ESTEEM THE WORD IN YOUR LIFE 2
” Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became a joy to me and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16 (Amplified)
From the first part of this topic (Esteeming the Word in Your Life); I established that, the real you, which is your spirit can only be built and furnished by the Word of God.
You must esteem God’s Word in your life than your necessary food.
Why?
The Word of God is the life and the spirit of God breathed into you. Your life is held up together by the Word.
To walk in the authority given to you, and the inheritance you have in Christ, you must receive understanding from the Word.
Living by bread alone is becoming a prey to the adversary. You must live by the Word that comes from the mouth of God (see Matthew 4:4).
This is how you find direction or bearing in life.
In the previous part of this topic, I asked an intriguing question:
How do you step into the day without breathing?
It is the same as asking, how do you step into the day without feasting and meditating on the scriptures?
They are God’s speaking to you. Through the scriptures your life is governed or directed to the right places.
As you fellowship with the scriptures (the Bible), you are fellowshipping with the deep thoughts of God.
Don’t make the reading of your Bible a leisure activity. Reading, studying, meditating on the Word of God and your prayer times must be the essential part of your day.
They shouldn’t be sidelined.
Did you read the opening verse?
Read it again and memorize it. Add it to your meditation till it becomes your reality.
I believe you’ve scrolled up to read it…
Great!
This is the attitude you must have towards the Word of God. Devour, or eat or consume the Word.
It must be your joy and delight above anything else.
For every situation which may confront you, the answers are in the scriptures.
The scriptures have addressed issues which you may encounter in the future, the ones you are confronting now and the others which have already happened.
When you walk in the light of the Word, there are no surprises.
Whatever is happening in our generation has been addressed in the scriptures. Through the understanding of the scriptures, you can live 10, 30, or 50 years ahead of your generation.
To have the Word is to have the bank of answers.
However, you will not experience the solutions provided in the scriptures by keeping the Bible under your pillow or on your book shelf.
You have to devour it.
It is God’s elixir of health, wisdom, love, joy, excellence, power and glory. The scriptures unlock the treasures of knowledge. Devour by reading, studying and meditation.
Go to the Word to find the answers you seek. Anything which disagrees with the word of God, will bring you to a muddling or confusing state and to a dead-end of your living!
PAY ATTENTION HERE:
” People might tell you to ask the fortune-tellers, consult the babbling astrologers, conjure the dead to tell the living what’s to come, but shouldn’t they ask their God? Go to God’s teaching and His testimony to guide your thoughts and behavior! If any response disagrees with the word of God, then it’s muddling and wrong and not the least bit illuminating” Isaiah 8:19-21 (The Voice)
This is refreshing!
Don’t seek for answers from fortune-tellers, nor babbling astrologers.
Let’s read the above verse from the Message Translation:
“When people tell you, “Try out the fortunetellers. Consult the spiritualists. Why not tap into the spirit-world, get in touch with the dead?”
Tell them, “No, we’re going to study the Scriptures.”
People who try the other ways get nowhere—a dead end! Frustrated and famished, they try one thing after another.” Isaiah 8:19-21.
When the people of the world are in need for answers they consult fortune-tellers to fortify themselves.
But for us in Christ, our fortification is the Word of God. Go for the WORD!
Clearly we see the contrast between the people who depend and trust in the ways of the world and those who delight in the Word.
Those who reject the Word of God, are muddled, frustrated, famished and only arrive at a dead-end.
The story of the one who is nurtured into maturity by the Word of God is different.
Here we go:
” But you can tell who are the blameless and spiritually mature. What a different story with them! The godly ones will have a peaceful, prosperous future with a happy ending.” Psalm 37:37 (TPT).
Did you see that?
Oh glory to God!
Now look at this also:
” But the lovers of God walk on the highway of light, and their way shines brighter and brighter until they bring forth the perfect day.” Proverbs 4:18 (TPT).
Oh Hallelujah!
What is your delight?
Selah
DIG DEEPER:
(Psalm 119:103; Ezekiel 3:3; Job 23:12; Psalm 119:111; Psalm 119:92; 119:144; Psalm 112:1)
WE PRAY
– That we will delight ourselves more in the word of God than any pleasure of life.
