WHAT ARE YOU BOILING FOR?

“For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.” 

Psalm 69:9 (KJV)

How far do you want to see the work of God prosper?

The fulfilment of God’s vision is not by how you wish to see it happen but by how you are determined to see its accomplishment.

Most people think of zeal as a religious posture. However, the great visions of God are not realised without zeal.

Some think zeal is not needed. They conclude that zeal does not bring salvation. Salvation is in believing and receiving Jesus. Thus, one can have zeal and not be saved.

Nevertheless, everyone saved in Christ needs the zeal of God to execute divine assignments.

The Lord performs His plans according to His zeal.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace, there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7 (KJV)

Zeal basically means a strong burning passion. It is the agreed energy of the emotions, the will and the mind to accomplish a task.

 In Greek, zeal is derived from the word “zelos”, which means to be zealous. This means to have an “ardour or fervour of spirit.” It is an energy and enthusiasm about one’s conviction.

It is the same word for fervency. The word fervent is from the Latin word “fervens”, which means to BOIL.

This was the difference between Paul, the apostle, and some other believers. A man with a strong zeal will accomplish more than one who is lagging.

No wonder he said to the brethren in Rome:

“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord” Romans 12:11 (ESV)

Read it in The Passion Translation:

“Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward Him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let Him fill you with excitement as you serve Him”.

 To have the zeal or to be fervent is to be quickened with a burning passion or to boil for something.

What are you boiling for?

Don’t be boiling for fornication.
Don’t be boiling to steal that jewel which doesn’t belong to you.
Don’t be boiling for the nude video.

Channel that passion or strong desire towards the LORD’S WORK.

Have that burning desire to please the Lord. Channel your passionate ardour towards the pursuit of the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

Beloved, to have zeal is to have an eagerness or desire to accomplish or obtain something.

Don’t use that zeal to please your selfish interest. Use it to accomplish that task which brings glory to God.

What are you burning for?
What has consumed your boiling desire?

When you make Jesus and His Kingdom the focus of your boiling desire, you will do extraordinary things for the Lord.

You may not be doing great things for the Lord because your boiling desire is not towards the Lord.
