sit on the fence.

Be part of those daring to achieve glorious things for the Kingdom.

    FOCUS ON THE KINGDOM

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

    Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

In the present Church, many have relegated the core mandate of the Church and made the additional benefits of our relationship with God their priority.

Churches today in their bid to help society, have become need-centered rather than Christ-centered.

This has made the present-age, average believer in Christ become focused on his or her individual needs rather than the purpose of Christ.

God is more interested in our individual needs than we are. However, God has a bigger picture and wants us to uphold that picture rather than our personal needs or interests.

Some people attend Church meetings today, not with the same goal as the first-century Church.

The gathering of the saints is not primarily to meet the self-centred needs of the saints. The gathering of the saints is mainly to equip the saints for the work of the ministry.

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12 (NLT)

To do the work of the ministry is to reconcile many to Christ and to disciple them to become the expression of Christ.

As this is achieved, the Kingdom of God expands in the hearts of many.

The goal of the adversary transcends you. The goal of the adversary is to attack your accomplishments in the Kingdom.

He knows that when he can get you depressed, afraid, troubled, and wearied, you will not be able to do the things God wants you to do. When you are not able to stand against his evil schemes and enforce your victory in Christ, you will not be able to shine the glorious light of the Kingdom in the dark places.

The adversary knows that if he could make you live occupied with your personal needs, you will not have the focus on the Kingdom.

When the satisfaction of your personal needs becomes your goal and cravings, Christ will not be at the center of your heart.

Let God (who is your loving Father) take care of your needs, as you set your affection and focus on His assignment for your life.

This was one of the key secrets of King Solomon. He set his focus on his assignment as Israel’s king. He didn’t request personal things but the wisdom to rule God’s people, and God blessed him with wealth and riches.

“Moreover, I will give you what you did not request—both riches and honor—so that during all your days no man in any kingdom will be your equal.” 1 Kings 3:13 (Berean Standard Bible).

Pay attention to what Jesus said:

“So then, forsake your worries! Why would you say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For that is what the unbelievers chase after. Doesn’t your heavenly Father already know the things your bodies require?
“So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.”
     Matthew 6:31-33 (TPT)

We are at war with the forces of darkness to enforce our victory in Christ and to fulfill God’s kingdom plan.

Have a bigger perspective on spiritual warfare.

You are not wrestling against the evil strategies of the accuser (including all his highest evil principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms) because of your personal needs.

You are wrestling against powerful class of demon-gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage, because of the mandate of the Kingdom.

The expansion of God’s Kingdom in the hearts of men and the dark places of the earth should be your focus.
