    DON’T FORGET

“Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.”

    Proverbs 4:5 (NKJV)

God does nothing without His word.
He created the Heavens and the earth by His word. (Genesis 1:3).

Even the worlds were framed by His Word (Hebrews 11:3).

He spoke forth the promise of Salvation through the seed of the woman.

Salvation came to mankind through the Word. The Word became flesh so He could complete and fulfil God’s Salvation plan. (John 1:1,14, 29).

Even the new birth of incorruptibility is by the word of God (1 Peter 1:23)

God’s word is powerful (Hebrews 4:12), and it is the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24).

The word of God has the ability to quicken your soul (Psalm 119:25,50)

The Word of God doesn’t fail.

“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
    Isaiah 55:10-11 (KJV)

    You will find these three things;

    1. God’s word is fruit-bearing.
    2. God’s word accomplishes God’s pleasure.
    3. God’s word prospers.

Every word of God concerning you shall not fail, just as the prophetic word of our Lord Jesus did not fail. Peter the apostle said, “We have a more sure word of prophecy” (2 Peter 1:19).

You have a responsibility to know the sure word of prophecy and to continuously walk in the remembrance of the word.

The reality is this: whatever God has said about you will bear fruit.

You don’t have to forget. You don’t have to let it slip out of your mind or heart. Stay glued to the word. The more you set your heart on it through meditation, the more you become courageous and increase in faith for the manifestation of the Word.

The adversary knows that when you forget, you will not be able to experience or enjoy the prosperity of the Word. He labours to get your heart distracted from what God has said, so that you will walk in faithlessness.

Your greatest disadvantage has always been how you become forgetful of what God has said.

Don’t allow failures, mammon, self-gratification, challenges, or negative situations to make you forget or doubt the word of the Lord.

What is the word you have received?

Know that the word of God which you have received shall prosper, be accomplished and produce fruits.

    Therefore, don’t forget!

If only you would not forget, you would see the manifestation of the word.

Put yourself into remembrance every day.

There’s blessing in not forgetting the word of the Lord.

    SIXTEEN PROJECTILES TO INTERCEPT 4

“so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.”

    2 Corinthians 2:11 (ESV)

As discussed in previous episodes, ignorance is not an option when dealing with the adversary.

There are projectiles of the adversary we have to always be aware of and not be unguarded:

    1. Disappointment
    2. Discouragement
    3. Despair

There is another crucial or most dangerous projectile of the adversary every believer has to beware of at any given time.

    4. Doubt.
This has been discussed in other episodes of Machaira with Apostle Bennie.

To remind you continuously of such is to let you know how deadly it could be. The adversary used this projectile in Eden.

He made Adam and Eve doubt what God had said to them and also doubt their identity.

“Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
     Genesis 3:1-5 (KJV)

This was the beginning of man’s corruptibility.

    5. Unbelief or Disbelief
Just as the adversary uses disappointment to produce discouragement and despair, he also uses doubt to produce unbelief.

Doubt is unbelief or faithlessness began. And without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

To have unbelief is also referred to as evil-heartedness.

“So search your hearts every day, my brothers and sisters, and make sure that none of you has evil or unbelief hiding within you. For it will lead you astray, and make you unresponsive to the living God.” Hebrews 3:12 (TPT)

The goal of the adversary’s weapon of unbelief is to make you unresponsive to God. When you are not responding to God, His word will not produce results in your life.

    Doubt and unbelief cripple faith.

To be disappointed, will lead to discouragement and despair. These also fuel doubt which leads to unbelief. Many people became atheists by such schemes of the devil. Some people have abandoned their call because of such an attack from the adversary.

You cannot be a victim of such projectiles of the devil. Anytime you start doubting your identity, you must know it will lead you to unresponsiveness to God.

Stay alert to resist the devil.

    THE 5 BETTER NOTS 11

(Gleanings From the Book of Hebrews)

“See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven” Hebrews 12:25 (KJV)

Finally, we come to the fifth point of the FIVE (5) BETTER NOTS.

    1. DON’T DISREGARD THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU.

    2. DON’T DOUBT GOD’S WORD.

    3. DON’T DESPISE THE WORD OF GOD.

    4. DON’T DRAW AWAY OR DEPART FROM THE WORD.

    5. DON’T REFUSE OR DENY THE WORD OF THE LORD.

These 5 Better Nots are crucial because they all point to more severe consequences.

