BE A STUDENT OF THE WORD
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11 (NKJV)
Are you making time to search the scriptures?
Or you take anything you hear in?
Like the Bereans referred in the opening verse, every Born-Again in Christ should have the same attitude towards the teaching of the Word.
• We need first to have the readiness of mind to receive illumination through the Word.
• Secondly, have reverence and confidence that the Word possesses a transforming ability.
• Third, we need to have genuine respect for theteachers of the Word.
However, we cannot just take in every piece of information without proving the teaching with God’s Word.
We all have access to God’s Word that we may grow in the accurate, correct and precise knowledge of Christ.
These Bereans, though, had respect for Paul (the Apostle), considering how they readily received the message he preached. They went ahead to search and examine the scriptures (the scriptures here refer to the ones in the Old Testament portion of the Bible); to see whether the things they heard were so.
They didn’t assume!
When it comes to studying, we must maintain open-mindedness. It was how they believed the truth; they saw the teachings for themselves. They didn’t have to struggle to believe. Some people find it difficult to believe and receive the word of Grace because of their religious bigotry.
The attitude of the Bereans shows the proclivity of the wise. They grow in what they hear or receive through continuous learning.
“ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:” Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV)
Beloved, you must have the genuine desire to grow in understanding. It is not merely what you have heard that brings you into accurate Knowledge. It is the truth of God’s Word that gets you into perfect Knowledge and understanding.
Therefore, precious saints receive the Word with an open mind and search the scriptures for growth in the rightness of truth.
DIG DEEPER:
(Proverbs 9:9; Psalm1:2,3; Romans 15:4; Psalms 119:15-16; 2Timothy 3:14-15; 2Timothy 2:15)
WE PRAY
– That we will diligently continue in the study of the word to grow thereby in the knowledge of Christ.
BIBLE READING
Day 104: 2 Samuel 22-24
DECLARE THESE WORDS:
– With an open mind and heart, I search the scriptures diligently.
– I grow by the word.
– I continue daily in the study of the word.
– I prove every teaching I hear with God’s word.
OH Hallelujah, GLORY TO GOD!!!
