THIS JESUS 1
“Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.”
Acts 17:3 (KJV)
As part of the many beautiful revelations of Jesus, the knowledge of Him as CHRIST is the all-encompassing prophetic revelation and fulfilment.
The word “Christ” is not a new age thought of as a “chi” or a synonymous expression for a yogic higher force.
Christ is not a figment satisfaction of one’s personal imagination.
The word Christ is not Jesus’ surname or last name. My surname is “Ansah”, thus you can refer to me as Mr. Ansah. And that is how some consider “Christ”. They assume He is Mr. CHRIST.
Christ is not necessarily His name. Christ is His title. The proper understanding of the Christ will help you appreciate the passionate tone in Paul’s statement, “and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ”.
He made this statement as a logical conclusion of what the scriptures teach.
“Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:
And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures “ Acts 17:1-2 (KJV)
In His preaching, Paul the apostle, systematically reasoned with His audience using the scriptures to make thoughtful arguments to persuade them of the revelation of Jesus as the Christ.
This term meant and still means something profound to the Jews. Christ was one they looked forward to for many centuries. Some believe Jesus is Christ, others are still looking forward to a coming Christ.
The word Christ is a transliteration of the Greek word Christos, meaning “anointed” or “anointed one”. In Hebrew, it is the equivalent of the word Messiah or mashiach (which is from the verb mashach). So, to be the Christ or Messiah is to be “the anointed one”.
The anointing or sacred oil was poured on people specially chosen for the Lord’s assignment. These are mainly prophets, priests and kings. The phrase “anointed one” or “the Lord anointed” is mostly used for kings. (See 1 Samuel 24:6)
See these verses as well:
“He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed (mashach) him to consecrate him.” (Lev. 8:12)
“So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed (mashach) him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.” (1 Sam. 16:13)
“Also, anoint (mashach) Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint (mashach) Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet.” (1 Kings 19:16)
Though the expression “anointed” or “Mashiach” is used in several places in the Old Testament portion of the Bible, the anointed one is mainly a term for the Messiah.
The Messiah is the prophetic title given to the King who is to come, by the prophets of old.
The prophets gave revelatory hints or codes of the coming King who would deliver his people and also rule the whole world.
By prophecy, the Messiah shall shoot forth from Israel and amidst the Jewish people.
Jacob while blessing his sons, made this prophetic declaration to Judah concerning the Messiah.
“Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be“. Genesis 49:9-10 (KJV)
Balak the king of the Moabites requested that Balaam should curse the people of Israel as they pitched in the plains of Moab. One of the prophetic visions Balaam had was the revelation of the Messiah.
“How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel! As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted. God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows. He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee… He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.” Numbers 24:5-9,16-17 (KJV)
When Jesus was born His star appeared in the east and wise men went to bow to Him as the new King.
“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.“
“When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:1-2,9-11 (KJV)
In ancient times when a King arose, people of stature would go and pay homage to the new king to renew or establish a relationship with the King. Though Jesus was born as a baby, He wasn’t an ordinary child. He was the prophetic King or Messiah who was born in Bethlehem. Just as it was declared that a royal star would come out of Jacob, the Wisemen saw the royal star of Jesus and rejoiced.
Beloved the birth of Jesus was the beginning of the fulfilment of His Messianic Prophecies. This Jesus whom we preach is the Christ or the Messiah who was spoken of by the prophets and the scriptures.
To believe in Jesus is to receive the Christ.
We have not believed in empty fables but in a sure word of prophecy.
Celebrate Jesus who is the King of Kings at all times.
Hallelujah!
Jesus the Christ
The anointed one lives in me
woww….
What an episode …
CHRIST IS NOT THE SURNAME OF JESUS.
JESUS: MY MESSIAH
This Jesus who is the Christ
Micah 5:2-4
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”
Therefore Israel will be abandoned
until the time when she who is in labor bears a son,
and the rest of his brothers return
to join the Israelites.
He will stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the LORD,
in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God.
And they will live securely, for then his greatness
will reach to the ends of the earth.
Jesus is the Christ
Wow , this is the story .
I now understand, Christ is the expected king the world has been waiting for ….
ALL HAIL THE KING CHRIST JESUS THE ANOINTED ONE .
My eyes are opened to the full revelation of Jesus as the true Messiah
My my my!!
This Jesus which we preach is the Christ. The anointed one. The one who was prophesied from ages past and every single prophesy about him from Childhood to His death played out exactly as the scriptures said.
Believe on Jesus is the real deal. I am glad I believe in Jesus.
There is no single person that has been prophesied more about of whom every single word has come to pass like Jesus.
So why do we look for another when we have a high priest who is passed into the heavens, therefore I hold onto my profession for He that promised is faithful.
I am glad I know Jesus.
I have not followed an empty fable…
Jesus is the Christ!
Jesus is the King of Kings!!
Gloreeey!!!
