THE LORD IS YOUR SPECIAL POSSESSION

“The priests will not have any property or possession of land, for I alone am their special possession”

Ezekiel 44:28 (NLT)

Every born again in Christ has been born to Kingdom Royalty and Kingdom Priesthood.

This has always been the dream of God to bring all men into this glorious PRIESTHOOD.

When Moses went up to God, the Lord gave him words to speak to the children of Israel. Part of it was God’s intention to have a Kingdom of Priests.

“while Moses went up to God. The Lord called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.” Exodus 19:3-6 (ESV)

However, because of the enactment of another covenant at Sinai (which is the Old Covenant), for the people to become a Kingdom of Priests, they must fulfill their Covenant responsibilities.

The Priesthood mandate among the Israelites was fulfilled by the Levites. All other tribes of Israel did not become priests.

Through the obedience of Jesus, God’s intention to have a Kingdom of Priests was fulfilled. The Israelites could not obey. They stumbled at the word of the Lord.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light”
1 Peter 2:9 (ESV)

The beloved in Christ is a King and a Priest.

“And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals;
For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.
Revelation 5:9-10 (NKJV)

As priests of God, we have the mandate to function in that reality and also to enjoy all that comes with the Priesthood.

The New Testament Priest executes the priestly responsibilities in Christ. The “Old Testament” priestly responsibilities foreshadow the responsibilities of the New Testament Priest.

Just as the priests were consecrated by the anointing, the believer in Christ is also consecrated into Priesthood through Christ Jesus.

The privileges of the Levitical priests in the Old Testament were also a foreshadowing of the privileges of the New Testament priests.

Of all the glorious realities of the Priesthood, the most crucial of them was the inheritance of the Priests.

Before the children of Israel occupied the promised land, instructions were given concerning the division of the land among the tribes of Israel.

“And you shall divide the land by lot as an inheritance among your families; to the larger you shall give a larger inheritance, and to the smaller you shall give a smaller inheritance; there everyone’s inheritance shall be whatever falls to him by lot. You shall inherit according to the tribes of your fathers.” Numbers 35:54 (NKJV)

As part of the instructions, Aaron and the Levites were not given any portion of the land.

Then the LORD said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites. (Numbers 18:20)

What a beautiful privilege of Priesthood!

Because the priests were separated unto the Lord, they had the Lord as their portion.

To have the Lord as your portion or special possession is to have Him as your blessing and satisfaction.

The believer in Christ doesn’t first need material blessings as their satisfaction. The believer in Christ has the Lord as their inheritance and satisfaction. To have the Lord is to have all things because all things are His.

Beloved you are a ROYAL PRIEST, and you have the LORD AS YOUR SPECIAL POSSESSION.

Oh Hallelujah!

Thank you Lord Jesus
Because God was the possession of the levites they enjoyed every grace the other tribes enjoyed in fullness
Because every tribe had a specific blessing but Levi had the accumulation of all

That is why the Messiah didn’t only come out of the line of Judah but also had his roots in Levi else we also would have been limited to only the kingship aspect but since he had both roots we enjoy both privileges as Kings and Priests
