HEARING GOD’S VOICE 14 –

How Do I Hear God’s Voice? 9 — Means and Moments 3

“I will hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly”

Psalm 85:8 (NKJV)

Though God primarily speaks to every believer through His Word (the Bible), He also initiates some special means and moments to communicate His message to the believer.

Every spiritual communication one receives must be proven by God’s word.

The word of God will always prove the means or mediums, the moments and the message.

According to the revelation of the scriptures, any means or medium by which a person received a spiritual message was initiated by God. However, there are some spiritual groups or cults who don’t rely on God intitiating these communication means. Instead, they induce themselves to receive  a message through their preferred means.

Some religious groups use certain chants or conclusions to induce themselves to have out-of-body experiences or altered minds. Most of these expose their souls to demonic encounters.

The scriptures don’t suggest that believers must forcefully generate the voice of God through such means. Unless God initiates His own means to speak to you directly, any other mode to generate spiritual communication can lead to error.

If you have any desire to hear God’s voice, go to the Word of God.

As you read the scriptures God will speak to you through a verse of a chapter or character in the Bible. There are times a verse or chapter will stand out differently to you, and have the nudge to memorize. That scripture you memorize will help you in the period of meditation. And as you meditate on the word you will receive a rhema for a specific situation. That is God’s clear voice to you.

There are other times when you are confronted by a life situation, the Lord will recall a verse or passage in your heart as an answer to a question or situation. That is God’s active voice in your heart. This is why it’s important to learn to memorize scriptures.

Mostly as you study the word of God your mind is shaped with the thoughts of God’s wisdom. This shaping of mind makes you think of matters in the light of God. What then happens is, when you are confronted by a situation you will not be waiting for God to give you direction. You just know what to do because God’s wisdom will ooze out of you.

This was how Jesus answered the Pharisees and other Jewish leaders when He was asked hard questions or accused. (Example – Matthew 9:10-13, Hosea 6:6; John 10:30-35, Psalm 82:5-6).

The Apostles and early Church leaders did the same. (Acts 2:14-36, Joel 2:18-32, Psalm 16:8-11, Psalm 110:1)

So God speaks to you through:

– the scriptures as His active voice.
– the recalling of Biblical passages to you.
– the implanting of His wisdom in you to shape your mind with the scriptures.

We also discussed, how God speaks to you through the inward voice, impressions or nudging of your heart as the Voice of the Holy Spirit.

The other scriptural approved means and moments the Lord speaks to people are VISIONS AND DREAMS.

One key thing you should notice is that these means of communication are also prophetic languages. These are part of the means by which God spoke His revelation to the Prophets.

Though Christ came as God’s final means and message to us, God still speaks to His people through Visions Dreams and Trance.

I will explain the differences in these in the next episode.

God spoke to the first Apostles or church leaders through these means and moments.

Trance, Visions and Dreams are not erroneous in themselves, neither are they some New Age concepts. These are all over the scriptures. Nevertheless, you don’t build your life on Trances, Visions and Dreams.

Because evil spirits can induce such experiences.

Therefore build your life on the Word of God. And these various means and moments will be placed into the right perspective of Christ.

Selah.

Thank you Jesus!
God’s primary way of speaking to is the bible. When I memorize verses or passages in the scriptures, God uses them at various times and moments to address situations around me. I am better off knowing the bible and meditating on it, as that will help place visons, dreams and trances in their right places. The Word of God is key and principal.
