YOU ARE VALUED BY THE GOOD SHEPHERD – YOUR GRACIOUS HOST 2

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”

Psalm 23:5 (NKJV)

When the Psalmist said; “You anoint my head with oil” he was revealing the absolute graciousness of the Shepherd-Host.

In our previous discussion we understood the custom of every host anointing the head or body (feet) of their most valued guests.

To be anointed by the Lord (who is your Host) is to demonstrate how much He values you. The Lord doesn’t see you as His ordinary guest. YOU ARE SPECIAL AND VALUED.

In as much as the anointing oil was used to welcome and respect most honoured guests; it was also a medium the guest was refreshed.

The oil has another purpose in the hands of a Shepherd. It is also used to treat wounds of the sheep and to keep insects away from their heads.

The anointing oil symbolises the outpouring of the Spirit-Life within and upon the believer.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing” Isaiah 10:27 (KJV)

The LORD anoints your head with Himself, to bring healing and comfort to your wounds and pain. He protects you from the turbulance of this world by His anointing within and upon you.

To be anointed with oil was a sign to set one apart or consecrate him for a divine or sacred purpose.

By anointing a person’s head with oil, God is symbolically setting them apart, consecrating them for His divine purposes and protection.

You don’t have to cry to God for the anointing. The Lord wants you to be concious of the anointed impartation of the Holy Spirit.

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know” (1 John 2:20).

As a believer in Christ, you are anointed with the Holy Spirit.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit is an immeasurable quality of the Spirit dispensed into you. By the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon you and within you, you are set apart unto the Lord. He has chosen you to be special and consecrated for the good purpose of His will.

Your life is now a rich anointed life, separated unto the deep intimate relationship with your GRACIOUS HOST.
