WHAT A JOY AND PRIVILEGE!
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever”
Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)
The beautiful thing we see about this Psalm is the revelation of the Father and His family.
To dwell is from the Hebrew word, “yâshab”, which means “to sit down; to remain; to settle to marry; make to abide continually; to be established; make to inhabit; to remain; to settle or tarry”.
The word “house“, “bayith”, depicts the concept of family. It doesn’t just mean a building structure. It means a home you were born in; a household. Bayith also has the idea of a steward. It also means a temple or tabernacle, a palace, a court, an inner chamber or the presence of a King.
Now, how do you settle, abide, or settle down in the inner chamber of a King forever when you are not a true son?
To dwell in the house of the Lord is to have a deeper relationship with the Lord.
This must be the dream and desire of every man.
To dwell in the Lord’s presence is to be established in your true home, where you can commune with the Lord.
Look at David’s deepest longing:
“Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house, finding the sweet loveliness of his face, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to him that he takes pleasure in my every prayer.” Psalm 27:4 (TPT).
Deep within the heart of every man is the silent cry to experience the Lord’s presence or to dwell in the court of our God.
God designed man to abide with Him. And it has always been His dream to bring man into that intimate relationship with Him.

All through time, man couldn’t fully have access to dwell and enjoy the Lord’s presence in its fullness.
So He decided to tabernacle among men so that He would assimilate as many as believe in Him, into Himself.
This is why God came to dwell among us through the WORD (who is Jesus the Word made flesh).
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” John 1:14.
To dwell among us means the Word made His HOME among us. It also means He TABERNACLED among us. This is for us to have access to the Lord.
“How greatly to be envied are those you have chosen to come and live with you within the holy tabernacle courts! What joys await us among all the good things there.” Psalm 65:4 (TLB)
Now we have access to the Lord’s presence or inner chamber through Christ Jesus.
What a joy!
BELOVED, don’t permit anything to distract you from enjoying the glorious things in the Lord’s presence.
Hallelujah!
