UNDERSTANDING SALVATION
AND REPENTANCE 3
“Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”
Romans 2:4 (NKJV)
The preaching of the gospel is a message of God’s kindness unto Salvation. Salvation, which is by God’s goodness in the heart of the believer, will lead to repentance.
This is the focus of the preaching of the gospel of Jesus.
As I have explained in the previous episode, the word “REPENTANCE” in the Greek is not exactly the same as “REPENT”.
The word “REPENT” is from the Greek word,
“metanoeō”, which means “to think differently” or to have a change of mind.
While the word REPENTANCE is from the Greek word “metanoia”.
This is not just a change of thinking. It includes both a change of thinking and a state of moral action.
The Biblical difference between Repent (metanoeō, which is a noun) and Repentance (metanoia, which is a verb) is more than what they are in part of speech (noun and verb). Their Biblical meaning helps give clarity to their place in the concept of Salvation.
I have already explained that Jesus didn’t come to preach repentance; His message was Himself. However, it was recorded that He announced that the Jews should repent, because His teachings were to produce a radical mind shift.
Until they repent, that is, change their thinking from the Old covenant belief system and to believe in Him, they cannot experience Eternal Salvation.

You remain a blessing!
When you hear the gospel and you refuse to have a change of mind or turn away (repent) from the old way of thinking, you are technically resisting your salvation.
Stephen, addressing the Sanhedrin, said:
“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” Acts 7:51 (NKJV)
The preaching of Jesus was to radically shift the Jewish minds from the Old Covenant to the fulfilment of the New Covenant in Him.
He was announcing to them to turn away from their self-efforts, and believe in Him unto Salvation.
What this means is that those who believed in Jesus repented from their old way of thinking. They had a change of mind to see Jesus as their saviour.
Do you get the clarity now?
Whenever the message of Jesus is preached and you believe, it means you have changed your thinking. To repent is to have a shift in your worldview.
Instead of seeing your salvation in animal sacrifices and works of the law, you now see your salvation in Jesus.
The moment a believer receives the Salvation of God’s goodness, he begins to demonstrate or walk in true repentance.
This is the gospel.
You demonstrate a change in direction of living. You no longer live according to your own way. You now begin to live according to God’s way.
Repentance in the New Testament is not a feeling that one is sorry for something or a confession of wrongs.
Repentance in the New Testament is a tangible transformation in thoughts and deeds through your surrender to the love of God.
In the New Testament, repentance is not a human or worldly feeling of regret, shame, or remorse. It is more than that. It is a conviction of the heart produced by God’s goodness.
It is not a focus on your weaknesses, failures, or sins. It is a submission to God’s gracious power and love.
Repentance is a state of living which germinates in your heart through the gift of Salvation.
Look away from the wrong direction and submit to the direction of God’s love.
Hallelujah!

Repentance is not necessarily the state of remorse or regret or guilt but rather true transformation which comes from the gift of salvation in our heart
I take advantage of the goodness of God towards me.
I received the ability of God to live right
Whenever the message of Jesus is preached and you believe, it means you have changed your thinking( you repent, which is the same as having a mindset shift).
It means that the transformation we want to see will only manifest when we believe in the message of Jesus being preached.
Thank you Lord Jesus!
Thank You Lord Jesus now there is clarity and the process is clear now
as the message of Christ is professed it makes men shift their minds from human efforts and religious sacrifices that do not speak any volume as compared to the eternal work Jesus did on the cross
After the shift of mind now romans 12:2 plays its row
Repentance is not a one day thing but a daily reality that we walk in
To repent is to have a mind shift.
And repentance is a tangible transformation in thoughts and deeds.
This question has been on my mind, so those who decided to get born again or use the clichéd route of accepting Jesus as their Lord and personal Savior after some fearful message of hell was preached to them, are they really born again ? Because the focus has not been Jesus. Or God just looks at genuineness of heart.
Thank you Jesus
I take advantage of God’s goodness towards me.
Thank you, God, for your goodness
Thank you, Lord Jesus
Jesus truly preached Himself and to the Jews, He asked for repentance, because they needed to change their mind about self-efforts, animal sacrifices and dead works to serve the living God.
Repentance occurs when a man makes up His mind to believe in Jesus. He realized that Jesus is truly the only way. However, after the man’s repentance, He now submits to Word and the word transforms Him, that is when a man has repented. To repent is how the word has forged a man’s life, not just His mentality but how that mind-shift translates into a glorious life.
Salvation is first not a character modification activity, people dont become morally excellent when they get born again because the mindset has not been changed but as the believer grows through the word, the change in mind soon reflects in His action and speech.
Thank you, Jesus.
Glory to God