These 5 Better Nots are to both the saved and the unsaved.

When the unsaved disregard, doubt, despise, draw away, deny or refuse the Word of God in Christ, they will not be saved.

When the saved also disregard, doubt, despise, draw away, deny or refuse the Word of God in Christ, they will not ENJOY THE FULLNESS OF THEIR INHERITANCE.

It is better not to do these five things because they determine your faith or faithlessness. And without faith it is impossible to please God.

Though these Five (5) Better Nots are not the only warnings in the Book of Hebrews (we will be discussing other warnings later), these ones determine the foundation of your faith.

From Hebrews 12, what we find is that the Word of God is also referred to as the Voice of the Lord.

The author explains that all those who have come to Christ have not come to Mount Sinai as of the Old, but “by contrast, we have already come near to God in a totally different realm, the Zion-realm, for we have entered the city of the Living God, which is the New Jerusalem in heaven! We have joined the festal gathering of myriads of angels in their joyous celebration!” Hebrews 12:22 (TPT).

The thing is this, at Mount Sinai people couldn’t stand on their feet. They trembled in terror when they were warned by the jarring blast and the thundering voice. When they heard the voice at Sinai they begged that the fearful voice may be silent.

At Sinai, the voice spoke condemnation because it was to judge them by the law or the “Sinai” covenant invoked.

    The voice even commanded that:

“If so much as an animal approaches the mountain it is to be stoned to death!” (Hebrews 12:20).

It seemed impossible to be approached.

This is no longer the condition of the Voice of the Lord. In the Old when God spoke, His Voice was unapproachable, but now in Christ, He has fully spoken and expressed His heart (Hebrews 1:1-2).

Christ who is the speaking of the ultimate revelation of God has brought us into the refreshing presence of God.

Through Christ, God’s Voice now speaks forgiveness because the condition is no longer based on the self-efforts of God’s people.

Let me get this straight to you:

This doesn’t mean that God’s Voice has changed. God’s Voice has not changed. It is the covenant or the condition which has changed because of Christ. The covenant or the condition did not change God. The condition and covenants changed our position and how we are able to respond to God.

Until Christ, man was to respond to the voice of God by their self-efforts or obedience through the law. But now in Christ, you respond to God through the forgiveness of Christ.

Your response to God is no longer according to your self-efforts or your position of obedience. Your response to God is according to the obedience of Christ.

“And we have come to Jesus who established a new covenant with his blood sprinkled upon the mercy seat; blood that continues to speak from heaven, “forgiveness,” a better message than Abel’s blood that cries from the earth, “justice.” Hebrews 12: 24 (KJV).

    This is amazing!

This then gives clarity to the fifth warning.

By the blood of Jesus, we have been brought to a place in Christ where we can hear the voice of the Lord without being terrified.

When you reject or deny God’s voice or God’s speaking in Christ, you have rejected all the legal accomplishments of the blood of Christ.

Which means you have chosen to hear and respond to the Voice of God as it were in Sinai. You shall be terrified.

The author of Hebrews further explains this:

The change is not the voice but your position to hear the voice.

The voice of the Lord is not only shaking the systems of the world, but it is also shaking the unseen powers in the heavenly realm once. (Hebrews 12:26, TPT)

Now where you are positioned to hear His voice, will determine whether you will be shaken with terror or be firmly established and unshakeable with purest thanksgiving and purest worship which delight the LORD (Hebrews 12:27-28).

Beloved, to reject the Gospel of Christ Jesus is to reject the final Word of the Lord to you.

Are you hearing the voice of the Lord in Christ or you have rejected Him (the Ultimate Voice or Word of God)?

If you do or have rejected His voice in Christ then be ready to hear the Lord as the people did at Sinai.
    Selah.

    THE 5 BETTER NOTS 5

(Gleanings From the Book of Hebrews)

“This is what the scripture says: “If you hear God’s voice today, do not be stubborn, as your ancestors were when they rebelled against God.”

    Hebrews 3:15 (Good News Translation)

    DON’T DOUBT GOD’S WORD!

Some assume these warnings are legalistic and not grace-centered.

There are countless warnings to the saints in the apostolic writings.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:17 (ESV)

The scriptures establish doctrines, provide exhortation, equip, rebuke, correct, give Prophetic warning and beseech.

The Grace of God doesn’t watch on for wrongs to prevail. The Grace of God is God’s solution to man’s weakness and ungodliness.

