The Complete Armor Of God 11
“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness“
Ephesians 6:14 (KJV)
To put on the breastplate of righteousness is to put on the Lord Jesus who is your righteousness.
Previously we saw how the Lord sustained Himself by His own righteousness. However, you cannot sustain yourself against the arrow of condemnation of the adversary with your self-righteousness.
If many had been taught this, they wouldn’t have committed suicide.
Many have given up the call of God upon their lives because they think they are not worthy or righteous.
They judged themselves by their weaknesses and mistakes. They also couldn’t stand the legalistic fingers pointing at them.
When you know you are sustained by the righteousness of Jesus and not by your self-righteousness, you will rise to set the record straight, live above condemnation and not become a slave to any addiction.
No matter the awareness you have of Christ’s righteousness in you, when you remain a slave to sin, then you are not conscious of the righteousness of God in you.
You have to live conscious of Christ as your righteousness. That is how you put on the breastplate of righteousness.
The breastplate of righteousness is dependent on the obedience of Christ not your deeds.
No man’s works or deeds will make him or her righteous.
“We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind” Isaiah 64:6 (NLT)
The righteous deeds of man without Christ’s righteousness are as filthy rags or polluted garments. It is not reliable and dependent enough for the attacks of the adversary.
The righteousness which you have in Christ is a gift.
“For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17 (ESV)
As I previously mentioned, when you received the Lord unto salvation, you didn’t only receive Him as life. You also received Him as your righteousness. Your righteousness is no longer your deeds. Your righteousness is a person and He is Jesus.
“You are partners with Christ Jesus because of God. Jesus has become our wisdom sent from God, our righteousness, our holiness, and our ransom from sin.” 1 Corinthians 1:30 (God’s Word Translation)
The Lord Himself has been given to you who believe in Him as your righteousness.
This is the fulfilment of the prophetic word:
“And this will be his name: ‘The LORD Is Our Righteousness.’ In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety” Jeremiah 23:6 (NLT)
This is not according to your works, this is the Lord giving Himself to you as a gift.
Until you see your righteousness as a gift because you’ve received Christ, you will be depending on your self-efforts.
If your works and self-efforts are the determinant of your righteousness, then they are counted as debt. (Romans 4:4).
You don’t live right to become righteous; you live right because you have been made the righteousness of God in Christ.
This consciousness is your breastplate!

My righteousness is a gift and this this gift is Christ Jesus himself. Am conscious about this very thing which is the breastplate of my righteousness
I’m the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ. Glory to God
I don’t depend on my self efforts
I don’t live right to become righteous, I have been made the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ
I have no sense of guilt and condemnation, I am justified.

I refuse to be like the man who boasted before God in his own righteousness condemning the tax collector but rather, I submit to the righteousness of God without my self effort
