    LET NOTHING KEEP YOU AT
    A DISTANCE FROM GOD 1

“we come closer to God and approach him with an open heart, fully convinced by faith that nothing will keep us at a distance from him. For our hearts have been sprinkled with blood to remove impurity and we have been freed from an accusing conscience and now we are clean, unstained, and presentable to God inside and out!”

    Hebrews 10:22 (TPT)

God made man and planted Him in His presence for eternal communion.

Man was not made to live outside God’s presence. However, after Adam turned away from God’s instructions, he became guilty at heart and couldn’t approach God’s presence.

He hid himself from the presence of the Lord because of guilt and the sense of condemnation.

That has always been the challenge of man after sin entered the world.

The matter of sin, guilt, and a sense of condemnation is rooted in unbelief. But the only way man can commune with God is by faith.

To commune with God by faith is to live by the word of God. All things came into being by the word. Man’s relationship with God was according to the speaking of God.

Man is only able to approach God on the grounds of faith. This faith is a confident assurance in who God is and what He has supplied to man.

Under the Old Covenant, God established the Aaronic Priesthood as a means to usher man into His presence.

God never wanted to be distanced from His people. No matter the corruption of man, He still made provisions to reach out to man and to bring him into fellowship with Him.

When the Israelites left Egypt, the Lord instructed Moses to build a tabernacle, that He might be in their midst. The tabernacle had the outer court, where animal sacrifices were made.

It also had the holy place (which had the seven lampstands, the table of shewbread, and the altar of incense) and then the most Holy Place.

The Holy Place was not made accessible to everyone. It was only the High Priest who had the consecration to enter the Most Holy Place. It was there in the Holy Place, God’s glory manifested.

The ark of the covenant was kept in the Most Holy Place. A special veil separated the most holy place from the other parts of the tabernacle.

Now understand that, though God made Moses to consecrate the High Priest to be the only person to legally enter the Most Holy Place, God in His wisdom made provision to commune with the entire nation of Israel in the Most Holy Place.

Aaron, as a high priest was a representative of God to the people and the people to God. He was to wear a special garment that distinguished and separated him for his assignment. This high priest’s garment had shoulder pieces that held the breastplate and the ephod (which we will discuss further later). The shoulder pieces were made of two onyx stones (one on each shoulder), and upon each of the onyx stones will be engraved with six names of the twelve tribes of Israel. (Exodus 28:2-12)

Meaning Aaron was adorned in this gracious garment to be a representation of the children of Israel before the Lord.

“You shall put the two stones on the [two] shoulder pieces of the ephod [of the high priest], as memorial stones for Israel; and Aaron shall bear their names on his two shoulders as a memorial before the LORD. Exodus 28:12 (Amplified Bible)

Whenever the High Priest stood before the Lord in the most Holy place, it was a memorial before the Lord that the entire nation of Israel was before Him.

God fellowshiped with the whole nation through the High Priest.

But the High Priest couldn’t just draw close or enter the Most Holy Place.

Before he could enter the Most Holy Place, there were some specific things which have to be in place. Apart from the burning of incense (Leviticus 16:12-13), another crucial thing he needed was an unblemished blood (Leviticus 16:3; Hebrews 9:7).
With these things in place, the High Priest enters the Holy place or draws close to the presence of the Lord with confidence.

The High Priest approaching God’s presence with confidence was the entire nation approaching God with confidence.

Everything in and about the tabernacle is a prophetic and typographical representation of Jesus, His redemptive work and what He accomplished through His life, death and resurrection.

Jesus has a better Priesthood than that of Aaron. Aaron’s Priesthood produced a temporal experience of God’s presence; however, Jesus did an eternal work and ushered all who shall believe in Him into an eternal fellowship with God without any sense of guilt.

Under the Aaronic Priesthood, there were yearly sacrifices made. But Jesus, who is the perfect High Priest, made a perfect, eternal sacrifice once and for all.

“And by his one perfect sacrifice he made us perfectly holy and complete for all time!” Hebrews 10:14 (TPT).

Now we are not like Adam, who had to hide himself from the presence of God. We are not like the Israelites, who needed yearly offerings before they gained some temporal confidence before the Lord. And then after some limited time, they become guilty of sin. We are saved through Christ’s perfect and eternal sacrifice.

Now through Christ’s sacrifice, we have eternal access into God’s presence. We dwell and enjoy His presence every day, not because of our self-righteousness, but by the perfection of Jesus.

Adam hid from God because of guilt and a sense of condemnation through the sin of unbelief. We boldly approach and enjoy the Lord because of the blood of Jesus.

Refuse to distance yourself from the Lord.

Don’t allow any guilt or wrong to draw you away from God.

