THE LORD HAS NEED OF IT

“And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.” Luke 19:31 (NKJV).

There is so much to discuss this week. As I have already began to look into “Jesus’ Triumphant entry” into Jerusalem. And also the details of the passover celebration.
Luke 19:31, is also worth our attention.
There is a general thought that the Lord being self-sufficient has no needs.
However, we see here that, the Lord needed to use the donkey.
Let’s see some more details of the story:

“As he came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, he sent two disciples ahead. “Go into that village over there,” he told them. “As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’
So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said. And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?” And the disciples simply replied, “The Lord needs it.” So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on.

As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him. When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.” Luke 19:29-36
I have this question to ask you?
WHAT MORE SHOULD CHRIST SAY TO CONVINCE YOU BEFORE YOU CAN GIVE YOUR VALUABLE TREASURE?
This is one of the verses of the Bible the Holy Spirit shone in my heart to make me a giver and also to avail myself for the Lord’s use.
The promptness of the owners of the donkey amazes me.
Of course

“the earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1).

This includes the young donkey, the Lord requested.
Nevertheless, the scriptures referred to unknown owners, who didn’t hesitate to give the donkey for the Master’s use.
Though they were owners of the donkey the Master needed, they saw themselves as stewards.
This makes it easy for you to give to the Lord what you possess.
David (the King of Israel) said:
*”But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!”* 1 Chronicles 29:14 (NLT)

Whatever you have was first given to you by the Lord. Which means your giving to the Lord is an honour to the Lord.
In the days of Jesus, a donkey was one of the treasured possessions an average Jew may have. Moreover the donkey Jesus requested for had not even been used before.
Yet, the only explanation the disciples were to give to the owners was that “The Lord has need of it.”
They didn’t give the motive or reason behind the request.
The owners offered the animal without delay, no matter how precious it was to them.
It wasn’t a donkey they had used and benefited from.
It was young, new and valuable.
Learn to give God your best. It is not just about giving to the Lord, it’s how you give and the value of what you give.
Understand that whatever, Christ will ask from you shall be for the purpose of His Kingdom.
What do you have that Christ is asking for?
How difficult is it for you to give towards the Lord?
Do you see Him as the Lord of all?
See how the Passion Translation puts it:

“And if anyone stops you and asks, ‘What are you doing?’ just tell them this: ‘It is needed for the Lord of All.'” Luke 19:31 (TPT)

Beloved, the Lord will need your money, time, house, yourself and even your family (it may be your sons and daughters), for the expansion of His kingdom.
What will be your response?
The truth is, whiles reading this message, the Lord is speaking to your heart. He is making a request and telling you of what to give.
Don’t hold back, be prompt.
There are times you may feel what you have is not the best.
Cheer up…
What you have is enough. As long as the Lord has need of it, He will turn it into a treasure and a tool for His glory and kingdom advancement.
The donkey which was tied became an instrument of the Kingdom and Honour.
Jesus has always been a specialist of making the best out of the ordinary.
A little boy’s lunch in the hands of Jesus, fed more than 5000 people. (Take note: the men alone numbered 5000).
Remember how a fisherman’s boat, became an item for the kingdom advancement.
What about how Jesus trained and turned his disciples (who were fishermen and not scholars), into learned fishers of men who shook the whole world.
These men yielded themselves for to the Lord for His use.
From Luke 19, you will see how a donkey, became a Kingdom celebrity just because He became useful to the Lord.
Whatever we give unto the Lord is multiplied by the Lord with glory.
You cannot give what you have to the Lord until you have first given yourself to Him.
See what Paul the apostle said concerning the Macedonians:

“For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave voluntarily, begging us insistently for the privilege of participating in the service for [the support of] the saints [in Jerusalem]. Not only [did they give materially] as we had hoped, but first they gave themselves to the Lord and to us [as His representatives] by the will of God [disregarding their personal interests and giving as much as they possibly could].” 2 Corinthians 8:3-5 (Amplified Bible).

Beloved the LORD HAS NEED OF YOU.
DIG DEEPER
(John 6:5-13; 1 Chronicles 29:9; Luke 5:1-11; )

WE PRAY:
That the Lord will teach our hearts to honour Him with our lives and all that He has blessed us with for the advancement of the Kingdom.
