The Complete Armor Of God 4
“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,and having on the breastplate of righteousness”
Ephesians 6:14 (KJV)
Paul the Apostle wasn’t the first to use a military equipment to describe how we are to gear up for spiritual warfare.
The Prophet Isaiah gave a prophetic word concerning our Lord Jesus, the Kingdom Army Commander in Chief:
“For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, And was clad with zeal as a cloak.” Isaiah 59:17 (NKJV)
This reveals the consistency of the concept that the things which the Lord has supplied to us are spiritual gears we must uphold for spiritual warfare.
This is not surprising that the adversary attacks your conviction of the truth in Christ; your understanding of righteousness and salvation.
He knows they are equipment which protects you from his attacks.
Put on the Belt of Truth.
A Roman soldier’s loins is girt about with a belt called “Cingulum millitaire”. This belt is an essential gear in a Roman soldier’s outfit, as we looked at it in previous post.
Without the belt, a Roman soldier may not be balanced in strength.
The belt of Truth is the foundational or essential armor for a Roman Soldier.
As I mentioned previously, the Belt of Truth depicts how the Truth of Christ is the anchor on which your thoughts and imaginations are held.
Let’s take another look at the function of a soldier’s belt:
Most ancient battles were fought in close combat. It was mainly hand- to- hand, therefore, the usual draped loose Roman tunic worn by a soldier will endanger him during a fight.
In these ancient times, men wore tunics or skirts that came down to the knees, or even to their ankles. For their readiness, swiftness and flexibility, they roll up the skirt or the tunic, set it up and tucked it into the belt.
Which means the belt doesn’t only give support to the body due to the weight of the breastplate. It also helps the soldier to be ready for battle.
When God was preparing the Israelites to leave Egypt, He instructed them to gird their loins. (Exodus 12:11)
The Israelites ate with their loose outfits tucked up into their belts.
Apostle Peter in his first epistle also admonished that we gird up the loins of our minds for action (1 Peter 1:13).
To gird up your loins is a symbol of readiness for action.
You are prepared and made ready for action by the revelation of Jesus. The truth of Christ gets you ready to live the divine life of God.
Anyone who is not fully established in Truth will be tossed by every wind of doctrine. Such a person lacks the readiness of mind to function according to divine purpose.
Get rooted and established in Truth (which is the revelation of Jesus).

The belt is where Roman soldiers stored their weapon – without a belt, they could not carry a weapon! So, Putting on the belt of truth gives you access to the other weapons of our warfare .
God’s Word is truth, and it serves as our foundation.My life is guided by the truth of God which is the word of God.
I have perfect understanding of God’s word. Glory to God
As I get rooted and established in the revelation of Jesus which is the truth , I am equipped unto perfection to function in the divine life and purpose. I grow in understanding of the person and revelation of Jesus. Thank you Sir.
The truth of Christ gets me ready to live the divine life of God.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
With meekness of heart, I receive the revelation of Jesus.
My life is guided by the truth of God which is the word of God.
I maintain my balance by the belt of truth.

I stay by the truth of Christ Jesus and make sure that any doctrine or thought inconsistent with the knowledge of Christ is cast down and made to obey Jesus