Live daily in the confidence of the eternal sacrifice of Jesus.

THE LORD IS HERE TO HELP YOU

“For I hold you by your right hand— I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you”

    Isaiah 41:13 (NLT)

The adversary greatly opposes anyone called by God to do great things for the Kingdom.

As long as you are a child of God, the devil will not go on a picnic with you. As a child of God, you are a threat to the works of darkness.

If the devil can stop you from shining, he can oppress more people. This is because every child of God is a saviour.

He knows the success of your business is to the advantage of the Kingdom of God. He knows the stability of your family and the peace you enjoy is a threat to him. The more you enjoy peace, the more focused you become on doing what God has called you to do.
The more joyful you are, the more you engage in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
The adversary wants you to doubt your future, walk in fear, live in confusion and be distressed.

Don’t be troubled by your present condition; for it is a mere mirage. Don’t give in to it. Stand firm on the Word of the Lord.

Hear the Word of the Lord to you this day:
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
The moment you begin to feel discouraged, remember that the LORD IS WITH YOU.
He will strengthen you and help you!

In the Berean Standard Bible, it says:

    …I WILL SURELY HELP YOU… (Isaiah 41:10).

Beloved it is a surety deal with God.

See the verse 13 of Isaiah 41:

“For I hold you by your right hand— I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.”

No matter what the challenge is, the Lord will not only strengthen you, He holds you by His right hand, directs you and assures you that HE IS HERE TO HELP YOU.

    Refuse to cry!

    ENJOY DIVINE INTERVENTION

“The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your life.”

    Psalm 121:7 (Amplified Bible)

Until you are conscious of a reality, you may not fully take advantage of it or enjoy it.

This is why spiritual maturity is important. Your maturity gives you an edge to fully enjoy all the things the Lord has made available for you.

Your spiritual maturity is basically your increase in knowledge and understanding of your relationship with God and the inheritance you have in Him.

Many believers pray wrongly and even subject themselves to emotional distress because of their ignorance.

Fear is a product of negative thoughts. Understanding what the Lord has done and provided for you gives you restfulness even amidst the most chaotic seasons.

How you react when things seem difficult or challenging is dependent on your level of understanding of God’s provision for you.

    Are you afraid of failure?
Are you troubled by a negative experience?
Do you feel all alone and think nothing good will come out of your situation?

Are you caught up in a loop of pain and disappointment?

If your answer is “Yes” to these questions, then it’s time to intentionally set your mind on the Lord’s intervention.

The intervention of the Lord is God’s act of stepping into an endangering situation to deliver you and also to support you greatly for your progress or your miraculous advancement.

The Lord’s intervention is not in your future. The Lord is not looking forward to a day to intervening in your life before He makes His attempt.

Understand that He is not waiting for your toughest moments before He sends you help. He is not waiting for your difficult season to send you help.

The Lord’s intervention has always been with you. He has set things in place to preserve you.

As you can see from the opening verse, “The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your life.”

Now understand that the willingness of the Lord has gone forth, and has set in place all that is needed for your protection from evil. He has set things in place for the preservation of your life.

You don’t just have to hope for His help or expect that things will get better.

You have to know that the Lord has set things in place for your preservation and progress.

    YOU HAVE TO ENJOY!

    You have to take advantage!

Now, prayer for divine intervention must be with the understanding that the Lord has already made provisions for you.
Therefore, you pray to take advantage of the systems the Lord has put in place for your enjoyment.

The author of Hebrews gave us an example as to how we can take advantage of God’s intervention:

“… For hasn’t he promised you, “I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!” So we can say with great confidence:
“I know the Lord is for me and I will never be afraid of what people may do to me!”
     Hebrews 13:5-6 (TPT)

Whatever the Lord has said in His word about your situation is what He has done and is doing.

To enjoy the manifestation of the word is for you to take a confident stand on what He has said and make it your declaration in prayer and your speech.

    Don’t be troubled!

Enjoy the Lord’s intervention today and all the days of your life.

TAKE THE WORD AS IT IS

“Jesus looked at her and said, “Didn’t I tell you that if you will believe in me, you will see God unveil his power?”

    John 11:40 (TPT)

Until you learn to esteem God’s Word in your life, your focus towards God may be impaired.

There are times, because you may feel disappointed that God didn’t do things as you expected, you begin to doubt His word.

God always has a bigger picture for your life; therefore, you don’t put Him in a box or set boundaries for Him.

No challenge should be big enough to move you away from God. No challenge should be big enough to make you doubt God.

From the beginning of John 11, we can see that Jesus received a message concerning Lazarus’ health condition. And knowing how Jesus loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus, they were expecting a different response from Jesus than what happened.

