BE FULL OF THE WORD
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
The thoughts that run through your mind and the words you speak will always affect your living.
The kind of thoughts you entertain will shape your words, and your words will define your world.
When the adversary wants to attack your world, he exposes your mind to wrong thoughts. If he wants you to live defeated, he invades your mind with thoughts of weakness, failure, doubt, and negativity.
This is why you must become intentional with the meditation of the word of God.
You are not like a tree planted by the rivers of water simply because you are born again. It is not that automatic.
You can only be like a tree planted by the rivers of water when you make the word of God your delight and meditation (Psalm 1:1-3)
You cannot wage good warfare when you are not full of the word of God.
Imagine a soldier going to war without a sword.
How is he going to have an offensive advantage?
And the Word of God in your mouth is the Sword of the Spirit. Until you are full of the Word in all situations, you will not be sharp enough to address every opposing thought.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. (Colossians 3:16)
The greatest deceptive strategy of the adversary against you (as a believer in Christ) is to attack your thoughts by casting shadows on your mind, using the scriptures.
He cast shadows by misquoting or misrepresenting the true meaning of the word.
He mainly attacks your identity in Christ.
That was how he attacked Adam and Eve in Eden. He attacked their identity.
“Of course we may eat it,” the woman told him. “It’s only the fruit from the tree at the center of the garden that we are not to eat. God says we mustn’t eat it or even touch it, or we will die.”
“That’s a lie!” the serpent hissed. “You’ll not die! God knows very well that the instant you eat it you will become like him, for your eyes will be opened—you will be able to distinguish good from evil.” Genesis 3:3-4 (TLB)
Meanwhile, God created man in His own image and after His own likeness (Genesis 1:26).
Again, after the Father had declared these words during the baptism of Jesus, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!” (Matthew 3:17)
The devil came to tempt Jesus, saying, “ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” (Matthew 4:3)
Do you see it?
He came attacking what the voice said concerning Jesus.
The moment he used the phrase “If you are the Son of God”, he was subtly creating uncertainty in the mind of Jesus.
He now wants Jesus to think he is not yet the son of God, but will only become one by doing what he tells him to do. And if Jesus had done what the adversary was deceptively asking for, he might have lived in doubt of who He is and been ruled by the thoughts of the devil.

Beloved, do not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy.
The adversary will always attack what God says about you!
Jesus knew the devil’s devices and deployed the word of God.
“But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
Did the devil stop there?
Not at all. He kept using various means in an attempt to make Jesus act contrary to his reality. Yet, Jesus consistently addressed the situation with the word, till He finally and sternly cast the devil out using the word as a weapon. Jesus didn’t just quote the scripture; He had to use it as a weapon.
This time, Jesus didn’t just say it is written, He said:
“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’ (Matthew 4:10)
This was similar to what David did when he confronted Goliath.
Beloved, what is the challenge confronting you? Take hold of the word of God concerning that situation and use the word as a weapon to enforce your victory.
Get hold of the word, be full of the word of God, that you may be ready in all seasons; with your mouth full of the right words to be used to wage war.
Hallelujah!
