KEEP YOUR GAZE ON THE WORD OF GOD
“And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP)
There are a lot of people living the lie about themselves. Beloved, God didn’t just throw us into time without identity.
There is an identity and intention for man, specifically the man in Christ.
Christ came not only to give us the true revelation of God; He also came to unveil to us, God’s true picture about us.
There is an imagery of us in God’s mind.
We have created in our minds pictures of enmity towards God. And assume God has the same picture of us.
Most people in Christ look at themselves according to the false imagery created by religion.
Some born-agains see themselves as sinners in Christ. They sing songs of God’s unfailing love, yet think God has hatred for them.
We have seen the Word of God as a sword in the hands of a skillful soldier. We have seen it as a surgeon’s scalpel, an elixir for your health, God’s creative material, and a shining, penetrative light.
Beloved the Word of God is also the MIRROR of God.
We look into mirrors to have a view of our outlook.
Mirrors allow us to see ourselves. They show us what we look like, they let us examine our true selves, and make us espy our unique heritage. Sometimes a mirror will show you a beautiful part of yourself that you did not notice before.
Interestingly, a mirror doesn’t add nor change who we are or what we are.
A mirror brings to our realization and consciousness how we really look. This is how the MIRROR OF THE WORD OF GOD WORKS:
It reveals our true essence and quality.
Look at the opening verse again:
“And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP)
From the King James Bible, you will see the word “CHANGE” instead of transformation.
The original word in Greek is “metamorphoō” which means to be transfigured or transformed. It is a change in state and form or structure.
We can understand this transformation by observing the butterfly metamorphosis:
The butterfly’s life cycle begins with an egg and progresses to a caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult, and then finally ends with the natural transformation of the butterfly. These stages were not mere changes they were transformations.
However, the transformation or metamorphosis is a result of the inherent quality of the butterfly. At the egg stage, no one sees a butterfly, however, it has the quality of a butterfly. A hen lays an egg, however, this egg doesn’t metamorphose into a butterfly, because it doesn’t have the genetic code of a butterfly.
This is the principle I am establishing concerning the principle of the Word of God as a mirror.
The transformation you experience by the Word is a result of the seed of the Word in you at your new birth in Christ.
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.” 1 Peter 1:23 (KJV)
Do you see it?
YOU ARE BORN AGAIN BY THE WORD, which is THE SEED OF THE DIVINE LIFE.
Since you are born of the Word, you have the Word of God in you as your seed.
Therefore, as you look into the mirror of the Word, you are transformed more and more as the EXPRESSION OF THE WORD OF GOD.
How does it happen, the transformation begins with the RENEWING OF YOUR MIND.
“And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”
Romans 12:2 (AMP).
As you behold the Word of God it corrects your old thought patterns and renovates your mind with the riches of divine revelation.
