BREAK FREE FROM LOW SELF-REGARD AND INSECURITIES 2 — BREAK FREE FROM ALL LIMITATIONS 4
“For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].”
1 John 5:4 (Amplified Bible)
Low self-esteem or self-regard and insecurities have limited people from walking into the fulfilment of their purpose.
As I mentioned previously, faith is your way out of that limitation. Remember, faith operates by the revelational light of the Word of God.
While talking about the “heroes of faith”, the author of the book of Hebrews mentioned Gideon.
“How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets.” Hebrews 11:32 (NLT)
To have Gideon’s name among “heroes of faith” is an evidence that you are only celebrated and remembered for your victory and not your limitations.
No one will celebrate your insecurities and low self-regard.
No one will remember you for feeling worthless.
Without God’s intervention, Gideon would have remained subjugated by his mental limitations. And Israel wouldn’t have experienced him as a great leader and deliverer.
Until you stop the self-pity party, destinies are going to be destroyed.
Awakening from the “worthlessness” feelings will make you a blessing to many.
Gideon did struggle with an inferiority complex.
He defined himself by his family status. He struggled with insecurity, self-doubt, and worthlessness.
When God came to him, He referred to him as “…a mighty man of valor”.
His trauma, self-doubt, low self-regard and the fear of the Midianites made him question even the thought that God was with the Israelites.
Gideon also doubted that he was a mighty man.
While the Lord saw him as a mighty man valor, a man of great strength to save or deliver Israel, he saw himself as insignificant.
“But Gideon said to Him, “Please Lord, how am I to rescue Israel? Behold, my family is the least [significant] in Manasseh, and I am the youngest (smallest) in my father’s house.” Judges 6:15 (Amplified Bible)
This Gideon, who disregarded himself, felt to be the weakest among the weak (considering his family background), irrelevant, insignificant and worthless to lead Israel, became a hero of faith. Even his faith became a testimony for those of the New Testament (and generations yet unborn).
Gideon would have remained worthless if he had not yielded to the word of the Lord.
It is not how you feel about yourself, it is what God says about you.
The word of God is the mirror of God, which brings you to the knowledge of your true self.
Gideon was able to break free from his insecurities and low self-regard because of the revelational light of God.
Don’t think you are the first to have self-doubt. You have seen Abraham and Sarah, and also Gideon. Even Jeremiah the Prophet had insecurities.
Here is his personal testimony:
“Ah, Lord GOD,” I said, “I surely do not know how to speak, for I am only a child!” But the LORD told me: “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ For to everyone I send you, you must go, and all that I command you, you must speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.…” Jeremiah 1:6-8 (Berean Study Bible)
Moses doubted his eloquence to speak before Pharaoh. He disregarded himself because he was slow of speech and tongue. (Exodus 4:10-12). Later, when he submitted his thoughts to the word of the Lord, he led Israel out of captivity.
Many lives will not be impacted or transformed when you keep doubting yourself and what God has called you to do.
No matter the insecurities, the doubts and the weakness you feel, this is what the Lord is saying to you: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Hallelujah!

If men like Gideon, Abraham, Sarah were able to walk out of limitations held by their background and Mindset to become heroes of faith, we have no excuse. It’s time we see ourselves as God sees us to take giant steps for the Lord.
