DEALING WITH DECEPTION 4
“bringing down reasonings, and every high thing lifted up against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of the Christ”
2 Corinthians 10:5 (Literal Standard Version)
A person’s thoughts control his or her decisions and choices; which then affects his or her pursuit of purpose.
The adversary knowing this also spreads demonic thoughts through different mediums.
You find unnecessary or godless questions arising in your heart. You then begin to brood over them and subtly they create uncertainties which grow deep in your heart to become strongholds.
There are certain questions you shouldn’t entertain in your heart.
Quickly address such questions which stir doubts and fear in your heart with the knowledge of Christ.
This is why you must pay attention to the teaching of the word of grace and commit your heart to it.
Some of the disciples of Jesus found themselves in such a position at a point.
Jesus for a period of three years taught His disciples about the need for His death and how He will be raised.
Yet when the news went forth concerning His resurrection, some of His disciples still had doubt. And Jesus was amazed at the level of their imaginations.
“And as they spake these things, he himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they beheld a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and wherefore do questionings arise in your heart?” Luke 24:36-38 (American Standard Version)
There are some questions, or imaginations or thoughts which shouldn’t arise in your heart.
There are certain thoughts which can lead you into the path of foolishness.
Can you imagine how a lady disrespected her family and got into a toxic marriage, just because for a long time she held on to the thought that Adam didn’t meet any family member of Eve before they got married?
Meanwhile, we see such orderliness in getting families or the right authorities involved in the marriage process, throughout the scriptures.
Even with Adam and Eve, God was involved (Genesis 3:12). God established an orderly system for generations to come.
Have you seen how the adversary can lead people astray?
How could a male decide to marry a fellow male?
It is by their vain imaginations to reject the knowledge of God.
“Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn’t know how to be human either—women didn’t know how to be women, men didn’t know how to be men. Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it—emptied of God and love, godless and loveless wretches.” Romans 1:26-27 (MSG)
There is the wisdom of the just (Luke 1:17). There is the established way the just should think.
This is why submitting yourself to the training of the Word of Grace is important.
One of the dangerous paths to great deception is when you decide to do things that seem right in your own eyes.
Refuse to choose your own path which is not consistent with the knowledge of Christ. Give yourself to the Word of God and to sound teachers of the Word.
The purpose of the gifted men given to the Church by Christ (in Ephesians 4:11) includes this also:
“…that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit].” Ephesians 4:14 (Amplified)
When you submit to the training of the Word and the culturing of a good teacher of the Word, you will have a stable heart in Christ and not be tossed by deceptive thoughts.
Selah.
