ARE YOU STRUGGLING WITH DEPRESSION? 2

“Heaviness in the heart of man depresseth it: but a good word maketh it glad.”

Proverbs 12:25 (Webster’s Bible Translation)

Depression is the heaviness of a man’s heart. And yesterday I took time to mention some of the few causes of depression. These things first lead to the heaviness of the heart and then result in depression.

They silently work deeply in one’s heart, till they become a stronghold.

As I have mentioned, the things you experience around you begin from your heart. (Proverbs 4:23).

No matter how you are overwhelmed by the causes of depression, you must know there is a way out of that condition.

Remember, the plot of the adversary is to make you feel you can’t do anything about the depression.

The Lord has shown us the way out of depression through the scriptures. The scriptures provide answers to subdue every cause and form of depression.

Understand this, all things were made by the Word of God (John 1:1-3), and uphold all things by the Word of His power (Hebrews 1:3).

Which means, in all things go for the Word.

This is why you shouldn’t accept the feeling that the word of God is not true or good enough to help you. Always get yourself to go for the Word and to give yourself to prayer.

In the previous episode, we looked at the first thing to do when you are sinking into depression according to the scriptures.

“Call upon Me in the day of distress; I shall rescue you, and you will glorify Me.” Psalm 50:15 (LSB)

How does the Lord rescue you from depression?

1. He floods your heart with light, through His Word.

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 (CSB)

You may experience depression, however, the things that cause depression are not founded on REALITY.

The light (or revelation and illumination) of the word is truth or reality.

For example:

A born-again who is depressed because of some sense of guilt or thoughts of being lonely; is not yielding his or her heart to reality.

The revelation of the Word will establish you in the consciousness of your righteousness or justification in Christ. (Romans 5:1; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 8:1).

To be righteous is to have right standing with God without any sense of guilt.

By the revelation of the Word you will know that the Lord is with you always (Matthew 28:20) and will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

The word teaches you how to make the most of every relationship. You exercise the wisdom to enjoy the favor or commitment of men (Isaiah 43:4)

Beloved, the more you turn to the Lord in prayer and behold Him through the Word, the more your heart is flooded with light.

This dispels every form of heaviness that leads to depression. It takes a good word to make a heavy heart glad (Proverbs 12:25).

Go for the Word!

Selah.
