STRENGTHEN YOURSELF IN THE LORD 3
“And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”
1 Samuel 30:6 (English Standard Version)
No matter the distress you find yourself in, understand God has not withdrawn His help from you.
As we have previously seen how to respond to challenges and what it really means to be strengthened in the Lord, we will go on today to look at the practical things to do to be strengthened.
There are a lot of virtues to glean from the scriptures, concerning the relationship David and other men of faith had with God.
Mostly when people are looking for “How factors”, they think about some strange list of things. Meanwhile, the secrets of the Lord are the basic things He has written in the word.
These things may be things you keep hearing or reading each day, but they are the rich items which make things happen.
No matter how simple or basic these things you keep hearing, you must practice them before seeing the difference they make.
In Psalm 18, you will find David’s cogitations on how the Lord delivered him from his enemies and the challenges he faced. As part of the things David addressed in this Psalm, he pointed out that the Lord gave him victory against those who plundered his camp at Ziklag.
There is always a way out of trouble or any form of distress. As long as David had not strengthened himself in the Lord, he was going to remain in his distress.
No matter the situation you find yourself in, be determined to act out the word of God.
David said, “In my distress, I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry before him came into his ears.” Psalm 18:6 (ESV)
To cry to the Lord is to be conscious of the Lord’s ability.
Is He your helper?
Do you have that conviction in your heart that He can help you and will surely help you?
Here is what David had to say in the earlier verses of Psalm 18:
“The Lord is my fort where I can enter and be safe; no one can follow me in and slay me. He is a rugged mountain where I hide; he is my Savior, a rock where none can reach me, and a tower of safety. He is my shield. He is like the strong horn of a mighty fighting bull. All I need to do is cry to him—oh, praise the Lord—and I am saved from all my enemies!” Psalm 18:2-3 (TLB)
If a man has this conviction about God which battle will he lose?
“For you have armed me with strong armor for the battle. My enemies quail before me and fall defeated at my feet” Psalm 18:39 (TLB)
“You gave me victory in every battle…” Psalm 18:43 (TLB).
There is no way you can have this confidence in God and fail as you follow His leadings.
Your conviction and confidence in God amidst your moments of distress must be intentional.
Because one may see and know God’s power and yet turn away from him.
David was one of those who exceptionally trusted and obeyed the Lord.
Look at the Israelites for instance, they had seen God’s power when He invaded Egypt, they saw how He split the Red Sea open. He opened the rock, and water gushed out, and it ran in the dry places like a river. The people asked, and He brought quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
He showed them the great power of preservation and provision.
Yet, when Moses returned from his meeting with the Lord, he met them worshipping a golden calf. (Exodus 32:1-8).
Sadly they even proclaimed among themselves:
“…These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.” Exodus 32:8 (NIV)
They quickly turned away from the LORD God and denied how He saved them. They even acknowledged another god.
They even used the same silver and gold the Lord favored them to receive from the Egyptians to make those idols.
“He also brought them out with silver and gold,
And there was none feeble among His tribes.” Psalm 105:37 (See also Exodus 3:21-22; 12:35-36)
This means one wouldn’t automatically, walk in the conviction and confidence of God, just because they have seen God’s power.
You must be intentional about who God is to you and you will easily turn to Him for help.
Beloved, strengthen or fortify yourself in the Lord.
Selah.

Oh Jesus !!
I have a prevailing mentality..
I don’t lose strength..
I am heavenly backed..
Glorrrreeeeeyyyyyy!!
Oh thank you Lord Jesus for enabling me with strength in my inner man.
This statement is very factual that one can see God’s glorious splendor and yet not trust in him…
No matter the situation I find myself in, I act on the word
In the midst of the storm,
I can’t be moved
I can’t be shaken
“The Lord is my fort where I can enter and be safe; no one can follow me in and slay me.
I am in the Lord….
Thank you Jesus
I am strengthened by God in my inner man at all times
My Lord is my Helper.
I am intentional about acting out my confidence in the Lord
My God is a rock for me !
To cry to the Lord is to be conscious of the Lord’s ability.
which means if a man doesn’t cry unto God for help in time of need he renders God as powerless
Even if God shows his power it takes an intentional step and the consciousness that he is able
I am enabled with strength in my inner man
My strength is in the Lord
I depend on God for my strength
I have the strength to surmount every challenge
I don’t loose strength
Thank you Lord Jesus for giving me your strength
Machaira with Apostle Bennie will always be a blessing
