The effect of deception is stronger when it’s from within.
In the same way, the impact of truth is stronger when it’s established within you.
“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:8-10 (NKJV)
No matter how the gospel is preached to you until you believe in your heart, you cannot be saved. The heart is the core of your being.
Whatever happens to man must first germinate in his heart.
Whatever goes on in your journey of destiny, has its root in the belief system of your heart.
This is why your heart is the target of the adversary.
To deal with deception, you must guard your heart.
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Proverbs 4:24 (NLT).
The author of Hebrews warned the saints concerning this same matter:
“Take care, brothers and sisters, that there not be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to trust and rely on the Lord, a heart] that turns away from the living God. But continually encourage one another every day, as long as it is called “Today” [and there is an opportunity], so that none of you will be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [its cleverness, delusive glamour, and sophistication].” Hebrews 3:12-13 (Amplified Bible)
The moment deception creeps into your heart, unbelief will germinate in you. You will begin to doubt the promise of God’s word. You will even turn away from the way of the Spirit to trust in the might of the flesh. This is how the adversary crushes the confidence of many saints.
And sometimes for the adversary to sow deceptive thoughts into your heart, he uses many methods to isolate you from the brethren. Or he lures you into a wrong association.
He could use offenses, bitterness or fleshy pleasures to draw you away from the saints.
When you are among the saints, your heart will be encouraged and guarded through the ministry of the word of grace. Your thoughts and passions are directed toward the Lord when you fellowship with the Word and also the saints.
You are cultivated in the truth of the word and enabled to cast down imaginations which are not consistent with the knowledge of Christ.

I strongly guard my heart against deception
I remain in the gathering of the saints so that I am not lured.

Deception comes along with unbelief.
Deception is the seed and unbelief is the fruit it produces

In the company of the brethen my heart is encouraged and guarded
My itching ears have been set to yearn for only words in line with the word of God.
I warn myself each and everyday so that I am not deceived.
There’s no room for unbelief in my heart

I put on the whole armour of God not to be shaken by all strategies of the devil and even after the battle I still remain firm.

the Word daily. Therefore, I cast down every imagination inconsistent with the knowledge of Christ. I diligently guard my heart with the Word of Grace daily. Thank you Sir.
Glory to God
The adversaries Target is our heart because he knows that’s the target of God’s Word. Hence he will do anything to withdraw us from God’s Word which is meant to give us a beautiful and victorious living.

The state of my heart determines my state. I stay in the Word

My heart is the womb of great conceptions. I guard it with all diligence. I refuse to allow toxic thoughts take root in my heart
Thank you Lord Jesus for the ministry of the word. Every vain thought is captured and subjected to the obedience of Christ.
With the shield of faith, we quench every fiery dart of the adversary.
