STEWARDS OF GOD’S RESOURCES 1

“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him.”

Psalm 24:1 (NLT)

To think the earth exists without a creator is not the wisest thing to do. A careful or forensic observation of the universe leads us to the work of a creative being.

The first verse of the Bible reveals God as the Creator.

“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 (KJV)

From the revelation of the scriptures, we see that the universe did not just happen.

As part of creating the universe, God formed the Earth to be the habitation of man.

“For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (He is God!), who formed the earth and made it (He established it; He did not create it empty, He formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the LORD, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:18 (ESV)

When God made the universe, He deposited rich resources into it. Because God had a glorious plan for man, He didn’t place man in an empty space. God looked at man, all that He wanted to accomplish with him, all that He will ever need to live to fulfill His purpose, and then He invested all the resources man will ever need into the Earth.

God’s investment into the Earth and man was to help man achieve God’s Kingdom mission in the physical sphere.

The resources of the Lord are for Him. God doesn’t invest for nothing, though His lovingkindness is unconditional. All that God made was for His purpose or Will.

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11 (ESV)

All the raw materials, minerals, such as; precious stones, metals and common minerals (such as salt, sulfur and water), the seas, lands, forests, mountains and animals were made by God according to His Will.
As these things belong to God, they are to serve His purpose.

God as the source of all creation and King, made man a spiritual and intelligent creature (with a physical body) who can relate with Him. He blessed man with the capacity to utilize all the created things to serve the purpose of His Kingdom.

God’s design for man was for man to serve Him.

The physical world was not made by God just for funfair. God’s mission was to saturate the physical sphere with Himself and the dominion of His Kingdom. And to accomplish that mandate He made man.

And God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28 (NASB)

The dominion which God gave man was for man to harness God’s creation on Earth and to use all of God’s resources to execute His goal.

The Lord has entrusted the Earth to man, thus, man is a steward of God’s resources.

“The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth He has given to mankind.” (Psalm 115:16)

As stewards, we must be faithful and committed to ensure that we don’t use God’s resources only for our interests but to accomplish God’s Kingdom purpose.

Be a faithful Steward.

Shalom!

Glory to God

God made everything for man so that man would use it for the establishment of His purpose on earth.

The resources of God to us is not for our personal interest.

We must therefore exercise stewardship over them.

1Pet.4.11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (NKJV)

The earth was not formed in vain. Man was the main idea behind the formation of the earth, in order to fulfil God’s eternal purposes.

As long as a man is on earth, his goal must be to utilise the investment of God to fulfil God’s purpose
