    WHY HONOUR YOUR LEADERS

“and [we ask that you appreciate them and] hold them in the highest esteem in love because of their work [on your behalf]. Live in peace with one another.”

    1 Thessalonians 5:13 (Amplified Bible)

To address the practical ways to honour your leader, you should first know its importance. Most people don’t see why or the need to appreciate their leaders.

    – Appreciating and honouring the leaders God has set over you is also a demonstration of honour to God.

The Church is established by our Lord Jesus. The Leaders who are set in the Church are appointed by the Lord. They don’t serve themselves or their interest. They serve the interest and the purpose of the Lord. These leaders are accountable to God.

Therefore, to dishonour these leaders is a dishonour to God’s authority. You cannot truly say that you honour the Lord and will dishonour those He has sent to you.

If you honour the Lord, you must honour His messengers.

    – Leaders must be honoured because honour allows them or gives them reason to lead with joy and not with grief. (Hebrews 13:17).

To be a leader in the Kingdom is to serve. It already comes with alot of sacrifice to be in a position of leadership within the Church. Therefore when your leaders are not leading you with joy, it gives you no advantage or benefits. You cannot benefit or gain any profit from an uninspired and griefed leader.

Your honour is part of the things which motivates a leader to express himself to you with joy. Nobody takes delight in teaching a person who is disrespectful and insubmissive or insubordinative.
How can a spiritual leader guide you into God’s agenda when you have refused to submit to his leadership?

When you don’t honour your leaders, you despise their ability to lead and minister to you. This then means you are not going to enjoy edification within the Church. Don’t increase the difficulty of their work.

    – Honouring your leaders is proof of humility.

“Likewise, you younger men [of lesser rank and experience], be subject to your elders [seek their counsel]; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another [tie on the servant’s apron], for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD [the disdainful, the presumptuous, and He defeats them], BUT HE GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.” 1 Peter 5:5 (Amplified Bible)

Leaders enjoy more grace as they humble themselves in service. As you also submit and humble yourself to your leaders you also enjoy increased grace. To be proud is to set yourself up against the supply of God’s grace.

You have to train your mind to walk in honour.

Have you appreciated your leader today?

Appreciating and honouring your leaders is an obedience to the wisdom of God.

APPRECIATE AND HONOR YOUR LEADERS 2

“And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you”

    1 Thessalonians 5:12 (KJV)

Some believers are orphaned in doctrinal truth concerning New Testament leadership, believers’ character or conduct, and even consistent revelation of Jesus.

On matters of leadership, some jump into conclusion that, since we are in the New Testament, there is nothing like higher leadership rank.

    They conclude that:

    – Jesus has made all believers equal in Him, therefore, no one is set higher or above the saints.

    – And also, Jesus is the only Shepherd we submit to as believers and not to any other fellow saints.

Such teachings are propagated by people who are rebellious or those who wish to rule over others but never got the opportunity. These people are like Korah, Dathan, and Abiram (Numbers 16; Jude 1:11).

Because they are not appointed to lead, they become rebellious and attempt to mock the concept of spiritual authority. Meanwhile, these are people who prefer to follow their own desires and live without submission (Jude 1:8). Don’t follow such scoffers.

Some of the people who uphold such thoughts are also people who are trapped in bitterness. These people were either victims or witnesses of toxic leadership.

People can be warned and taught to identify toxic leaders. But, toxic leaders must not be the reason to propagate a campaign against a clear leadership system in the New Testament.

Toxic leaders don’t really “labour”; they would rather want to enjoy the labour of others.

There are people who, through their genuine labour, are engraced and given a rank to spearhead a divine course in a generation.

Some are leaders set over you within your assembly, and others within the body of Christ.

Pay attention to the words of Paul the apostle again:

“And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you” 1 Thessalonians 5:12 (KJV)

The expression “ARE OVER” is from the Greek word “PROISTĒMI”.

Proistēmi is a strong expression of responsibility or authority.

It means “to care for” or “give attention to”.

    Is that all there is?

Proistēmi also means “to set or “place before”. This means “to be set over”, “to preside over”, “to be in charge over”, “to stand in rank over”, “to rule over”, and “to be a protector” or “guardian”, or “to give aid”.