“One day Lazarus became very sick to the point of death. So his sisters sent a message to Jesus, “Lord, our brother Lazarus, the one you love, is very sick. Please come!”
When he heard this, he said, “This sickness will not end in death for Lazarus, but will bring glory and praise to God. This will reveal the greatness of the Son of God by what takes place.” Now even though Jesus loved Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, he remained where he was for two more days. Finally, on the third day, he said to his disciples, “Come. It’s time to go to Bethany”. John 11:2-7 (TPT).

Now, when Jesus arrived, His friend Lazarus had been dead and buried for four days.
Now, clearly, Mary and Martha were disappointed that Jesus didn’t come early. And they all expressed their disappointment uniquely.

But let me draw your attention to a similar situation.
The story of the Roman Centurion, he had a servant who was sick and requested Jesus to speak a word instead of visiting him. (See Matthew 8:5-13).
Mary and Martha could have demonstrated similar faith to see their brother healed. Well, they were disappointed instead, and we see Martha responding wrongly to Jesus.

Don’t allow your experiences (which may also include your disappointments), assumptions, and limited knowledge, define your response to God’s word.

To exercise absolute confidence in God’s Word, take God’s Word as it is. Don’t read your preconceived motive into His word.
Martha went to meet Jesus when He was approaching their village:

Martha said to Jesus, “My Lord, if only you had come sooner, my brother wouldn’t have died. But I know that if you were to ask God for anything, he would do it for you.” Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise and live.” She replied, “Yes, I know he will rise with everyone else on resurrection day.” John 11:21-24 (TPT).

Martha believed in Jesus at the level of what she had experienced, not according to the Word of the Lord.
She has seen and heard that Jesus healed the sick. However, she didn’t know Jesus as the resurrection and the life.
When Jesus said, your brother shall rise, she responded with head knowledge:

“Yes, I know he will rise with everyone else on resurrection day.”.

However, to walk in absolute confidence in God’s word, you must respond to God with your heart.

This was why even after Jesus had explained that He is the resurrection and the life, Martha had to make an argument about the decomposition of Lazarus’ body.

She was still responding to Jesus according to her head knowledge. Faith is responding to God according to His word and not by how you feel.

Stand and act consistently according to the WORD and not your mere experience.

    THE LORD IS WILLING

“Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately, his leprosy was cleansed.”

    Matthew 8:3 (NKJV)

How many times have you found yourself in a situation and thought it’s the Lord who is punishing you?

It is wrong to think that the Lord afflicts you with infirmities or negative experiences.

It is also wrong to think that the Lord is not interested in your healing, your challenge and the situation which goes on in your family.

The Lord is not just interested in what goes on in your life and family; He is willing to help you out of that challenge.

Don’t sit back in sorrow or feel helpless; cast your cares to the Lord.

That was what the leper did:

“When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
    Matthew 8:1-3 (NKJV)

He didn’t assume the Lord would automatically heal him. He let the Lord in on his situation.

And the Lord Jesus didn’t just heal him by speaking a word; before He would declare His willingness to heal the leper, the Lord was already in the process of making the leper whole.

    He touched the leper.

    Oh dear Lord Jesus!

To be a leper is to be unclean and must be quarantined or be separated from the city to dwell alone.

“He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.” Leviticus 13:46 (NKJV)

And the unclean must not be touched. (Leviticus 5:3)

Leprosy was seen to be contagious and spread through contact. However, our Lord Jesus was willing to touch the man to spread healing.

Understand that, the leper was healed not just by the touch of Jesus, but the WILLINGNESS OF JESUS to touch the leper.

In another instance from the same chapter 8 of Matthew, our Lord Jesus showed His willingness to always heal and deliver.

“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, ‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” Matthew 8:5-6 (NKJV)

Now pay attention to the response of Jesus:

“And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.

Did you see the WILLINGNESS OF THE LORD?

No matter the challenge going on with you, the LORD is willing to heal, deliver, and help!

Turn to Him and trust Him.

Talking about the Church, I am not speaking of your denomination. I am speaking of the community of Christ, the corporate body of all the saints who stand and walk in the sound doctrine and unadulterated gospel of our Lord Jesus.

I am not talking about denominations where the gospel of our Lord Jesus is peddled and don’t esteem sound doctrine.

Go for what the Word of God says, and enjoy the revelation of Jesus.

Don’t give your mind to empty traditions and human philosophies, which end up in endless arguments.

“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving. Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.” Colossians 2:6-9 (Message Bible)

The fullness of Christ is revealed through His Body, which is the Church.

The Church remains the only Bastion of Truth in this world; therefore, let nothing move you away from the Church!
