GROW DEEPER –

BE IMMERSED IN THE SPIRIT 8

“It was the Lord’s Day, and I was worshiping in the Spirit. Suddenly, I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet blast.” 

Revelation 1:10 (NLT)

Beloved, understand that, there are deep rich things in God. To access these things you must grow deep into God.

Have you heard the phrase, “Go deeper” while one is preaching?

They usually mean“say something strange we have not heard before.”

Interestingly, the deep things of God are the simple things in God people don’t esteem.

For example, Jesus in His earth walk, was the full revelation of God. Yet, some of the Jews just saw a carpenter’s son.

Until God opens your heart and eyes to see the riches of His wisdom in the simple things, you will see them as foolishness.

Essentially one doesn’t “go deeper” whiles preaching. Rather, you grow deeper in your relationship and communion with God.

The matter of depths is a matter of intimacy with the Spirit. It is a matter of being immersed in the Spirit. To be immersed in the Spirit is to be immersed in the revelation of His person and the richness of His wisdom.

The more you are immersed in God’s Spirit, the more you are able to see through Him.

The expression “in the Spirit” in this context is used about four times by John in the book of Revelation alone (1:10; 4:2; 17:3; 21:10). And at each time, you will realize John’s eyes were opened to see or to catch a revelation.

The realm of the Spirit is the realm of visions.

This is it, the Spirit knows all the deep things of God. (1 Corinthians 2:10). The more you commune with Him, the more He brings insight and revelations to your heart.

Jesus said, “But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, He will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak His own message, but only what He hears from the Father, and He will reveal prophetically to you what is to come.” John 16:13 (TPT)

When John said, “I was in the Spirit”, what he meant wasn’t what Jesus meant in John 4:23;

“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” John 4:23 (ESV).

In John 4:23, Jesus was addressing the New Testament worship. In the New Testament worship, the revelation is Jesus and not a Jewish location. To worship in spirit and in truth, is to worship according to the faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ and not according to Jewish customs.

Paul, the apostle, explains it clearly here:

“For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh” Philippians 3:3 (ESV).

This means, you don’t worship God by going to Mount Gerizim or the Temple of Jerusalem, but by faith in Christ Jesus.

That is the new and living way.

When you become born again, you worship the Lord by faith in Christ Jesus. The day you got born again, and came into Christ, you became a true worshipper.

Which means, every new creation in Christ worships the Father in Spirit.

And as I have also mentioned before, to be in Christ is to be in the Spirit.

The new man in Christ is already in the Spirit. Yours is to have the consciousness that you are already in the Spirit. You are there 24/7 (24hours, 7days). And you don’t come out of the  spirit, to re-enter. The spirit realm, is your realm and dwelling.

As you are in the spirit already, you can be intentional with the things of the spirit which causes you to ascend in the spirit.

The deeper you grow in the spirit, the more you ascend. There are intentional things that bring you into a higher captivated realm of the Spirit.

That was John’s experience as he wrote the book of Revelation.

John wasn’t just sitting or sleeping or lying down. There was an inward engagement or communion with the Spirit.

In moments of deep intimacy with the Spirit your heart ascends into Him.

One of the things which brings you into deep communion with the Holy Spirit is ministering to the Lord. Ministering to the Lord is a dimension of deep spiritual meditation and honor of God. It is the revere of God and His glory.

Make it a daily practice to minister unto the Lord. As you pray in the Spirit, meditate on His person according to the revelation of the Word of His Grace and sing spiritual songs to Him with your hands lifted up.

Enjoy the beauty of His presence as He overwhelms you with His light. At such moments, you will find yourself awed by His sobering ambience and you may sob with an unusual joy by His loving gaze upon your heart.

As you are reading this, just lift your hands, speak in the Spirit, meditate on the love of Christ and minister unto the Lord.
