BE HELPFUL 2

“Abandon every display of selfishness. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests”

Philippians 2:4 (TPT)

The Newness of life is not a self-centred life. It is love-dispensing and life-giving.

The world places emphasis on  self-care and self-love. The explanation of these concepts may seem highly reasonable, but that is not the Kingdom’s way.

Jesus speaking to His disciples said, “The greatest among you will be the one who always serves others from the heart.” (Matthew 23:11 ~ TPT).

There is no greatness in the Kingdom without genuine service.

A genuine servant-heart is a selfless heart. No selfish person can serve genuinely. And such a person cannot consistently make a difference in the lives of others.

You cannot be helpful when you are occupied with yourself. You wouldn’t even be able to identify or perceive the need to help someone who is in need of help until you look beyond yourself.

Your relevance will always be connected to the selfless help you give to others.

 A helper is selfless!

Does that mean you don’t have needs to attend to?

You do!

And it’s the reason being a helper will not always be convenient. That is what love represents. True love is proven when there is sacrifice.

You may do good things out of convenience, but the true state of your love is proven when you have to move out of your convenience to make a sacrifice.

Understand that, to be helpful wouldn’t always be convenient. However, you will be able to help others with ease, because the love of God is at work in you.

In this dimension of love, faith finds greater expression.  

While looking beyond yourself to demonstrate love to others, you maintain strong faith in God that He will keep you from falling and supply your personal needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Maybe you are reading this and feel tired of doing good or helping others because people seem to be appreciative.

Do not let the wrongs of others redefine the goodness of God in you.

Continue doing good for others, whether they appreciate it or not.

God, who made this whole universe for the benefit of men, is not appreciated by men. People whose entire existence depends on God still conceive hatred towards God in their hearts.

This has not changed the goodness of God towards mankind. He still loves us.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NLT).

The scriptures charged us not to get tired in doing, because one may definitely get tired. Set your mind on the harvest of the Lord. There is nothing good you do which shall be in vain.

Just in case you feel tired, confused and discouraged in helping others, don’t continue listening to what you feel, turn to the Lord. Talk to the Holy Spirit, He is your ULTIMATE HELP.

Don’t feel discouraged and say “I am not God.” It’s a wrong utterance. Yes, you are not GOD, but you are the expression of God. You are the man God has chosen to work though. It’s a privilege!

Be HELPFUL AT ALL TIMES.
