THE 5 BETTER NOTS 6
(Gleanings From the Book of Hebrews)
“It is clear that they could not enter into their inheritance because they wrapped their hearts in unbelief.”
Hebrews 3:19 (TPT)
The Consequence Of Doubting The WORD OF GOD!
As I mentioned in yesterday’s episode, warnings are cautions to keep you away from danger. You overlook such warnings at your own peril. I further explained that you must not turn away from warnings given in the scriptures. And when they are prevalent, it means the consequences may be drastic.
In Hebrews 3, as the author admonished the saints not to harden their hearts (which means not to doubt or have unbelief in their hearts), he proved the consequence of such posture with what happened to the Israelites.
God sent Moses to deliver Israel from Egypt so that they would receive their inheritance. This inheritance which was designated for them was first given to Abraham.
However, Abraham received this inheritance by faith, which means that all those who will share in it must have faith.
The Israelites who came out of Egypt didn’t take the character of Egypt out of their heart. They hardened their hearts towards the Lord; just as Pharoah hardened his heart.
Just as Pharoah witnessed the demonstrations of God’s power and yet doubted or hardened his heart, these Israelites also witnessed the power of God and still doubted Him in the wilderness.
Thus, the author of the Book of Hebrews reminded his readers not to repeat the unbelief of their fathers in the wilderness.
“There your fathers tested me and tried my patience even though they saw my miracles for forty years they still doubted me!” Hebrews 3:9 (TPT).
This caused that generation not to enter into the promised inheritance. They wandered in the wilderness, till that entire unbelieving generation died there. Their feet wandered mainly because their hearts were wandering and refused to learn the ways of the Lord.
“The same people who were delivered from bondage and brought out of Egypt by Moses, were the ones who heard and still rebelled. They grieved God for forty years by sinning in their unbelief, until they dropped dead in the desert. So God swore an oath that they would never enter into his calming place of rest all because they disobeyed him. It is clear that they could not enter into their inheritance because they wrapped their hearts in unbelief.“ Hebrews 3:16-19 (TPT).
The adversary knew the only way to stop them from entering their rest and to enjoy their inheritance was to make them doubt the Lord.
Where there is doubt there is no faith. Where there is no faith, there cannot be the enjoyment of God’s inheritance.
“For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.” Hebrews 4:13 (Holman Christian Standard Bible).
As a believer in Christ, you are an heir of God. As long as you continue to walk in faith and not give room for doubt or unbelief you will enjoy the fullness of the Inheritance you have in Christ.
Refuse to doubt the Word of His Grace for it is the legal chronicle of the bequeathed inheritance.

Heb.4.6 – So God’s rest is there for people to enter. But those who formerly heard the Good News failed to enter because they disobeyed God.
Heb.4.7 – So God set another time for entering his place of rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David a long time later in the words already quoted: “Today you must listen to his voice. Don’t harden your hearts against him.”
Heb.4.8 – This new place of rest was not the land of Canaan, where Joshua led them. If it had been, God would not have spoken later about another day of rest.
Heb.4.9 – So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.
Heb.4.10 – For all who enter into God’s rest will find rest from their labors, just as God rested after creating the world.
Heb.4.11 – Let us do our best to enter that place of rest. For anyone who disobeys God, as the people of Israel did, will fall.
I Enjoy The Perfect Rest of The Lord!!…
