BE IMMERSED IN THE ZEAL OF GOD 3

“For I can testify on their behalf that they have a zeal for God, but it is not in keeping with full knowledge.”

Romans 10:2 (ISV)

We have seen the need for the zeal of God and have observed some examples of zeal in the previous episodes.

However, one of the crucial things to understand is that zeal by itself doesn’t know what is right or wrong.

To have zeal or to be fervent, is to be quickened with burning passion or to boil for something.

Everyone has a zeal for something, whether good or bad. It is up to you to understand what is attracting the investment of your zeal.

Paul the apostle, was burning with so much zeal for the Jewish traditions and aggressively persecuted the Church.
He sincerely thought he was doing the right thing for God; he later got to know he was persecuting God Himself (Acts 9:4).

He made a bold decision to destroy God’s work through the Church.

You can be ignorantly zealous. And that wouldn’t help you achieve any great results. Zeal without knowledge is chaotic.

To have zeal without knowledge is to have a misguided zeal. The right knowledge provides the right direction to zeal.

That is why you have to consistently submit to proper training. It is not just about being immersed in the zeal of God. It is intrinsically about being immersed in zeal with the right knowledge of God.

See the story of Apollos:

“Meanwhile, there was a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, who came to Ephesus. He was a cultured and eloquent man, well-versed and mighty in the Scriptures. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and burning with spiritual zeal, he spoke and taught diligently and accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he was acquainted only with the baptism of John. He began to speak freely (fearlessly and boldly) in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him with them and expounded to him the way of God more definitely and accurately.” Acts 18:24-26 (AMPC)

Apollos had received the Lord Jesus and was burning with spiritual zeal or fierce enthusiasm. He preached with so much boldness and was attempting to do more for the Lord. Yet, there was the need for the accurate knowledge of Christ and guidance.

Thank God for Priscilla and Aquila who have to help him by expounding the truth of God to him.

Don’t just be enthused about fulfiling the purpose of God, do it according to the right knowledge.

This doesn’t suggest that you don’t need zeal when you have knowledge. Until you intentionally cultivate your heart to boil with the passion or zeal of the Lord, your knowledge will not be aggressively directed into action.

However, when you receive the right knowledge of Christ, it will burn in your heart. The true revelation of Jesus will cause your heart to boil with flaming passions and zeal.

Beloved, let your zeal continue to burn into action with the right knowledge of God in Christ.

A man with zeal and the accurate Knowledge of  Christ is an unstoppable chariot.

This is why the Lord has blessed us with the scriptures and this daily treasure chest, to guide our hearts into accurate knowledge and the fulfilment of purpose.
