THE 5 BETTER NOTS 7

(Gleanings From the Book of Hebrews)

“It is clear that they could not enter into their inheritance because they wrapped their hearts in unbelief.”

Hebrews 3:19 (TPT)

The Gospel of Christ Is Your Inheritance; Don’t Doubt It

For the Israelites to wrap their hearts in unbelief means they had the opportunity to hear the Word of God but they did not believe and receive it.

The consequence of unbelief is to deny yourself from the rest of God. To come into rest is to receive and enjoy the inheritance in Christ.

For the Israelites, because they doubted the Word of the Lord they didn’t enter their rest. They wandered in the wilderness till they died there. Those who entered the promised land were those who believed the Word of the Lord.

“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” Hebrews 4:2 (KJV)

The Word was given to the Israelites to usher them into the promised land. But because they didn’t mix it with faith, they could not enter.

Nevertheless, the promised land was a typology of Christ (we will look more into this in another episode). The promised land wasn’t the substance but a shadow of the reality. The rest which the Lord promised them was Christ Himself.

No wonder Abraham still looked forward to a more glorious city when he got to this land that God promised him.

“Faith motivated Abraham to obey God’s call and leave the familiar to discover the territory he was destined to inherit from God. So he left with only a promise and without even knowing ahead of time where he was going, Abraham stepped out in faith. He lived by faith as an immigrant in his promised land as though it belonged to someone else. He journeyed through the land living in tents with Isaac and Jacob who were persuaded that they were also co-heirs of the same promise. His eyes of faith were set on the city with unshakable foundations, whose architect and builder is God himself. Hebrews 11:8-10 (The Passion Translation)

This City Abraham looked forward to is Christ.

For God to usher His people into the substance of the Inheritance which He promised Abraham. He has to present the complete substance of revelation which will usher His people into their full inheritance.

To enjoy the fullness of the Inheritance it will take more than a promise; it will take the full complete original Word.

This was why the Book of Hebrews had this direct introduction:

“God, having spoken to the fathers long ago in [the voices and writings of] the prophets in many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the truth], and in many ways, has in these last days spoken [with finality] to us in [the person of One who is by His character and nature] His Son [namely Jesus], whom He appointed heir and lawful owner of all things, through whom also He created the universe [that is, the universe as a space-time-matter continuum].” Hebrews 2:1-2 (Amplified Bible)

The central theme of the book of Hebrews is the Revelation of Jesus as the FINAL AND COMPLETE SUBSTANCE OF REALITY.

It is the book with the Message of The Better Things In Christ (which are far more glorious than the things of the old).

God’s full and final message is not just given through Christ; His complete and final revelation is CHRIST HIMSELF.

Christ is the Embodiment of God’s Inheritance to His people. When anyone disregards and doubts or disbelieves the message or the gospel of Christ the person has denied His Inheritance. The Gospel of Christ is the revelation of your Inheritance.

To doubt the reality of the Gospel is to your own disadvantage.

Remain firmly rooted in the Revelational-Gospel of Jesus our Lord.

Hallelujah.
