ESTEEM THIS ABOVE ANY OTHER CALLING
“How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7 (NKJV)
The assignment to proclaim or herald the good news of Jesus is a high calling.
During a time of war, the only news the people in the city look forward to is good news. The people esteem the coming of the messengers.
Just as David, the king was waiting for the news from the pursuit of Absalom. (2 Samuel 18). David positioned the watchman of the tower to look forward to the coming of a messenger.
The people of antiquity eagerly looked forward to the messengers from the battlefield. The news from a messenger can determine the stability and instability of a people, which made the responsibility of a messenger during those times a high calling.
“Look, a messenger is coming over the mountains with good news! He is on his way to announce the victory! People of Judah, celebrate your festivals and give God what you solemnly promised him. The wicked will never invade your land again. They have been totally destroyed!” Nahum 1:15 (Good News Translation)
How a messenger is seen running gives the impression of victory or goodnews from the battlefield.
As heralds of the gospel, you must have an attitude of victory. You must proclaim the goodnews of Jesus with joy.
Another prophetic item we see in all these prophetic scriptures about the coming of the messenger is the MOUNTAINS.

Though the mountains in these verses give an idea of the landscape of Jerusalem, they also provide imagery of the coming of the messenger.
Jerusalem is situated on a mountain.
“… Solomon began to build the temple of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David…” 2 (Chronicles 3:1)
And Jerusalem is also surrounded by mountains.
“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.” (Psalm 125:1-2)
Thus, as the messengers come to Jerusalem with their good news, they will be seen coming down the mountains. Nevertheless, mountains also have deeper meanings in the scriptures. Mountains depict exaltation, greatness and higher experience.
Get this, though mountains surround Jerusalem, there are plains in between Jerusalem and the mountains, since Jerusalem is also on a mountain.
So why didn’t the prophet speak of the messengers running in the valley?
The Prophet used the mountains not to show the landscape around Jerusalem, but used the landscape around Jerusalem to show the HIGH CALLING of the messenger with beautiful feet.
Your calling and commission to publish or herald the good news of Jesus is as one with beautiful feet upon the mountains; because it is a high calling.
Don’t belittle the responsibility of heralding or preaching the glorious gospel of Jesus. Esteem it above any other calling.
