STEWARDS OF GOD’S RESOURCES 7
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
1 Corinthians 4:2 (KJV)
How you take care of things and utilize these things for the purpose of God explains the concept of God’s Stewardship.
All the things God made during creation and all that He achieved through Christ’s death and resurrection are to serve His Kingdom mission.
God’s intention is that His Kingdom glory will saturate this physical world. He made this physical world to be an extension of His Kingdom.
God established the Church through Christ to satisfy the need for an administrative, operative and legislative system to ensure His resources are properly used for the mission of His Kingdom.
All the saints (or believers) in Christ are members of the Church (1 Cor. 12:13). Thus, all the saints are to be involved in God’s administrative, legislative and operative system here on Earth.
As saints in Christ, we are not only brought into Christ to have fellowship with the Father (1 John 1:3); we are brought into Christ to be part of the execution of God’s Kingdom assignment (Ephesians 2:10).
We are not using our own resources to accomplish or execute God’s vision and mission. We are to faithfully manage God’s resources for the purposes of His vision and mission.
Everything within the universe is an investment of God. And they will all find meaning when they are used to serve God’s Kingdom mission and to express His glory.
God owns it all and has graciously made you a steward.
One may ask, “I don’t have access to all the resources of God, so how do I use them to serve His purpose?”
Now, you are also a creation and a product of God’s work. It is not just the precious stones, metals and common minerals which are God’s resources. All the people created by God including the new creation (or born again) in Christ are also God’s investments.
The new creation in Christ is bought with a price. It took God’s priceless precious blood to make salvation available. (1 Corinthians 6:19). As I have addressed in another episode, Salvation is free but not cheap!
Therefore, you don’t need to have access to all the resources of God on Earth before you become a faithful steward. You don’t need to become the richest man on Earth to be a faithful steward.
Whatever you have access to, no matter how little, is enough for you to prove your faithfulness as a steward.
That is how God measures your stewardship:
“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.” Luke 16:10 (ESV)
Instead of praying to God for more resources in order for you to prove how faithful you can be as a steward, be faithful with “the little” in your hand and God will trust you with more.
The most important investment of God is not silver and gold.
The most important investment of God is man. This was why God gave Himself for the Salvation of man (1 John 3:16).
Your stewardship begins first with how you manage yourself and the salvation which you have received in Christ.
Even though God made you, He has made you custodians of your life and how you live. He has given you the power of choice, which is the mind, the will and the emotions to determine how you want to live.
How do you manage your mind and thoughts?
How do you guard your heart?
How do you manage your emotions?
How do you manage your spirituality?
How do you manage your body?
Do you pay attention to your life choices?
Do you do things which satisfy you or do you do things which bring glory to God?
Just as Jesus gave an account of how He managed the disciples God gave Him (John 17:6-10), you are also going to make an account of how you manage yourself.
“So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 14:16 (NKJV)
When you stand before God to make an account of your life, can you boldly say you have faithfully served the Lord with all your with all your heart and with all your soul [your choices, your thoughts, your whole being]?
Beloved as a faithful steward, live each day in all His ways to love Him, and to serve the LORD your God.
