UPON ALL FLESH

“In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.” Acts 2:17 (NLT)

It was always the desire of God to see people walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

God didn’t intend that just few people will be anointed with the Holy Spirit.

There is no effective Kingdom or spiritual leadership without the Holy Spirit.

No one can do anything great with God without the help of the Spirit of God. Therefore God pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh, was a global ordination of people into greater works.

And most people disqualify themselves from the idea that they are anointed by God to work with Him. They even think they don’t have “enough” of the Holy Spirit. Some others also esteem themselves to have more of the Holy Spirit than others.

Such thoughts are hewn out of the old covenant experiences.

Before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, it was just some few people who experienced the power of the Spirit upon them.

These people didn’t even have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit upon them was an empowerment for service.

The Spirit came upon individuals; thus, it wasn’t a universal outpouring.

See this for example:

“When the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel, who delivered them: Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord delivered Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed over Cushan-Rishathaim.” Judges 3:9-10 (NKJV).

You will find similar experiences all through the Old Testament portion of the Bible. And it was just few individuals who had this experience.

However, in the New Testament, God fulfilled His own heart desire.

God, through the Prophet Joel, announced the outpouring of His Spirit upon all flesh, hundreds years before it was fulfilled in Acts 2.

See the prophecy:

“And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” Joel 2:28.

Our Lord Jesus also gave the promise of the Holy Spirit:

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever” John 14:16 (NKJV).

During one of the great feast, Jesus openly announced the experience of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

“Believe in me so that rivers of living water will burst out from within you, flowing from your innermost being, just like the Scripture says!” Jesus was prophesying about the Holy Spirit that believers were being prepared to receive. But the Holy Spirit had not yet been poured out upon them, because Jesus had not yet been unveiled in his full splendor”

On the 50th day (called Pentecost) after the death of Jesus (Passover); the promise of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled.

“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.” Acts 2:16-17 (NKJV).

All who believed in the Lord Jesus, received the Holy Spirit and utterance to prophesy.

Now as many people who will believe in Jesus will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

It doesn’t matter your background, age, race, tribe, nationality and social status, you have access to the Holy Spirit just as those called into the five-fold ministry.

There is no discrimination!

THE SPIRIT IS POURED UPON ALL FLESH!

He is not for some few people. All flesh (people) can receive the Holy Spirit, as they believe and receive Jesus.

Anyone who has believed in the Lord Jesus, has the gift of the Holy Spirit. You have the ability of God in you.

You only grow in the anointing of the Holy Spirit as you maintain an intense intimate relationship with Him.

You have the Holy Spirit in you, just as it was within the Apostles. You have the ability of God for greater works.

Selah.

DIG DEEPER:
(Acts 1:18; 2:1-21, 32-33; John 4:14; Isaiah 44:3;35:6; Psam 72:6; Acts 10:45)

WE PRAY:
That we will mature and maintain an intense intimate relationship with Him.

But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
John 4:14 NLT

On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
John 7: 37-38 NLT

It is such glory that the Holy Spirit is not for a group of selected people, but rather for everyone who believes in the Lord!
The Holy Spirit is also the blessing of the Highest God!
The Holy Spirit is our competitive advantage and gives us the ability to do things we could not do before.
