TAKE YOUR CITY

“And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!”

Joshua 6:16 (NKJV)

As a beacon light, God wants you to saturate your world or sphere with the Gospel.

Wherever God has placed you, He wants you to cover that place with the knowledge of His glory.

There are some who think taking a city is an unnecessary ambition. How is it an unnecessary ambition when it is the will of God to saturate your sphere with the knowledge of Christ?

The issue is, are the people within your city not to be brought to the knowledge of Christ?

 The prophetic vision of God is that the whole earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters cover the sea.

Gospel Saturation is not an ambition but a prophetic destiny.

Jesus said you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. (Matthew 5:13-14)

You are designed by God to shine forth your light in the world. As you are made the light of the world, you must shine your light before men so that they may glorify your Father, who is in heaven.

Let the light of God in you shine in your city and your sphere. This is what we mean by taking your city.

They said concerning the apostles, “…These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” (Acts 17:6).

To turn the world upside down, you start from your family, your sphere, your community and then your city. As you reach out from one city to the other, you fill many more hearts with the knowledge of God’s glory.

To take a city is a warfare term. No city is taken without a fight.

The Lord said to Joshua,  He has handed over the city of Jericho into his hand. (Joshua 6:2).

Joshua didn’t just walk into the city; he had to fight to take hold of the city.

However, Joshua first took hold over the city by the spirit. The Israelites did not just possess the lands with their swords but by the mighty hand of the Lord.

The taking of a city or sphere is not by strategy of the mind. Though strategy is important, you must know that whatever happens in the physical must first happen in the spirit.

God said to Joshua, “SEE! I have given Jericho into your hands” (Joshua 6:2).

This is the first thing God helps you to do. When you see with your spirit, your hands can be laid on it! Read more here, episode 240.

The next thing, which is so important, is PRAYER.

Prayer is not necessarily making requests; it is also engaging divine resources in the spirit unto victory. Through prayer, you release your faith and deploy spiritual arsenals by which you break down strongholds.

Get this: you take cities on your KNEES! (Read more on your first strategy, is Prayer).

Look at what the Psalmist said:

“They did not conquer the land with their swords; it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory. It was your right hand and strong arm and the blinding light from your face that helped them, for you loved them” Psalm 44:3

Beloved, you don’t take a city by your sword nor merely by your strategy, but by the shining forth of God’s radiant presence.

A man of prayer is a man of faith. A man who prays demonstrates absolute confidence in God’s mighty power.

We saturate our cities by giving ourselves to prayer and intercession.
