THE TREE OF LIFE IN CHRIST
“Jesus told him, “I am the Way—yes, and the Truth and the Life. No one can get to the Father except by means of me.”
John 14:6 (TLB)
Today’s opening verse is a package of glorious news to mankind and the saints in Christ.
It doesn’t just answer the question of Jesus’ divinity, as in Jesus being God; it also reveals the answer to man’s greatest challenge!
When you see Jesus you have seen the Father, for He is one with the Father.
Beloved Jesus is not a god, He is God.
Jesus is not just showing you the way to the Father, He is not some sort of signpost.
He is the means and the destination.
This is not some mere religious clichè, it is the REALITY.
You cannot access the Life of God without Jesus.
And you know this reality is not just information, it is a PERSON, and He is Jesus.
Why the need for all mankind to be excited?
After the fall of man, God moved Adam from the Garden of Eden. We see from scriptures, that when God moved man from the garden, He specifically denied man access to the Tree of Life. This is not necessarily punishment from God, but His plan to preserve man.
When man committed the sin of unbelief (by rejecting God’s instruction and believing in the lies of the adversary), corruption germinated in him. (Genesis 2:15-16; Genesis 3:1-11).
Therefore for man to partake of the tree of life means, the corruption problem of man may be forever. The only way to solve the corruption of man is through death.
“Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever”— therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life“ Genesis 3:22-24 (RSV)
Now man can only access the Tree of Life only through sacrificial death.
The Tree of Life is the symbol of GOD’S ETERNAL LIFE.
Man now doesn’t have access to LIFE. There is the flaming sword of judgement. Who is qualified to suffer the punishment of death?
There is a need for a saviour.
Beloved, Jesus came so that in Him we can have LIFE.
How?
He went through the way ahead of us, to suffer the death for mankind.
He was slain by the sword of judgement. And in His resurrection, He became the ONLY WAY TO ACCESS ETERNAL LIFE.
In the fall of man, you will find these items:
1. tree,
2. nakedness,
3. shame,
4. curse,
5. thorns,
6. sweat,
7. death and
8. sword (See Genesis 3).
Our Lord Jesus came to write a better story of our lives.
Jesus sweat greatly for us; He was crowned with thorns; He was pierced by a sword; He died a naked and shameful death on a tree and became a curse for us.
Man’s relationship with God was broken in a garden (the Garden of Eden). In a garden, Jesus announced the new beautiful relationship we have with God.
You know, He was buried in a tomb in a garden (See John 19:41-42); and in His resurrection, He said to Mary Magdalene:
“…go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” John 20:17 (KJV).
This is glorious news.
You are no more to be ashamed of God, as Adam and Eve were.
In Christ Jesus, God has been made your Father.
The way to the Tree of Life in the garden is no longer guarded by cherubims and flaming swords.
JESUS IS THE WAY!
HE IS THE TRUTH!
HE IS THE LIFE!
Now you have ACCESS to the Tree of LIFE in Christ!
“And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:11-12 (NLT)

– I share in the life and nature of God.

3. He is life. Whoever has the son has life .
4. The password to activate the life of God.
