PRAYING…ALL PRAYERS 5 — SUPPLICATION 3
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”
Ephesians 6:18 (KJV)
The need for prayer in our spiritual warfare cannot be overemphasized.
How do you enforce your victory in Christ without staying in touch with your command source?
And as you pray, you must deploy the various kinds of prayer, to achieve the needed results.
The Lord has given us various kinds of prayer, to serve as strategic codes for unique results. We pray all prayer in the Spirit. The Spirit of God is the evidence of the Lord’s presence.
As a new creation in Christ, we are of the Spirit, in the Spirit and with the Spirit. Thus, whatever we do must be done in Spirit.
Prayer of supplication is not exempted. It must be done with humility of heart and in the Spirit of Christ.
Prayer of supplication must be done with humility of heart because it is a specific formal request made to a higher power and authority.
And must be done in Spirit because that is our domain of operation.
To make supplication you must know exactly what you want and be intentional about what you say in accordance with God’s word.
Your request must be consistent with the wisdom and counsel of God. That is how you find yourself praying according to His will.
Just because it’s a prayer of request doesn’t mean you ask anything without confirming how to make that request.
There are people who make supplication, wrongly. Though we ought to pray, we must pray right when we want to have the right results.
“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss…” James 4:3 (NKJV)
People sometimes get tired of praying because they often don’t get the answers.
There are a few factors that make it seem some prayers are unanswered. (We will later have a detailed discussion on, why it seems prayers are not answered, since God is a prayer answering God.)
When you want to make supplication, it is important to keep in mind the good news of the gospel.
Consider:
* how does the cross (as in the death of Jesus) affect your situation?
* the difference that the resurrection of Jesus has made and its impact on your challenge.
* whether the Lord has already given you what you are going to ask in your prayer of supplication.
There are people who spend days and months making requests for things the Lord has already achieved for or given to them.
Beloved in Christ, why must you go on a mountain to fast and pray to receive eternal salvation, while you are eternally saved?
Why spend hours praying that the Lord should make you righteous? Have you not read 2 Corinthians 5:21?
Imagine a born again praying to become a son of God; while, the scriptures are clear, “Now are we the sons of God…” (1 John 3:2).
When you have the right revelation of the word, your prayers will mostly be full of thanksgiving and praise.
Even your prayer of supplication will be saturated with thanksgiving.
No matter what you are facing, find out what God has done and said despite that situation.
You don’t have to be sentimental and pressured by the situation. Always take a stand in the word of God as you pray.
You must search the scriptures to know exactly what God has said, done or will do about that condition.
God has made provisions of answers to all your conditions; even if it concerns your finances, health, purpose, direction, marriage, childbirth, ministry, salvation of souls, national issues, persecution, etc.
As part of the adversary’s strategies, he casts shadows of doubt and deception in your mind as you pray.
You must make a strong petition with the revelation of Jesus.
“Present your case,” says the LORD. “Bring forth your strong reasons,” says the King of Jacob” Isaiah 42:21 (NKJV)
This is why you must know and fully understand the testimony of Jesus.
What Christ accomplished for you through His death and resurrection is your ultimate ticket to your answered prayers.
Don’t just make requests. Your requests or supplications and petitions must be consistent with the outcome of the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus.
Don’t pray for what the Lord has already accomplished for you.
Whatever you want the Lord to do for you, pray in the light of the revelation of Jesus and you will cause tremendous changes in your world.
Hallelujah!
– I pray with thanksgiving in the revelation of Jesus.
– When I pray I receive answers because I pray according to His will.
