HOW TO LIVE UNTO HIS GLORY 1
“Whether you eat or drink, live your life in a way that glorifies and honors God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 (TPT)
For some days now I have been drumming this instruction of faith into your heart (that is, if you have been consistent with the Machaira with Apostle Bennie).
As you are in Christ, it is imperative for you to live beyond your interest or satisfaction. Whatever you do must not be according to your will or desire but unto God’s glory and honor.
The question is:
How does what you do GLORIFY GOD?
As you are in Christ you must emulate Him.
Your daily life, your speech, and your conduct must bring glory to God and honor to Him, just as Jesus did.
How do you Honor or bring Glory to God?
1. SET YOUR HEART ON GOD
Whatever you do for the Lord must be inspired by your inward devotion, and accompanied by purity of heart. True honor and glory begin from within. Jesus addressing the hypocritical Jews said:
“You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;” Matthew 15:7-8 (NLT).
Don’t attempt to just honor the Lord with your lips and deep in your heart, you are far from Him. This means genuine honor to God begins with your personal relationship with God.
Until you set your heart right towards the Lord anything you do will be of the flesh and will not be reckoned as honor to the Lord.
Whatever you do must be hewn out of your love for the Lord. Your love for the Lord must be with all of your heart.
“And he said to him, Have love for the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest rule” (Matthew 22:37-38)
2. THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S COMMAND
Jesus honored and glorified God by obeying the Lord.
Through Christ Jesus, we have the ability to walk in obedience. You don’t obey God by your efforts. You walk in obedience to God’s word and command according to His ability which is in you.
God is in you to work through you unto His glory.
“For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.“ Philippians 2:13 (AMP)
This is why you must understand the will of God. The will of God is encapsulated in the scriptures. The word of God embodies His will.
To obey God is to act according to His word. This is not a difficult task; for you are born of the word in Christ (1 Peter 1:23).
Your obedience to God is also a product of God’s worth in your heart. And this demonstrates how you glorify Him.
One of the key commandments Jesus gave to every believer is in Mark 16:15:
“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone” (NLT)
This is not a suggestion, but a command from Jesus.
To obey this commandment of Jesus is to honor and glorify God. That was how Jesus demonstrated the glory of the Father. He preached and got many saved. Jesus called it the work of the Father (John 9:4).
It is the desire of God to get many saved (1 Timothy 2:4). And as you participate in this great desire of the Father, you honor and glorify Him.
Beloved, Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandment” (John 14:15). This brings glory and honor to the Father.
Shalom.
– That by the wisdom of God we shall know how to honor the Lord through our obedience to the command of the Lord to preach the gospel to many and get them saved.
In the glorious name of Jesus.
2 Timothy 3 – 4
Whatever I do, I do unto the glory and honor of God.
My heart is set on the lord unto his glory
everything i do must be unto God’s glory and honor.
whatever i do must not be hypocritical but from my heart.
until i set my heart right, everything I do will notring
For it is not my strength but it is God who works in me to will and to do
God would promote us at the right time. Your words are written on my lips
Oh gloreeeeeeeeeeeey
I set my heart on God and by the workings of God in me, I walk in Obedience to the Lord. To the praise and glory of God
[…] From the previous discussion, we looked at two things to do to HONOR THE LORD. […]
[…] 1. You honor the Lord by setting your heart on Him. […]
I preach to the Glory of God
[…] Now, because you have been made righteous by Jesus, you live right unto God’s glory. […]