The word “KNOW” also means “to look on”, “be concerned with”, “behold”, “acknowledge”, and to “appreciate”.

Any teaching that makes you feel you are your own authority and don’t have to submit to anyone apart from Jesus, is nurturing your heart not to acknowledge and appreciate those the Lord has set to be ranked, to preside, to rule, and to guide you.

The leaders set over the saints by the Lord are equal with the saints in life and nature. Yet they are first in the administration of God’s work. Though the leaders set over you are your brothers as to the enjoyment of grace, yet as to touching service, they are the most slaves.

And Jesus was clear on this, “he that is greatest (meizōn, larger) among you shall by your servant”

The leading ones are the most serving ones, and must be greatly appreciated for their service.

Have you appreciated your leader today?

WISDOM KEYS FROM PSALM 37 — DON’T ENVY THE WICKED 5 – You have Eternal Rewards

“Day by day the Lord watches the good deeds of the godly
and he prepares for them his forever-reward.”

    Psalm 37:18 (TPT)

Do you get tired or feel weary for the good deeds you do?

Sometimes you are tempted to feel the wicked does no good thing yet they have a smooth life.

Your good deeds will never go unrewarded. Don’t get tired of doing good.

    Don’t learn from the wicked.
You are designed by God for good works which are foreordained that you operate in them (Ephesians 2:10).

“For God, the Faithful One, is not unfair. How can he forget the work you have done for him? He remembers the love you demonstrate as you continually serve his beloved ones for the glory of his name.” Hebrews 6:10 (TPT)

God has bountiful rewards for those who do good deeds.

Also, a fellow who understands that in Christ we receive gifts of eternal life will begin to wonder if this part of the Psalm is for the forgiven ones.
    Beloved, it sure is.

Through the finished work of Christ on the cross, we receive the gift of eternal life. By the good works of faith, we demonstrate the goodness of God to others.

In the Church, there are people who assume there are no reward systems. But that is not true.

The rewards system of the Kingdom is not necessarily how you work hard to become righteous and receive Heavenly citizenship.
The matter of good deeds is a matter of serving God’s purpose with the abilities He has invested in you.

How you serve faithfully will determine how the Lord will honor you.
Remember this is not about Salvation.

    Take note;

Through God’s saving grace you became born again. To be born again is to receive the life of Christ. At new birth, we all became kings and priests in the household of God.
We all received a royal crown (“diadema” in Greek) for reigning.

Nonetheless, the forever-rewards of the Lord for your good deeds are honoring crowns of reward. These crowns are different from “diadema”, they are called “Stephanos”.
This crown is a symbol of triumph.
God gives those who demonstrate great deeds of faith these victory-crowns as honor. This is not about obtaining salvation. Christ has already obtained eternal salvation for you. However, the LORD rewards you for the good things you do with the salvation which you have received.

This is what Paul the apostle said about himself:

“I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose that Jesus Christ has called me to fulfill and wants me to discover. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14 (TPT)

No wonder he relentlessly laboured for the spread of the gospel.

He then charged the saints including you with this:

“And let us all advance together to reach this victory-prize, following one path with one passion.” Philippians 3:16 (TPT).

Don’t sit on the fence, don’t fold your arms and don’t relent.

Day by day the Lord watches your good deeds.
Serve and be a blessing to others. Do good that the Lord will be glorified.
    Hallelujah!

    STEWARDS OF GOD’S RESOURCES 13

“Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. “Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.”

    2 Chronicles 29:12‐14 (NKJV)

The matter of stewardship is a crucial matter of our walk with God.

Your commitment to God, loyalty to His purpose and integrity of heart are demonstrated through your stewardship.

As I have mentioned in previous posts:

Your stewardship begins by first acknowledging that God is the creator of all things; thus, He is the source of all things.

Anyone who made a great Kingdom impact (all through the scriptures) walked in this consciousness.

Until you acknowledge God as the Creator and the source of all resources, you cannot serve Him with the resources available to you. God, the source of all things, determines the true meaning of things. Therefore whatever finds meaning must be submitted and be useful to God.

We have also addressed that, every steward will make account of how he used God’s resources to serve God’s Kingdom mandate.

