THE FIERY DARTS OF THE WICKED 6 —
PUT ON THE SHIELD OF FAITH 10
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Ephesians 6:16 (KJV)
We cannot discuss the fiery darts of the enemy, without the mention of pride.
Pride is one of the strong weapons of the enemy against your faith and fulfilment of purpose.
The adversary knows that “Pride goes before destruction” (Proverbs 16:18).
Therefore to destroy any beautiful destiny, he sows and cultivates pride in the hearts of men.
A proud person is resisted and cannot increase in grace.
Pride makes a person disrespect, disdain and act arrogantly towards others. It makes one, overly esteem himself above others.
Pride makes you self-centered and unruly. You would always want things to go your way and give no attention to anyone. Pride makes you do what you feel and despise wise counsel.
Whenever you esteem your opinions above the wisdom of God’s word, know that pride has taken root in your heart. You cannot resist the devil when you are proud. To resist the devil, you must first humble yourself before the Lord.
James said, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).
As we discussed concerning David yesterday, he didn’t confront Goliath in the might of the flesh or his strength and intelligence but in the name of the Lord.
Pride will not make you submit your mind, thoughts, and emotions to the Lord.
The adversary was the first in God’s universe to demonstrate pride. He began to exalt himself above the Lord. That was the cause of his fall.
God has exalted His word, so when you begin to esteem your opinions above the word of God, you are already on the path of the devil. The end will surely be destruction.
“for the day is coming when your proud looks will be brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted. On that day the Lord Almighty will move against the proud and haughty and bring them to the dust. All the tall cedars of Lebanon and all the mighty oaks of Bashan shall bend low, and all the high mountains and hills, and every high tower and wall, and all the proud ocean ships and trim harbor craft—all shall be crushed before the Lord that day. All the glory of mankind will bow low; the pride of men will lie in the dust, and the Lord alone will be exalted.” Isaiah 2:11-17 (TLB)
The adversary sets you up for failure and disgrace through pride. Intentionally deal with pride.
True faith towards God is humble. It takes humility to look away from your challenges and to exercise confidence in what God has said.
“God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1Peter 5:5-7)
It will take the attitude of humility to take up the shield of faith. Don’t trust in your intelligence above the knowledge of God’s word.
Don’t be big-headed, be humble at all times.
SHIELD UP IN FAITH!
– By the help of the Holy Spirit, I walk in humble at all times in all things.
Oh thank you Lord Jesus!
If the adversary fell by pride, then no man can rise when such a man is full of pride. In Chronicles 7:14, God told the Israelites that if they shall humble themselves and pray then He (God) will answer them. This means pride is a blockade to answered Prayers. No wonder God resists men who are proud.
I love how the BBE says it in Luke 14:11, “For every man who gives himself a high place will be put down, but he who takes a low place will be lifted up.”
I don’t exalt myself above others.
In love I esteem others
I allow the Holy Spirit to help me walk in humility always.
Hallelujah!!
Indeed pride has been a dart of the enemy from the beginning and todays Machaira has enlightened and taught me that i cannot quench the fiery darts of the wicked in pride but humility is my great weapon because true faith is in humility. I put on my armour of humility today.
As usual another Spirit filled and insightful write up (Machaira with Apostle Bennie).
It is humbling to know that looking away from the word of God to your challenges is pride. I never thought of it that way.
This really means the adversary’s plan is not only to bring challenges my way but to keep me focusing on them thereby magnifying it above the word which is the actual armor so that in so doing I will not be able to resist the adversary.
I decide to stay humble by looking on to the Word and not the challenges that come my way.
Glory to God
Thank you Lord Jesus
I don’t allow pride in my life
I’m directed by the word of God
I humble myself to the word of God
I sit at the feet of God always.I submit myself wholly to God.
There’s no place for pride in me.In Jesus name!
Glory to God
To add up pride goes before a fall,( proverb 16:18) and the adversary story serves as reminder to stay humble and submit to God’s will.
Hallelujah!
Wow…
Apostle Paul said, “I am what I am by the grace of God,…and by this grace I have labored more than they all”.
It takes grace to do the unimaginable.
And to contact or to increase in grace one must humble himself under the finger of God, which is to exercise confidence in whatever God has said. This is how we take up the shield of faith against pride, a fierce arrow of the adversary.
Until we determine to humble ourselves under the finger of God, which is to exercise our confidence in whatever God has said, we cannot do exploits. For God resist the proud but giveth grace to the humble.
I don’t give room for pride in my heart.
I humble myself in all things by the help of the Holy Spirit..
Thank you Lord Jesus
I don’t trust in my intelligence above the knowledge of God’s word.
Thank you Lord Jesus for opening my eyes to see that, in the journey of greatness and fulfilling God’s dreams, pride can never be a bypass! I make changes with God’s word immediately
By the help of the spirit of God, I walk consciously in humility
This is very true. The bible shows us how Saul the king was rejected due to pride. I believe if Saul had humbled himself to heed the instructions of God through the Prophet Samuel, he wouldn’t have ended up the way he did.
This message is very crucial as every child of God needs the direction of God out of the path of pride
Glory to God!
Humility at all times!!! I enjoy the help of the Holy Spirit to consciously walk in the humility of heart at all times and in all things.
My will, emotions, thoughts and body are submitted to your counsel Lord
True faith towards God is humble.
Thank you Lord JESUS!!
In the name of Jesus
I refuse to be proud!
I humbly walk in the knowledge of God’s word at all times
Glory to God.
This has really been an eye opener.
Apostle made mention of the fact that a proud person will always want things to go his way and gives no attention to anyone. Wow!
This has really caused me to ask myself a lot of questions.
When proud;
How would you be able to carry out the Lords instructions effectively?
How would you become an effective team player?
How would you even receive from meetings?
How are you going to become a blessing to the body of Christ?
This episode answers these questions and more for me.
A proud person is already out of sync with what God is doing and comes as no surprise that he is resisted.
The Lord doesn’t waste his resources and a proud person will most definitely do that.
I humble myself under the mighty hand of God.
Thank you Apostle
Don’t think the word of God cannot solve issues
If you think the word cannot satisfy that particular issue then you are mistaken
There is no segregation when it comes to the word
It solves everything
What is your care ,what is the issue go to the word
There is no fast solution anywhere the end is distraction
Thank you Jesus, i walk in humbleness at all times
I submit my will, emotions, thoughts and body to the Lord.
The word of God directs my life.
It is my life line
I refuse to be proud
Any form of pride dies off me
I am humble
I refuse to be set up for failure and disgrace because of pride
I don’t exalt myself above others