In the epistle Paul (the apostle of the Grace of God) wrote to Titus, he explained one of the functions of Grace in the lives of the saints:

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works” Titus 2:11-14 (KJV)

Whenever you see a warning in the scriptures, it is important for you to give a careful look at it. You overlook such warnings at your own peril.

Warnings are cautions to keep you away from danger. Warnings are put up because there is the possibility someone may become a victim of those dangers.

Don’t ever turn away from certain warnings, and most importantly, when the warning signs are prevalent. The warnings become intense when the consequences may be drastic.

Especially with the warnings in the epistles. And even the ones we are presently looking into in this series of “5 BETTER NOTS”.

Just in Hebrews 3, you will see a repetition of the same warning.

    – Verses 7-8 (NKJV): “Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:“ Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness”

    – Verses 12-13 (NKJV): Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

    – Verse 15, as we have in the opening verse: “while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.

When you are driving on a highway and in the direction you are heading you see a road sign with an indication, “ROAD CONSTRUCTION AHEAD” it’s to help you know what you have ahead. The moment you start seeing “SLOW DOWN”, at least twice or thrice, it means you are close to the construction site. You will be driving above the speed limit which may be indicated at your own risk.

To save yourself from any form of danger you have to observe and give attention to the warning signs.

One of the crucial warning signs we see in Hebrews 3 is “DON’T DOUBT THE WORD OF GOD”.

Beloved, to doubt the Word of God is to harden your heart and walk in unbelief.

The word of God cannot germinate or become fruitful in a hardened heart. To harden your heart is to set yourself against what God has said.

To walk in unbelief is ruinous. To walk in unbelief is to live contrary to faith. And a life which is not of faith does not please God.

But without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God, must believe that He is, and is a rewarder to them that seek Him” Hebrews 11:6 (Douay-Rheims Bible)

The derelict consequence of unbelief or a hardness of heart is not caused by God. It is caused by the condition of your heart. The adversary knows how much God loves you. But also knows how God’s love cannot legally flourish in your heart when you deny and doubt its working ability.

To have the word of God yield results in your life, you must refuse to doubt what God has said.

Sometimes the challenges may seem to be overwhelming but don’t be moved by what you see.

Stay GRIT in the Word of God.

    THE 5 BETTER NOTS 4

(Gleanings From the Book of Hebrews)

“This is what the scripture says: “If you hear God’s voice today, do not be stubborn, as your ancestors were when they rebelled against God.”

    Hebrews 3:15 (Good News Translation)

These gleanings from the book of Hebrews under the subject matter: THE 5 BETTER NOTS, are going to help you get deeply rooted in the revelation of the Lord and also to remain resolute in faith amidst this season of contradictory doctrines.

There are many glorious things Christ had accomplished for the saints.
And the adversary knows the only way the believer wouldn’t enjoy these things or the glorious inheritance which Christ has accomplished and the things Christ is presently doing for the saints is when they disregard the Words of Christ.

Thus, the need for the author of  Hebrews to warn the saints.

Someone reading this may think “I am a believer in Christ and not a Hebrew. Therefore the message is not written to me and not a crucial matter for me as it may be for the Jews.”

It is a fact that the Epistle was written with details which will help bring the Jews into the understanding of what Christ has done. However, all scriptures are written for our learning (Romans 15:4).

Everything written in the scriptures is for all who believe in the Lord as Abraham believed.

“So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.” Galatians 3:9 (New Living Translation)

Moreover, the “Jews” (there is more to say about the name Jews, but we’ll look into it later), are not the only Hebrews.

To get into the Second warning the author of Hebrews gave in his epistle, we must understand who a Hebrew is.

In truth, the first Hebrew wasn’t a Jew. In the scriptures, Abraham was the first to be called a Hebrew.

    “… Abraham the Hebrew…” Genesis 14:14.

And this verse was the first time the word “Hebrew”  was used in the Bible

The word Hebrew speaks of one who had come from the other side of the river. To be a Hebrew means to be a river crosser. It means one who has passed over from the other side.

In the days of Abraham, he was technically the only one who believed in the only one God. All those who were of his tribe believed in other gods. And these people were beyond the river.

When Joshua was helping the new generation of Israel elders and heads of the tribes to understand their roots, he made profound pointers to help them understand what it means to be a Hebrew.

