TAKE THE WORD AS IT IS
“Jesus looked at her and said, “Didn’t I tell you that if you will believe in me, you will see God unveil his power?”
John 11:40 (TPT)
Until you learn to esteem God’s Word in your life, your focus towards God may be impaired.
There are times, because you may feel disappointed that God didn’t do things as you expected, you begin to doubt His word.
God always has a bigger picture for your life; therefore, you don’t put Him in a box or set boundaries for Him.
No challenge should be big enough to move you away from God. No challenge should be big enough to make you doubt God.
From the beginning of John 11, we can see that Jesus received a message concerning Lazarus’ health condition. And knowing how Jesus loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus, they were expecting a different response from Jesus than what happened.
“One day Lazarus became very sick to the point of death. So his sisters sent a message to Jesus, “Lord, our brother Lazarus, the one you love, is very sick. Please come!”
When he heard this, he said, “This sickness will not end in death for Lazarus, but will bring glory and praise to God. This will reveal the greatness of the Son of God by what takes place.” Now even though Jesus loved Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, he remained where he was for two more days. Finally, on the third day, he said to his disciples, “Come. It’s time to go to Bethany”. John 11:2-7 (TPT).
Now, when Jesus arrived, His friend Lazarus had been dead and buried for four days.
Now, clearly, Mary and Martha were disappointed that Jesus didn’t come early. And they all expressed their disappointment uniquely.
But let me draw your attention to a similar situation.
The story of the Roman Centurion, he had a servant who was sick and requested Jesus to speak a word instead of visiting him. (See Matthew 8:5-13).

Mary and Martha could have demonstrated similar faith to see their brother healed. Well, they were disappointed instead, and we see Martha responding wrongly to Jesus.
Don’t allow your experiences (which may also include your disappointments), assumptions, and limited knowledge, define your response to God’s word.
To exercise absolute confidence in God’s Word, take God’s Word as it is. Don’t read your preconceived motive into His word.
Martha went to meet Jesus when He was approaching their village:
“Martha said to Jesus, “My Lord, if only you had come sooner, my brother wouldn’t have died. But I know that if you were to ask God for anything, he would do it for you.” Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise and live.” She replied, “Yes, I know he will rise with everyone else on resurrection day.” John 11:21-24 (TPT).
Martha believed in Jesus at the level of what she had experienced, not according to the Word of the Lord.
She has seen and heard that Jesus healed the sick. However, she didn’t know Jesus as the resurrection and the life.
When Jesus said, your brother shall rise, she responded with head knowledge:
“Yes, I know he will rise with everyone else on resurrection day.”.
However, to walk in absolute confidence in God’s word, you must respond to God with your heart.
This was why even after Jesus had explained that He is the resurrection and the life, Martha had to make an argument about the decomposition of Lazarus’ body.
She was still responding to Jesus according to her head knowledge. Faith is responding to God according to His word and not by how you feel.
Stand and act consistently according to the WORD and not your mere experience.
Selah.
