THE FIERY DARTS OF THE WICKED 3

— PUT ON THE SHIELD OF FAITH 8

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Ephesians 6:16 (KJV)

There are things and situations the adversary uses as means for his demonic projectiles.

For example, a person maltreats you and cruelly relates with you. He or she oppresses you and tortures you mentally, emotionally and even spiritually. This makes you vow that you will never forgive him or her. It even makes you bitter because of the pain you feel and sometimes wish he or she should suffer the same or worse throes.

At this point, you should know the adversary has invaded your emotions with his fiery venom.

When you come to the point where you strongly crave the destruction of other lives irrespective of their crime and offence, you should know you have become a guest on the table of the devil.

The adversary takes delight in your pain, offences, bitterness, and anger.

When someone hurts you, you may hold a grudge but deal with the situation quickly. It may grow into bitterness, and bitterness is a poison.

Bitterness doesn’t only affect those who hurt you. Bitterness first destroys you and those around you.

“Another dies in bitterness of soul, never having enjoyed anything good.” (Job 21:25)

Bitterness gives you a reason to attack God.

One can be so bitter and even blame God, saying, “If God loves me so much, why did He watch me become a victim or go through that situation? Why didn’t He protect me?”

When you ask such questions, the devil dances to his “bingo” tune.

I am not asking you to just blame the devil for your pain. All I want you to know is, the devil will take advantage or exploit the situation to collapse your defenses and fully crush you. Don’t be like Job, who became bitter towards God (Job 10:1,3)

Fight bitterness with the word of God.

Don’t give place to bitterness.

Sometimes when the adversary wants bitterness to thrive, he isolates you from the Church and your relationship with the Lord.

Let me tell you:

Don’t allow anything or anyone who did not die for you on the cross, to separate you from the Lord who died for you.

Don’t allow the evil, people do to you to change you!

This world is an evil world, the only refuge is the Lord Jesus.

 Some people become the means and instruments for which the devil uses to creep into the Church to attack the faith of innocent ones. Don’t allow such to win in the Church.

Stand your ground together with the faithful saints and let truth prevail over evil.

SHIELD UP!

Give no place to bitterness.

Don’t be quickly or easily provoked or angered. Anger is in the bosom of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:9), and you are not one of them.

Don’t brood or continuously meditate on your pain; it will rather fuel it. Don’t keep talking to yourself or others about the pain. Remember, “repetition is the law of deep and lasting impression”.

See the Wisdom here: “Whoever covers an offence seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends.” (Proverbs 17:9)

Talk about the solutions, talk and focus on the Love of God towards you.

“Stop being bitter and angry and mad at others. Don’t yell at one another or curse each other or ever be rude. Instead, be kind and merciful, and forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ” Ephesians 4:31-32 (Contemporary English Version)

Rehearse the virtue of being gracious to others!

This is how you SHIELD UP against the blazing arrow of bitterness.