Let’s look at the summary of what Joshua said:

“And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac…And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

    Joshua 24:2-3,13-15 (KJV)

From Joshua’s Prophetic utterance, you can see that he established the distinction between the Hebrew (Abraham and his descendants) and those who remained on the side of the flood or the river. To be a Hebrew is a symbolic reality of one who has departed from idols to serve the only true God.

To be a Hebrew suggest something more spiritual than ones genetic status. It is more about your spiritual connection than your physical location.

Do you know the believer in Christ can also be referred to as a Hebrew?

Has the believer in Christ not passed over from death to life?

The believer in Christ has crossed over or transversed or passed over from the power of darkness to the kingdom of the Son?

Precious saints, by the revelation of the scriptures you are also a Hebrew.

This means you must highly esteem the writings in the book of Hebrews as a message of the Lord to you. Every matter addressed must be taken to heart.

Which means as the Lord warned the Hebrews through the author of the epistle, the Lord is also warning you.

    1. DON’T DISREGARD THE WORD OF CHRIST TO YOU.

    2. Second warning:

    DON’T DOUBT GOD’S WORD!

As you can see in the opening verse:

“This is what the scripture says: “If you hear God’s voice today, do not be stubborn, as your ancestors were when they rebelled against God.”
    Hebrews 3:15 (Good News Translation)

Abraham who is the first Hebrew, didn’t  disregard the Word of the Lord that came to him to leave his tribe to a land where the Lord will show him. He didn’t also doubt the Lord.

To act stubbornly towards the Word of God is to demonstrate a hardened heart. This is what produces doubt. To doubt the Word of the Lord is to deny the potency of His Word.

When you deny the potency of the Word of God in your heart you have automatically submitted your heart to another voice which is not of God.

This was the condition of the Israelites who couldn’t enter their inheritance while they were in the wilderness. These Israelites who doubted the Word of the Lord died in the wilderness without witnessing the land God promised them. They couldn’t enter and enjoy the rest of God. It wasn’t that God was wicked, it was because their DOUBT resisted them.

Your greatest limitation is the doubt in your heart.

If you will believe the Word of the Lord and not have doubt in your heart, you shall enjoy the fullness of the glorious inheritance given to all the saints in Christ Jesus.

Refuse to doubt the Word of the Lord.

    TWO CRUCIAL RUDDERS 3

“A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds”

    James 3:4 (Amplified Bible)

There are times when people sincerely don’t know what to do to experience advancement. People look at the accomplishments of others and begin to think, they are not as privileged as them.

What you should understand is that we all have equal privileges in Christ, though our moments of manifestation may differ. Also, the resources available to you will not automatically determine your advancement.

As I have mentioned in the previous episode, the first crucial rudder you must steer is your MIND!

Some people look to God for provision but don’t give attention to shaping and renewing their minds to think as God wants them to think.

When you steer your thoughts, to align with the thoughts of God, you will have the God-kind of results.

You can have a God-kind of life and not produce the God-kind of results because of your thoughts.

To have the God-kind of results you must have the God-kind of thoughts.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

The thoughts of God are higher than the thoughts of men. The more you meditate on the word of God, the more your mind is aligned with God’s thoughts.

God’s thoughts of you are to bring you to a glorious end.

“I say this because I know the plans that I have for you.” This message is from the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (ERV)

The word of God contains God’s plans and purposes for your life. Steer your mind with the revelation of His Word.

You may think that because God can do exceedingly abundantly above all that you can ask or think, you don’t have to steer your mind or thoughts towards any direction. You may assume that whichever way you direct your mind, God will still do the unimaginable.

It is that same reason people don’t pray or ask (or make supplication to) God for anything. They think whatever will be, will be.

Such thoughts have made many believers walk in defeat. Since God will exceed your wildest imagination, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a wild imagination.

A greatly wild imagination which will bring glory to God, is evidence that you don’t doubt the power of God in you.

Take a look at the Passion
    Translation:

Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.” Ephesians 3:20 (TPT)

Did you notice the first phrase?

    Never doubt God’s mighty power…
To doubt God is to move your mind away from what God can do through you. To doubt God is also the limitation of the ability of God.

You may not experience the unlimited results of God’s power in you when you have doubts in your thoughts.

Even though God will outdo your wildest imagination, He wants you to still steer your mind towards exceedingly great dreams, which are inspired by His word.

Don’t be limited in your thoughts.

Whatever you want to experience or achieve, see it with your mind. Direct or steer your mind towards it, even as you pray.
