WORK THE WORD INTO YOU
βThis Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.βΒ
Joshua 1:8 (ESV)
Meditation is not a mere religious clichΓ©. It is a proven divine method for good success.
This statement to Joshua in our opening verse is repeatedly affirmed in the scriptures.
Take a look at another verse:
βBut his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.βΒ Psalm 1:2-3 (NKJV)
This is exciting.
There is so much the meditation of the Word does to you; it brings the richness of the Word of God unto fruition in your life.
Some struggle to be diligent inΒ meditating on the Word of GodΒ because they have not made it their delight.
This is the point:
Whether you are conscious of it or not, you are always involved in some level of meditation. The issue has always been what you are meditating on daily. If you want to see the results of theΒ Word of God, you must meditate on the Word.Β
Until the Word of God becomes your delight, you will not make it your object of meditation.
Therefore, delight in the Word.
These are basic steps for effective meditation.
1. Read the Word (and also listen to the teachings of the Word of Grace).
You have access to the Word of God through the reading of the Bible. The Bible addresses every situation.Β Be an avid reader of the BibleΒ to know what God has said about your situation.

The Word of God also comes to you through sound teachings (therefore listen to tapesΒ andΒ be present at Church meetings. God always has a word for you).
2. Intentionally memorize the scriptures. Donβt be forgetful.
The word doesnβt manifest just because you are aware of the scriptures. This doesnβt suggest you donβt have to be aware of the scriptures. What it means is that memorizing or being aware of the scriptures is not the end in itself. Memorizing the scriptures is useful for meditation. When you memorize a specific scripture, it becomes easy to regurgitate.
3. Continue daily, at every given time, to think upon or mull over the Word in your heart over and over again. And then mutter, speak those words to yourself, till it becomes your bold and loud joyful confessions.
This brings you to the state where you are not only aware of the Word, but you personalize and exercise ownership of the revelation of the Word for your manifestation.
Selah.
We pray that:
We will have the discipline and diligence to continuously set our hearts on the meditation of the Word.
In the name of Jesus!