As faithful stewards, we serve the Lord with all of our being, our time and our abilities.
You must recognize that these things are valuable resources and must be committed to God.

Your time and abilities are not the only resources committed to us by God. The expansion of God’s Kingdom also requires proper use of silver and gold (precisely money).

The stewardship of money has been the major emphasis of our stewardship in the Church.

We shouldn’t think the stewardship of money is an exaggeration. This is because money has become one of the mediums by which people appreciate the value of things.

Your stewardship of money also begins from first recognizing God as the source of every money you have.

When you recognize God as the source of your wealth or the money that comes to your hand you will honor and serve Him with it.

Our stewardship of money or finances is not only demonstrated in how we generously give towards God’s Kingdom mission. It is also seen or demonstrated in how we manage or make prudent decisions about money, the wise investments we make and the recognition and acknowledgement of God’s generosity towards us.

To recognize God’s generosity towards you, will not make you see your generous giving as a donation. Your giving becomes a medium of honor.

“Honor the Lord with your wealth And with the first fruits of all your crops (income)” Proverbs 3:9 (Amplified Bible)

As a steward, you must see your giving to God as a means of showing honor to God.

David the King understood this; so after himself and his people had given to the building of the Lord’s Temple, they didn’t see it as helping God or as donation to God. To them, it was a means of honoring God.

As we have seen in the opening verse, let’s have another read:

“Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. “Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.” 1 Chronicles 29:12-14 (Amplified Bible)

See the verse 16 as well:

“O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own” 1 Chronicles 29:16 (Amplified Bible).

Faithful stewards understand the privilege of serving the Lord with their wealth or money, through giving.

Don’t be a steward who goes all out to serve the Lord with all of their being, time, ideas, and abilities but wouldn’t see the need to serve the Lord with their money.

As long you have been able to serve the Lord with your being, be diligent to commit your money or wealth to the mission of the Kingdom.

Be a faithful steward of God’s resources.

    Selah.

EPISODE 558 – DELIGHT IN HIM

    CHRIST COMMONWEALTH-COMMUNITY

    The Love-Life Agency

    DELIGHT IN HIM

“Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him”
    John 14:23 (NKJV)

From John chapter 13 to chapter 17, Jesus’ last conversation with His disciples before His arrest.

The things He shared with them were deep heartfelt thoughts.
These conversations and teachings of Jesus were so crucial because they were full of rich realities which would sustain them and usher them into a deeper walk with Him.
Our walk with Jesus is a walk of intimacy.
When Jesus said, “If you love me you will keep my commandments” (John 14:16)

He wasn’t placing an exhaustive burdensome demand on us.

He was sharing how those who love Him will respond to Him. Period!

And take note: Those who love Him, are those who are loved by Him.

Keeping His commandments is not what brings you into His love.

Instead, because you love Him, you keep His commandments.

That is why I shared with you previously that, to keep the commandment of Jesus is a product or result of His love in you.

And again, your love for Jesus is not as unconditional as His love for you; because His love is the condition of your love.
Your love for Jesus is programmed by His love.
Jesus has no imperfections. He has no weakness, He has no sin and makes no mistakes. He is the meaning of excellence and beauty. When you behold Him, you see the true meaning of holiness, perfection, love, power, honor and glory.

You will only love Him and enjoy Him as you behold Him.

When you see Him, you will only see His love for you and all men.

You will not see burdensome rules and regulations. You will see His outstretched arm of love.

When John the Baptist saw Jesus, He beheld the greatest act of love in the universe.
He said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

“…God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

    Oh glory to God!
Jesus’ death is the demonstration of God’s greatest love. (See also John 3:16).
So how do you love Jesus?

Now get this, you keep (do or obey) His words or commandments, by delighting in Him.

The scriptures reveal that the Father loves the Son (John 3:35)

Now look at how the Father explains His love for the Son:

Two times in the scriptures (both at the baptism of Jesus and His Transfiguration experience), we see the Father revealing how He loves His Son:

“And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “ You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” Luke 3:22 (NKJV)

“While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, ” This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” Matthew 17:5
This is the way to love the Son; He is so perfect you only delight or be pleased in Him.
Beloved, as you delight and enjoy the Lord Jesus, His words will only be a treasure of life and hope for your living.
